Lin Yuan and Xia Zheng had just walked out of their courtyard when they saw Xia Zhen and Tian Hui approaching hand in hand from afar.
Xia Zheng turned his head to glance at Lin Yuan, giving her a "what do you think" look.
Lin Yuan shrugged with amusent, realizing her worries were unfounded; the rules of the General Mansion were really wonderfully relaxed. Things like morning and evening greetings were practically non-existent!
While she was contemplating this, Xia Zhen and Tian Hui had already co closer. Tian Hui’s belly was already very big, with just about a month left before she was due. At this mont, Xia Zhen was nearly like an ant on a hot pan, never able to relax. Even when walking on flat ground with not a leaf in sight, he was ticulously supporting his wife.
"Elder brother, sister-in-law."
This was the first ti Lin Yuan t them after getting married, so naturally, she had to perform the proper courtesies.
"Now that you’re married, we should be closer; why are you becoming distant from ?"
Tian Hui gave her a mocking look, hurriedly helping her up, even playfully slapping her hand, though the slap was barely enough to tickle.
Lin Yuan couldn’t help but laugh: "Sister-in-law, don’t be annoyed, just this one ti. In the future, if you want to bow to you again, I won’t comply!"
Laughing and chatting, Lin Yuan naturally took over from Xia Zhen, carefully supporting Tian Hui to the front courtyard.
Watching the two won ahead, who seed to forget about the n upon eting, Xia Zhen and Xia Zheng exchanged looks and sighed in unison, supporting each other as they followed closely behind.
The four turned a corridor, and before seeing Xia Yuan and the others, Lin Yuan heard the playful voice of Princess Anle.
"The kids are coming, you better behave!"
If you ignored the words and only listened to the content, it didn’t sound like a reprimand at all but more like flirtation.
Lin Yuan was taken aback. Was this really the Princess Anle, who was always so high and mighty to others yet amiable to her?
And the following words shocked her even more.
"Aren’t they not here yet? Even if they co, it’s fine. I’ll have the maids chase them back to continue sleeping until they produce a granddaughter for us; no one will disturb us!"
Pfft!
Lin Yuan nearly collapsed to the ground. Such words, did they really co from the decisive Great General?
Produce a granddaughter, goodness! They just got married!
Tian Hui understandingly patted Lin Yuan’s hand, her expression bizarre, "Don’t be surprised; this is just the beginning!"
Just the beginning?
Goodness, Lin Yuan held her forehead with a sigh. The undefeatable War God of Dayong, Xia Yuan, turned out to be excessively doting on his wife at ho. If this spread, would it tarnish his War God reputation?
"Is Huihui here? Co in quickly!"
Perhaps hearing Tian Hui’s voice, Princess Anle’s voice imdiately returned to normal, while she tidied the wrinkles Xia Yuan made in her clothing, ordering the maids who were minding their own business to go out and welco them.
Tian Hui and Lin Yuan exchanged a smile, composed themselves, and hurried into the room.
Xia Zhen and Xia Zheng followed closely behind, but it’s unclear if it was predetermined; both intentionally delayed a step before entering.
However, even though they delayed a step, as soon as they entered, they were t with Xia Yuan’s fiery gaze.
Xia Zheng was thick-skinned enough, but Xia Zhen, being straightforward, had already ducked his head like an ostrich, wishing he could tuck his head into his clothes.
He knew ruining his father’s good mont would surely lead to a reprimand. Ah, they should have turned back and not entered!
Though Xia Yuan was displeased with his two sons, he was still indulgent towards his daughters-in-law. One could tell just by looking at his eyes. He even unusually reminded Tian Hui to rest more and not tire herself.
It seed Xia Yuan placed great importance on Tian Hui’s unborn child.
Xia Zhen helped Tian Hui to a chair, while Lin Yuan and Xia Zheng took the tea from the maid and served it to them.
The tea from a new daughter-in-law was a tradition that had to be followed, even if Xia Yuan and Princess Anle were not sticklers for formalities, they wouldn’t skip this part.
Sitting as the hosts, they took the tea from the new daughter-in-law, smiling as they sipped, then handed the prepared red envelopes to Lin Yuan.
"Good child, if Xia Zheng ever bullies you, just tell , and I’ll make sure to teach him a lesson!"
Lin Yuan received the red envelope, smiling bashfully, "He treats very well, thank you, mother."
