Chapter 916: Chapter 916: Not Biological?!
“Bang,” Hong Pei slamd the teacup onto the table.
“What do you an? What do you an your dad just twisted his foot? Haven’t your sister and I been taking care of him these days? You can’t even co ho, nor can you contribute any money?”
“Mom, that’s not what I ant….”
“Madam Mother-in-law.”
At this mont, a voice suddenly ca from outside the living room—
“Father-in-law’s illness has already been checked, it’s not serious. I’ve settled the hospital expenses, so please don’t make it difficult for Wanzhi anymore.”
Several people looked up to see Jiang Mingchuan, dressed in a suit, walking in from outside.
He seed to have just arrived back, a layer of light sweat glistening on his forehead, and carrying a briefcase in his hand.
Behind him followed a stern-faced man.
Upon seeing the newcor, ng Xuezhi stood up straight, seemingly sowhat intimidated.
“Dad….”
Hong Pei also stood up in surprise, “Old man? What are you doing here?”
Mr. ng snorted, “If I didn’t co, would you continue to raise hell here? What are you all doing? Coming to people’s hos to make a scene? If Mingchuan hadn’t been kind enough to take to the hospital for a check-up, I wouldn’t even know you all were here!”
“I….” Hong Pei suddenly beca anxious.
ng Xuezhi quickly stepped forward, “Dad, don’t misunderstand, Mom and I just ca by to check on little sister and Bu Fan and Bu Chen.”
“Besides, aren’t you also a bit upset that Bu Fan and Bu Chen have been appearing in comrcials on TV? We’re here to clarify things.”
Mr. ng glanced at her without speaking and sat down on the sofa with ng Xuezhi’s support.
It’s clear that Mr. ng still holds considerable authority and influence in the ng Family.
Jiang Mingchuan looked at ng Wanzhi and gave her a reassuring look.
ng Wanzhi suddenly felt a pang in her nose and hurried forward, “Why have you co back?”
Jiang Mingchuan patted her back, “Ca ho for so business. I just overheard the neighbors chatting at the door, are you alright?”
ng Wanzhi lowered her head and shook it.
ng Xuezhi watched the scene, her hands nearly clenched red with jealousy.
When did their relationship get this close?
What has happened in the Jiang Family during the days she’s been gone?
Seeing this, Hong Pei quickly put on a cheerful face and approached.
“Son-in-law, is work tiring?”
As she said this, she glared at ng Wanzhi, “Why don’t you hurry up and pour so tea for Mingchuan?”
Jiang Mingchuan grabbed ng Wanzhi’s hand, looked coldly at Hong Pei.
“No need, I’m not thirsty.”
“Then sit down and rest for a while,” Hong Pei said as she tried to pull Jiang Mingchuan towards the sofa.
Jiang Mingchuan waved her off with his large hand, pushing her aside.
“No need, Madam Mother-in-law, this is my ho. If I want to sit, I’ll naturally sit down; you don’t need to treat like an outsider.”
Hong Pei’s face stiffened, she glanced at Mr. ng, and then awkwardly stood in place.
Why is this son-in-law so cold compared to before?
Could ng Wanzhi, that wretched girl, have said sothing to him?
Jiang Mingchuan didn’t continue speaking with her and instead walked over to Jiang Li, placing the briefcase on the table.
“The things you asked to get are here, are you sure they’re all true?”
“Of course.” Jiang Li nodded, putting his teacup on the table, “Third Uncle, didn’t I send all the information to you earlier?”
Jiang Mingchuan furrowed his brow, his expression slightly grave.
He usually joked around and acted carefree in front of others, but seeing him like this suddenly made ng Wanzhi feel a bit uneasy.
“What’s wrong? Has sothing happened?”
Jiang Mingchuan patted her hand, “It’s nothing, don’t worry.”
Then he looked at Hong Pei, saying with a hint of sarcasm:
“Madam Mother-in-law, there’s sothing I can’t quite understand, and since you’re here today, I hope you can give a satisfactory answer.”
Hong Pei laughed along, “What’s the matter?”
“ng Xuezhi and Wanzhi are both your daughters, aren’t they? Why is there such a significant difference in how you treat them? You treasure ng Xuezhi, treating her like a gem, but with Wanzhi, you boss her around, even scolding and hitting her? Why is that?”
He had always felt sothing was off.
ng Xuezhi’s temper and personality were clearly worse than Wanzhi’s. She got divorced early on due to marital discord.
Yet Hong Pei didn’t bla her; instead, she went to her ex-husband’s house to stand up for her daughter and then brought her daughter ho to take care of.
Even though ng Xuezhi didn’t go out to work, she ensured her als every day and looked after ng Xuezhi’s daughter with great care.
On the other hand, ng Wanzhi did all the hard and heavy chores from childhood.
At least Mr. ng treated her with a bit more leniency.
Given Mr. ng’s affection for Bu Fan and Bu Chen, Hong Pei didn’t dare to compare them with ng Xuezhi’s daughter, treating them all equally.
He had thought it was just a matter of favoritism towards the elder daughter.
Until Jiang Li found him so ti ago and told him a shocking truth, advising him to obtain Mr. ng’s DNA, which left him bewildered.
Now, Hong Pei’s face turned pale, glancing at ng Wanzhi, she said, “Son-in-law, what do you an? I treat both my daughters the sa way, can’t I be stricter with Wanzhi?”
“Moreover,” her voice lowered as if admitting so secret, “I just feel her fate is better than Xuezhi’s, she married better too, so I think Xuezhi is pitiful and want to pamper her more, is that wrong?”
Jiang Mingchuan sneered, “Really? Is that truly what you think, Madam Mother-in-law?”
“Then what else?”
Even Mr. ng was sowhat confused.
“Mingchuan, why did you suddenly think to ask this?”
Jiang Mingchuan opened the briefcase and took out a stack of docunts.
“Father-in-law, you can read, so you should understand what’s on here, right?”
He said as he handed the docunts to Mr. ng.
Mr. ng had just flipped through a few pages when his face changed drastically, his hands trembling as he finished, before tossing them to the ground.
“Hong Pei! What have you done?!”
Hong Pei was startled, a smile still forced on her face.
“Why are you making such a fuss in front of the children, what’s got you so angry?”
She said, picking up the fallen items, and the mont she saw the text, her eyes widened.
Her breath stopped abruptly.
—Sure enough, it was xx hospital’s DNA test report!
Having gone to school for a few years and seen this stuff on TV, it was clear to Hong Pei what this implied.
And flipping to the last page was the DNA test result for ng Wanzhi and Mr. ng.
It showed a probability of only 0.001% for them being biological father and daughter.
Hong Pei’s hand began to tremble violently, the color draining from her face.
How… how can there be such a thing?!
And it was Jiang Mingchuan who brought it here.
How did he know Wanzhi wasn’t her own daughter?!
