Chapter 689: Chapter 689: Is the Soundproofing of This Private Room So Good?

Jiang Li found the restaurant Shang Shaobai had ntioned, and had Ji Yanbai park the car by the roadside.

“You find sothing to eat on your own, I might take a while to co out.”

Ji Yanbai frowned, “I’ll go with you.”

Jiang Li smiled, “Don’t worry, he doesn’t pose a threat to .”

Upon hearing that, Ji Yanbai realized that the other person was indeed soone who had nearly knocked him down before, so he nodded his head.

It wasn’t until he saw Jiang Li’s figure disappearing from his sight that Ji Yanbai headed to the opposite side, casually packed a serving of stir-fried noodles, and began eating outside.

While eating, he kept an eye on the restaurant entrance.

Before long, two cars, one black and one white, pulled up.

Ji Yanbai did not recognize the make of the cars, but he knew from the vertical logos at the front that they were pricey.

Just as he was about to look away and continue eating, a familiar figure stepped out of the black sedan.

Ji Yanbai narrowed his eyes, recognizing that it was Gu Yu.

Then the person walked to the back seat, helping an older woman out.

It seed to be soone from his family.

Ji Yanbai wasn’t particularly interested, until he saw another woman getting out of the passenger seat, gracefully assisting the older woman with her other arm.

Intuition told him that this woman was probably not a relative.

Should he inform Miss Jiang?

Ji Yanbai touched his pocket, but then he rembered what Jiang Li had said earlier.

Forget it, Miss Jiang is still busy inside, no need to bother her with such a trivial matter.

Ji Yanbai lowered his head and continued to eat, unaware that Zhao Lang up ahead had turned his head at that mont.

His sharp eyes caught sight of Ji Yanbai leaning against the car and recognized the familiar vehicle.

Is Jiang Li here too?

He imdiately turned to his assistant and spoke in a lowered voice, “Check if Jiang Li is also at this restaurant.”

“Yes, Young Master.”

The restaurant manager personally ca out to welco the party, leading them through a special passage that not many noticed.

“Old Sir Gu, what made you think of dining here today?”

Gu Shengrong’s expression remained unchanged, “Just inviting so friends for a casual al, happened to pass by here.”

The manager imdiately looked at the couple of a similar age following him and their daughter behind them, as if understanding the situation, then smiled again, “It’s just right, our restaurant has so new items recently; I’ll bring so for the two young masters and young ladies to try later.”

As the manager was about to lead them upstairs, a waiter ran over and whispered in his ear, after which the manager glanced at Zhao Lang and stopped.

“Young Master Gu intends to go to the second-floor private room? We happen to have one available.”

Zhao Lang nodded slightly and followed the manager.

After sitting down, Old Madam Gu seed sowhat dissatisfied.

“Ah Yue, didn’t we book the top-floor private room? Why did we suddenly change to here?”

Zhao Lang smiled and added tea to the cup in front of the old lady.

“Granny, the view here is good and it’s livelier. Let’s just eat here.”

Old Madam Gu didn’t say much, just turned to look at the girl sitting next to her and smiled a little.

“Don’t just pour for , pour so for Kexi too.”

Zhao Lang’s smile receded, and under the expectant gaze of the girl opposite him, he handed the teapot to the waiter.

“Go and fill Miss Rong’s cup, and rember to leave the door open, it gets stuffy in the room.”

A faint look of disappointnt crossed Rong Kexi’s face.

The Old Sir humd coldly in response, “What are you opening doors for in the middle of winter during a al?”

The couple next to them made excuses for Zhao Lang, “Young people like it lively, let him keep it open. After all, there are not many people here, and we’re just talking about family matters.”

“I think he’s just spoiled rotten, don’t bother with him, just eat your own food.”

Zhao Lang remained silent, his head slightly bowed, and his eyes unintentionally swept toward the door, a surge of resentnt building in his heart.

The soundproofing in this private dining room was just too good.

Why couldn’t he hear any noise from next door at all?

Jiang Li followed the waiter’s directions and made her way up to the second floor.

Inside the private room, she finally t the legendary elder son of the Shang family in person.

Unlike Shang Shaojing, who possessed a proud deanor, Shang Shaobai had an added touch of composed elegance.

He sat quietly in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, flipping through the nu, wearing nothing but a dark grey suit, his grey wool coat freshly removed and resting on the chair beside him.

His hair was ticulously grood, not a strand out of place, his facial features gentle, with a hint of a smile that seed almost imperceptible.

Such a countenance usually indicated a thoughtful person, harboring far more on the inside than what was displayed on the surface.

He quickly noticed her, putting down the nu and pulling out his chair to walk over.

“Good to et you, Miss Jiang.”

Jiang Li’s gaze fell on his outstretched hand, and after a few seconds of hesitation, she reached out to shake it.

“Good to et you, Mr. Shang.”

“Please, have a seat, Miss Jiang.” Shang Shaobai took the initiative to take her coat and pull out a chair for her.

Before she could sit, his voice rose above her.

“It’s quite late now, so tea and coffee aren’t very suitable, I’ve ordered a hot cocoa for Miss Jiang to warm up a bit first.”

“Thank you.” Jiang Li nodded politely, then glanced at the wine glass in front of him and smiled, “I’ll start with so wine.”

Shang Shaobai seed surprised.

Jiang Li explained, “I’ve had a long day, a bit of wine to refresh myself, otherwise how will I be able to follow Mr. Shang’s conversation later?”

His playful tone made Shang Shaobai chuckle involuntarily, and he quickly called the waiter over to get Jiang Li an empty glass, then personally poured her so red wine.

“Miss Jiang is indeed very interesting, although this is our first eting, it feels as though I’ve known you a long ti ago.”

Swirling her wine glass, Jiang Li said offhandedly, “Isn’t it true that we’ve known each other for a long ti? After all, Mr. Shang has seen many tis before and has been watching for a long ti.”

Shang Shaobai paused, the light behind his glasses flickering.

“The past is the past, and now is now; Miss Jiang today is very different from before.”

He had indeed seen Jiang Li before.

Because of Shang Shaojing.

After all, he had pursued her relentlessly, several tis even causing a commotion at her ho.

Then she went quiet for a while, the next ti he heard of her was on a Weibo livestream.

She had transford completely, as if she had beco soone else entirely—elegant, composed, every move exuding the grace of a distinguished family.

After a sip of wine, Jiang Li felt even more lucid.

“Let’s get straight to the point, Mr. Shang, I’m very busy.”

Shang Shaobai smiled, “I know Miss Jiang is busy, which is why I waited until now.”

He directly took out a check from underneath the nu and placed it in front of Jiang Li.

“Here’s five million, adding to the previous amount, it makes ten million total, consider this your compensation.”

Jiang Li picked up the check, her eyebrows slightly raised, “Compensation?”

“For bringing down the Shang family.”

Jiang Li laughed, “I didn’t put in any effort, ultimately it was Mr. Shang’s own hard work.”

“No, without the two options you provided, my plan wouldn’t have co to fruition so quickly.”

Jiang Li’s fingertips stirred slightly, “Since Mr. Shang has put it that way, I’ll gladly accept.”
