Chapter 59: Chapter 59 Kicked Out

After walking for about two or three hundred ters, the old man stopped at a crossroads and pointed to the right.

Jiang Yan followed his pointing direction and was instantly dumbfounded.

Right there beside a towering tree sat a shabby little house, constructed of wood and full of historical character.

There wasn’t even a proper landing spot at the door, and after the recent rain, it was all wet, muddy, and mixed with weeds.

It was the spitting image of an old haunted house in a horror movie.

Jiang Yan had seen this house before, but it was so old and dilapidated that he had completely ignored it.

He hadn’t expected anyone to actually live there.

In an instant, the smile that had just been excited about finding a place to stay froze on his face.

Yet, the old man seed completely unaware and cheerfully beckoned him inside.

Jiang Yan hesitated at the door, hoe in hand.

“It’s fine, it’s better than sleeping on rocks for a few nights!”

At this point, he could only comfort himself with that thought.

So, he took a step and entered the house.

As he had imagined, it was dark, cold, and damp inside, but thankfully it was the beginning of sumr, so the coolness was sowhat pleasant.

The old man seed very happy to have him there, wiping the table, pouring water, with a constant smile on his face.

But Jiang Yan really couldn’t understand his gestures and could only nod and take the water.

[The old man is really nice, he doesn’t despise Jiang Yan at all.]

[Jiang Yan is much quieter now, finally resembling a proper person. It seems that only soone like the old man could ta him.]

However, no sooner had he swallowed a few sips of water than his stomach started growling loudly.

The situation was awkward for a mont.

Jiang Yan just rembered that he had only eaten on the plane today and had been busy until now, only to have a sip of water.

Thinking about Jiang Li staying in the village chief’s large house, eating and drinking well, he felt extrely resentful and cursed “fuck”.

The old man seed to have heard his belly’s continuous rumbles, too, and quickly went out again without even bothering to change his shoes.

A mont later, he returned with a bowl of porridge and a hard bun in his hands.

Jiang Yan understood this ti and pointed to the items in his hand, “Is this for to eat?”

The old man nodded and placed the items on the table.

Looking at the bland porridge and the dry, hard bun, Jiang Yan fell into silence.

He, who was used to seafood porridge and exotic delicacies, genuinely couldn’t muster any enthusiasm for these two kinds of food.

He’d rather go hungry.

But the old man across from him kept gesturing for him to eat and his eyes were filled with a hopeful glow.

Jiang Yan had no choice.

That’s just the way he was—if he encountered soone with a strong attitude, he could be even more headstrong, but when faced with vulnerable groups, he was helpless.

He couldn’t just use his capital to bully the weak, that would be too shaful.

Reluctantly, he just sighed heavily and lifted the porridge to take a sip with a furrowed brow.

Just as he had imagined, it was completely tasteless.

But the audience in the live streaming room didn’t let him off the hook at all.

[I really can’t even, the young master is now in the countryside and still thinking about a feast, he should be happy there’s food at all.]

[Yeah, maybe the old man gave him the last of his own food and he’s still complaining.]

[No, why are you guys so full of resentnt? Jiang Yan used to be a rich young master in the Capital, it’s his first ti coming to such a place and eating this kind of food, doesn’t he need so ti to adapt?]

“Have the n upstairs gone mad with concern? Jiang Li is his own sister, yet she never once complained, and still managed to secure good living conditions through her own efforts. Jiang Yan ending up in this ss is entirely because of his own lack of initiative, right?”

After struggling to finish those two bland dishes without a speck of salt or oil, Jiang Yan sat at the doorstep, lost in lancholy as he gazed at the night sky hanging low above.

“My phone, my cigarettes, my champagne, oh how I miss you……”

He swore, this had to be the most difficult day of his life.

Being penniless was one thing, but to be forced to sleep in such a place.

Behind him, the old man had already made his bed and pointed to the only remaining room downstairs, gesturing a few tis.

Jiang Yan sighed again as he looked into the pitch-black room that didn’t even have a decent lamp.

Maybe he should call Jiang Li?

He didn’t believe that she could be so heartless!

After looking up again at the sky, Jiang Yan took out a basic old mobile phone.

The mont it started ringing, the door in front of him was also knocked upon.

Jiang Yan grew suspicious.

Who could it be at this late hour?

Could the old man still have relatives?

With his doubts, Jiang Yan got up and carefully opened the door a crack.

“Hello, may I ask——”

The familiar voice ca through, and Jiang Yan, shocked, dropped his gaze——

“Jiang Li?! What are you doing here?”

At the sight of Jiang Yan, Jiang Li was also sowhat surprised.

“Why are you here?”

Jiang Yan let out a cold huff, “Why can’t I be here? But you, I never told you where I was, how did you find this place?”

As he spoke, he sized up Jiang Li, noting that she seed freshly showered with dried hair, changed clothes, and new shoes.

Even a giant suitcase stood beside her.

Stunned for three seconds, he then burst into laughter, “Hahahaha, don’t tell the village chief kicked you out?”

At this mont, the live stream audience was also confused.

“What’s happening, why did Jiang Li co over? Is she there to accompany her brother?”

“No, I just ca from the neighboring live stream. Jiang Li was about to go to sleep, then suddenly the village chief ca over and called her out, and she ca out lugging her suitcase.”

“What? Really kicked out? Why? Didn’t Jiang Li just save his child? Why?”

“Could the show crew have done this on purpose? Jiang Li’s got it rough.”

Jiang Li glanced at him without any discomfort, admitting straightforwardly, “Yes, I was indeed kicked out.”

Everything had happened so suddenly that even she was unprepared.

Half an hour earlier, just when she was about to lie down and rest, the village chief called her out.

He was full of regret, tirelessly apologizing to her, explaining that sothing urgent ca up tonight, and they couldn’t accommodate her anymore, asking her to find another place to stay.

Seeing the look on the village chief’s face, Jiang Li guessed that soone had intentionally made him do it.

In response, Jiang Li didn’t argue but calmly nodded, picked up her suitcase, and left.

After all, if one place doesn’t appreciate her, another will.

She hadn’t walked far when she saw that this small house still had the lights on. The environnt seed tranquil and refined, so she decided to try her luck and knocked.

What she hadn’t expected was to find Jiang Yan there.

Seeing Jiang Li’s admission, Jiang Yan laughed even more joyfully, releasing all the pent-up frustration and dissatisfaction.

“Looks like I’m not the least favored person on this show, Jiang Li. What do you think, why don’t you plead with a bit? Your brother might just be kind enough to take you in.”
