Chapter 320: Chapter 320: How is She Here Too?!
Although she thought this way, Su Yinwan still knew the importance of this opportunity for herself.
In the book, it was from playing the male lead’s first love in Director Zhang’s movie that she beca an internet sensation. Afterward, movie roles ca to her so readily that she firmly established her future as a queen of the film industry.
So she had no choice but to humble herself.
With that in mind, Su Yinwan took the initiative to take the gift box from Xiao Xueyi and stepped forward.
“Director Zhang, I’m really sorry for only now finding the ti to co discuss the role with you. I truly wish to portray Xiao Qi. Please give a chance.”
As she spoke, she placed the bottle of alcohol she was holding onto the table.
“This bottle is from a friend overseas, it’s not very expensive, but I hope you’ll accept it with a smile.”
Zhang Cheng frowned.
Ever since the incident where his daughter-in-law was nearly killed by a curse that almost took two lives, he had rarely accepted gifts from others. Even when he couldn’t outright refuse, he would thoroughly examine them before daring to keep them at ho.
But seeking a master’s help to ensure safety, the effort and ntal energy invested is beyond asure in money just for the sake of a re bottle of wine—it just wasn’t worth it.
“No need,” Zhang Cheng said as he picked up a teacup from the table and took a sip, “If I want to drink, I’ll buy it myself. This looks quite expensive, you should take it back and enjoy it yourself.”
Su Yinwan’s hand froze mid-air.
“Director Zhang, this was specially purchased for you. How can I take it back?”
Zhang Cheng’s expression darkened even more, and just as he was about to lose his temper, Xiao Xueyi quickly darted forward, grabbing the gift box and taking it back.
“Since Director Zhang has already said so, we will take the wine back and offer it to you next ti.”
Zhang Cheng’s expression softened, “Alright.”
Xiao Xueyi let out a sigh of relief and gave Su Yinwan a aningful look, prompting her to reluctantly move back behind her.
Xiao Xueyi quickly handed over the docunts she was holding.
“Director Zhang, our company knows that you’ve been preparing ‘Night Walk’ for a year now and it’s about to start filming. Wenwen is the most talented actress I’ve ntored. We think she fits the role of Xiao Qi very well, so please take a look—”
Zhang Cheng finally looked up and evaluated Su Yinwan carefully.
He was familiar with her work; she’d perford in a few quite decent TV shows, her acting skills were acceptable, and her appearance t the requirents. It was indeed suitable for her to portray the male lead’s first love.
But—
Zhang Cheng tapped his fingertips on the armrest twice, “You can’t see much here. Anyway, the role is up for auditions next week. You should participate and see how it goes. Xiao Su is indeed a fine candidate, worth a try.”
Xiao Xueyi felt sowhat disappointed.
If Director Zhang suggested “worth a try,” didn’t that an they had less than a fifty percent chance of landing the role?
“No, Director Sun…” Xiao Xueyi flipped open the portfolio on the table, “This is Wenwan’s resu. Please take a look before you decide.”
Zhang Cheng smacked his lips.
Taking a look was fine; after all, Su Yinwan did et his casting criteria and maybe there was sothing in her resu he would appreciate.
Just as he had started to turn over one page, the door to the study was pushed open, and a glittering, glamorous woman ca in, continually scolding:
“Oh my, why are you still sitting here? Yu Li’s lifesaver has already arrived at the door, and I was hoping you could go down to greet them.”
Zhang Cheng stood up with a “swoosh”.
“What? She’s already here? Why didn’t you say sothing, oh dear.”
“I’ve been calling you from downstairs for so long and you didn’t hear? Hurry up, the young couple has already gone down, and you should get ready too.”
Zhang Cheng hurriedly straightened his clothes, but then his gaze fell upon the two people standing beside him.
“You guys—”
Xiao Xueyi quickly said, “Director Zhang, since you’re about to receive guests, we can et another ti. It’s not urgent.”
“Okay, call my assistant and we’ll schedule another ti.”
“Ah, sure.”
Zhang Cheng promptly followed his wife down the stairs, with Xiao Xueyi and Su Yinwan close behind.
After splitting into two groups to take the elevators, once the elevator doors closed, Su Yinwan couldn’t help complaining,
“Why is Director Zhang so difficult to serve? His temperant is so odd. He wouldn’t even accept the gift we brought, and we hardly exchanged a few words before he had to go see his guests.”
She had never suffered such an indignity!
Xiao Xueyi sighed and then patted Su Yinwan’s hand.
“These big directors are all like this, it’s very normal. As you climb higher in the future, chances are you’ll often have to deal with these types of people. You have to get used to it in advance, considering that we’re the ones asking for favors.”
“Okay, got it.” Su Yinwan nodded her head haphazardly.
When the elevator doors opened, she slung her bag over her shoulder and walked out, only to run straight into a densely packed crowd in the living room.
The person leading the group was all too familiar!
It was Jiang Li!
Su Yinwan stared with her eyes wide open in shock.
How could she be here?!
What shocked her even more ca after; Zhang Cheng’s family seed very familiar with Jiang Li. Not only were the Zhang couple gathered around her, but Mrs. Zhang was holding onto Jiang Li’s arm tightly. Even Zhang Cheng’s son and daughter-in-law were following behind, holding their newborn child and being exceedingly warm.
Su Yinwan was dumbstruck, and so was Xiao Xueyi.
She knew Jiang Li, who’d beco widely popular in Shining Transformation Trip and constantly rivalled Su Yinwan for attention. Xiao Xueyi didn’t have a good impression of her either.
But given the sight of her being tightly surrounded by Zhang Cheng’s family, all sorts of alarm bells started ringing in Xiao Xueyi’s head.
Could it be that Jiang Li had already established a rapport with Director Zhang and was preparing to enter the entertainnt industry?!
With that thought, she quickly made eye contact with Su Yinwan.
Su Yinwan caught her implied ssage. Not only was Xiao Xueyi anxious, but she also wanted to find out what Jiang Li was up to now.
Thus, she put on a just right smile and warmly greeted Jiang Li.
“Lili, what a coincidence, you’re here too?”
The mont she entered the door, Jiang Li had already spotted Su Yinwan inside.
Just when they say the connection between her and the heroine ran deep—randomly going sowhere would always lead to their encounter, unavoidably so.
“Um, hello.”
Jiang Li replied indifferently, not reaching out to shake Su Yinwan’s hand, rely nodding where she stood.
Zhang Cheng glanced at her and then at Su Yinwan across the way and asked Jiang Li, “Oh, you two know each other?”
Xiao Xueyi eagerly explained from the side, “Director Zhang must be too busy to watch variety shows, right? Xiao Su and Xiao Jiang have just finished filming a show together and spent several days in Southwest. They’re as familiar as can be.”
Mrs. Zhang wasn’t soone who followed entertainnt industry news and didn’t know the backstory between the two. Hearing Xiao Xueyi’s words, she excitedly said,
“Well then, it’s perfect, since everyone is familiar. Why don’t you all stay? Auntie has made so snacks, let’s try them together.”
