Huo Feng turned to Yue Ning, a smile appearing on his lips.
"I have dealt with her." With his hands in his pocket, he took long strides towards her. "You don’t have to worry about her anymore."
’Not bad, Host. He was able to deal with her.’ The system’s voice echoed in her mind, and she nodded, feeling satisfied by the outco of today’s matter.
"Alright, I will return to the office. You can always call if you need any help."
Seeing that his mission was completed here, Huo Feng prepared to return to the office.
"Gege, how about you stay back for lunch?" Huo Yan suggested.
Huo Feng shook his head negatively. "Maybe next ti. I have an important eting to attend to."
Huo Yan nodded dejectedly as she and Yue Ning sent Huo Feng to the door.
"I miss our villa," Huo Yan murmured.
Yue Ning sighed as well, and mumbled a statent of agreent. At least, in their villa, they didn’t need to be too cautious.
"Xiao Yan, I will just freshen up." Yue Ning inford her, and walked to the room.
All of a sudden, the familiar chi echoed in her mind when she arrived in the room, and her eyes narrowed. It seed there was a new mission.
Her eyes narrowed. Did the system have to ruin her mood every ti? She asked herself.
’This is not on . You completed your mission yesterday, you should have gotten a new one yesterday as well.’ It paused, its voice laced with uncertainty.
’I don’t know why it moved to today. Ever since I beca your system, a lot of normal things have changed. So you can’t bla for today’s mission.’ it defended itself seriously.
Yue Ning’s lips twitched at its serious defence. She didn’t make things difficult for it again as she also understood its sentints.
She knew that her entire life was ant to revolve around the system and complete missions—just like she had seen in novels. But it was different with her, and it felt like the system was more lax with her for so weird reason.
"Fine, what’s this next mission?" She finally spoke up. "I wonder when I’ll be able to move on to the interdiate level." She mumbled to herself, and the system chuckled.
At her command, the familiar white holographic panel appeared. It showed her current stats, her skills, and the mission bar.
Yue Ning’s eyes narrowed at the skills, and she clicked her tongue disappointedly. "I still haven’t been able to get the dical skills. If I had it, perhaps, I could have saved Grandma." She murmured, and a trace of lancholy flashed through her eyes.
"Command," she whispered, and her next mission appeared.
Yue Ning read it, and she almost spat out blood.
"What the hell?" She yelled, and shot up to her feet, a blush spreading from her cheeks down to her ears. She had only read the first line of the mission, resulting in this.
[Mission: Spend quality ti with Huo Feng tonight.]
[Sub-mission: Accept your family tomorrow.]
[Rewards: Would be made known after both missions are completed.]
’What is wrong, Host?’ The system asked worriedly, but beneath its worry was a hint of slyness that ca with being bound to it.
Yue Ning held her head and paced around. "How do you expect to spend quality ti with him? I am sure you are out to get . Show the real mission, I don’t believe this is my mission."
Yue Ning was in a state of denial, and the system took joy in her current state. If Yue Ning was able to see the system, she would realize that it was mocking her.
’I am sorry, Host, but this is not possible.’ The system stated calmly, a complete contrast with Yue Ning’s state. ’Once the mission has been revealed, it can’t be changed. This is really... your mission.’
Yue Ning’s eyes flashed with a trace of helplessness.
"If this isn’t bullying, I don’t know what else is." She murmured and slid to the floor.
She looked at the second mission, and felt a bit satisfied. It was accepting her biological family, there was nothing wrong there.
But her eyes unwillingly returned to the first, and she kept replaying the words over and over. She fiddled with her fingers as she thought of ways to spend quality ti with Huo Feng.
What could they discuss? Did he love reading novels just like her? Or should they watch a movie? Several thoughts flashed through her mind, and she was unable to decide on what to do.
She finally stopped thinking. She was going to let nature run its course.
_______________
anwhile, Yue Chen was thrown into Huo Feng’s underground prison.
She hit her fists loudly on the cell bar. "I request to see Brother Huo! He can’t treat like this! I thought he loved ... then why did he treat this way?"
Ah Si looked at the lady who was in a sorry state, and disgust flashed through his eyes, but he masked it up with a smile.
"Miss. Yue, it is better for you to take a good look at yourself." He started with folded arms. "Why do you think you are better than our Young Madam? If you are with Boss, you’ll only slow him down."
"You have nothing to give him. Compared to our Young Madam, you are trash which is not welcod." Ah Si was brutal in his words, but he didn’t care.
His wish for a long ti was to talk so sense into Yue Chen, and he finally had the opportunity. He wasn’t willing to waste this rare chance given to him.
With a loud sneer, he walked away leaving behind Yue Chen’s pitiful and desperate cries.
Yue Chen clutched the bars, her knuckles turning white as tears streaked down her cheeks. "I won’t stay here! You can’t do this to !" she scread, her voice hoarse from crying.
Ah Si had already turned to leave, his footsteps echoing steadily down the corridor.
In a sudden burst of panic, Yue Chen’s voice rose again—this ti, sharper and wilder.
"You think I’m worthless? Fine! But I’m carrying Kang Beichen’s child! Although the Kangs might not compare to you, they will do anything to protect their heir!"
The words rang out, echoing in the silent corridor.
Ah Si froze mid-step. His back stiffened, but he didn’t turn around. Slowly, his lips curved into a cold sneer.
"Hmph... desperate won always talk too much." His voice was low, and filled with mockery, before he continued his steps, leaving her screams behind.
Inside the cell, Yue Chen sank to the ground, convinced her revelation had bought her a chance at survival.
But in truth, her words had only beco a blade—one that would soon be delivered straight into Huo Feng’s hands to be used.
