Che Hui’s wife watched as so many people gathered around; she didn’t dare to speak until everyone had left. Only then did she find her voice again.

"Hubby, such a young doctor... Can we really rely on her?"

She spoke in a whisper, fearful that her words might reach the ears of those who had just walked away.

"Don’t worry, we have to trust the hospital director and the doctors. If they want... Doctor Rong to perform the surgery, it ans she must be skilled. Just let nature take its course. If it works, great, if not... that’s alright too. It ans the doctors have done their best, and we should understand that."

He said this to prepare his wife for the possibility of surgical failure.

After all, when he had been injured and taken to the hospital, he had already accepted the possibility of being disabled and having to leave the military.

Now, soone was saying there was a chance he could be completely unscathed... such a good outco would truly be a godsend.

His mindset had already adjusted quite well.

Che Hui’s wife:...

Her husband’s words did not reassure her.

She simply couldn’t bear the thought of her husband being crippled, especially after all these years of witnessing his passion for the military.

Taking a deep breath, she tried to calm herself, and then, as if coming to a realization, she mustered a smile.

"...Alright, if worse cos to worst, we’ll go back ho and farm."

Che Hui:...

Farming? That wouldn’t be necessary.

If he really had to leave the military due to his injury, there would definitely be so work arranged for him locally.

"Don’t overthink it; let’s wait until after the surgery today."

"Okay." Che Hui’s wife also felt that her previous question was inappropriate.

Even that young female doctor had said the patient needed to remain relaxed,

And here she was, bringing up... Was she just adding to her own husband’s stress?

She really was too foolish and too nervous.

At nine o’clock sharp, Che Hui was wheeled into the operating room by a nurse.

Soon after, Rong Yan and her team all arrived.

Of course, they first disinfected themselves and put on surgical gowns.

Rong Yan did not use only her own dication; she wrote a prescription and then had the hospital prepare everything.

By this ti, Che Hui on the operating table was fully convinced that the surgery was going to be perford by the young comrade, Rong Yan.

Fortunately, he was quite at peace with the situation.

"I’m going to be performing your surgery, but I won’t give you general anesthesia. Just relax, and if everything goes well, the surgery won’t take more than an hour."

Che Hui nodded, indicating his understanding.

Then, he heard Comrade Rong say "begin," and she injected sothing into his leg—the calf area—and soon after, he couldn’t feel that leg at all.

Even Dr. Fang was quite surprised at the speed of the anesthesia.

However, when Rong Yan picked up the scalpel, everyone in the room started to concentrate.

Outside, waiting, were Che Hui’s wife and several of Che Hui’s comrades.

These comrades had taken leave to co when they heard that their group leader, Che Hui, was having this important surgery.

There were five of them in total, including the young soldier whose life Che Hui had saved.

His na was Li Pengfei, and he was extrely nervous.

After all, he just wanted Group Leader Che to be alright.

Those waiting outside were all silent.

They were very afraid of disrupting the surgery with their noise...

Ti ticked by, and in the blink of an eye, about forty minutes had passed.

The operating room door opened, and the doctor ca out, his face breaking into a smile as he removed his mask.

Che Hui’s wife, unable to wait, asked imdiately, "Doctor, how’s my husband doing?"

"The surgery was a success. He just needs to rest well now," the doctor said, looking very pleased.

No one could understand the excitent he felt at that mont.

He was deeply impressed by the young girl’s dical skills.

No wonder Doctor Zhang had said yesterday that Comrade Rong Yan’s surgical skills were far beyond dostic levels.

"...Doctor, does that an that after he recovers, he’ll be able to walk normally?" Che Hui’s wife asked, her voice trembling with nervousness, afraid she had misunderstood.

She didn’t dare to be happy!

"Doctor Rong said so. As long as he follows the doctors’ orders and doesn’t move around carelessly or strain himself, he should be back to normal after he recovers. Running, jumping, and weight training should all pose no problem," the doctor assured.

His words not only set Che Hui’s wife’s heart at ease but made everyone present almost jump for joy.

And then, after the excitent had passed, Li Pengfei squatted down and began to cry with relief, "It’s too good..."

His comrades understood his emotions and seeing him cry like a child, one patted his shoulder, "Alright, no more tears. Group Leader Che’s surgery was a success; this is a joyous occasion."

Li Pengfei slowly cald down, managing to control his emotions.

And at that mont, Che Hui was wheeled out.

He looked quite spirited, awake through it all, though the leg that had the surgery was still numb without any feeling.

But that didn’t worry him, as Comrade Rong had said, the effects of the anesthesia would start to wear off in one and a half hours and would be completely gone after four hours.

When Che Hui’s wife saw her husband being wheeled out, she quickly approached, "Hubby, how are you?"

Others also gathered around.

Che Hui glanced at them and then reassured his wife, "I’m fine; the doctor said the surgery went really well."

Everyone was beaming with happiness.

Then Rong Yan and her team erged.

Che Hui’s wife hastily thanked Rong Yan, "Thank you, doctor, thank you for saving my husband... Thank you!"

A thousand words of gratitude could only be expressed with that ager word "thanks."
