Doggie saw she was awake, grinning as he approached, and said, "Madam, you’re awake? Hungry? I bought buns, do you want so?"
Dong Wan’er saw his wide grin, his big yellow teeth, and felt nauseated, almost throwing up. She clenched her fist and angrily said, "Get out of here, dog slave."
Doggie laughed and said, "Madam misunderstood. I’m no longer a servant. I’m your husband now, and it’s your dad who’s the servant!"
He wasn’t wrong. Their whole family were now good citizens; it was she who had freed them. At this mont, Dong Wan’er regretted this bitterly. Had she not freed them, they would have been confiscated and sold off along with the Dong family property—how would he have gotten so smug otherwise?
