After over a month’s journey, I finally rushed back to the Capital from Tongzhou. Mother was quite disappointed upon seeing return alone, and before I could pay my respects, she began scolding for the cri of leaving ho.

The more she spoke, the angrier she beca, and in the end, she began to cry, her words choking with emotion, utterly heartbroken.

After being away from ho for over half a year, I missed my parents day and night. Now, upon my sudden return, seeing Mother so upset and in tears for my sake, I couldn’t help but deeply bla myself. Kneeling before her to admit my guilt, I suddenly recalled the line attached to the letter from Older Sister, so I decided to try it out.

"Mother, please don’t be sad. Your son has another matter to report to you both."

"What matter?"

Father asked indifferently. After not seeing for several days, he showed no joyful expression upon seeing . He remained serious, with a subtle and indistinct lancholy etched between his brows.

I respectfully said, "This ti when your son went out, I encountered a girl in Tongzhou. I feel she is the person I seek to spend my life with, so I wish to finalize this major life decision and seek parental approval..."

I told them about Yanran. In ntioning this, it was not rely to cheer up Dad and Mom, but because I sincerely want to build a family with Yanran.

This decision was not made in a mont of rashness but was the result of deep contemplation during the month-long journey back to the Capital. After separating from her, her image constantly reappeared in my mind. Her every smile, every word spoken, each movent and expression, are deeply etched in my heart, unable to be erased. Just a few days after departure, I began to miss her and increasingly felt she was the person I needed to spend my life with.

Nearly ho, I had already made up my mind: once at ho, I would report this to my parents and then marry her, bringing her inside the ho to be my wife.

Mother halted her sobs upon hearing my report and eagerly said, "Since you favor that girl, why didn’t you bring her back? In the southern barbarian land, witchcraft is prevalent. Leaving a delicate girl there, what if sothing happens?"

Father added, "How about we send a few people over right away to bring her back to the Capital? A girl, carrying this yet uncared-for little child, might be targeted by evildoers, and that would be bad..."

My parents did not mind her concubine identity and directly supported my decision, showing care for Yanran as if she were their own daughter, which deeply moved . I quickly said, "Dad and Mom need not worry, I have already entrusted her to Sister Juhua’s hands. Sister Juhua will certainly take good care of her."

"Juhua? So she is in Tongzhou too?"

Mother was unaware that the Shen Family had gone to Tongzhou. She was surprised upon hearing this, and then said, "Juhua, that girl, is most unreliable. You’re better off bringing Yanran back for us to care for ourselves."

"Right, bring her back so she stays under our eyelids, and let no so-called princess dare bully her," Father said protectively.

In fact, I now also miss Yanran and am eager for her to co to the Capital. Receiving parental approval, I gladly said, "Without your permission, I dared not propose to her, nor do I know what her thoughts are..."

Before I could finish speaking, Father interrupted, "You did very well; this is the kind of Good Youngster that is versed in the Scriptures, well-mannered. You need not personally intervene in this matter. Dad will help you fulfill your Heart’s Desire; you should just stay at ho and wait to beco your groom!"
