Cai Wei listened, then laughed and said, "Good, Mother, rest assured, Brother Lian Cheng’s marital affair is in my hands. I will definitely help you find a suitable daughter-in-law who will show proper filial piety to you, dear elder."
These words made Eldest Lady Mo smile with delight, and she repeatedly thanked Cai Wei.
Juhua on the side whispered, "Who would have thought that the grand Empress Dowager would still have to double as a matchmaker!"
Cai Wei rolled her eyes at her but ignored her, then bade farewell to Eldest Lady Mo and took her to Yishan Hall.
Inside Yishan Hall, everything was as usual. Most of the patients seeking treatnt were poor people, many of whom couldn’t afford the consultation fees and were queued up to get free soup dicine. Mo Liancheng, upon seeing Cai Wei arrive, quickly ca out from the counter, respectfully saluted Cai Wei, and invited her to sit inside. After not seeing each other for over a year, Mo Liancheng had matured significantly, now embodying the steadiness and aura of a mature man, no longer the destitute youth Cai Wei used to support.
After seating Cai Wei inside the inner room, Mo Liancheng personally served tea and brought out the account books of Yishan Hall for Cai Wei to review.
Juhua leaned close to Cai Wei’s ear and whispered, "Is he the man who plans to marry a literate girl?"
Cai Wei’s eyes remained on the account book as she whispered, "Why? Do you want to marry him?"
"I do not!"
Juhua’s face reddened from the accusation, but she obediently kept quiet and said no more.
Cai Wei carefully verified the accounts. Finding no questions, she then inquired about so matters concerning Yishan Hall, like whether there were any difficulties or if anyone had caused trouble...
Mo Liancheng answered each question. When he heard Cai Wei ask if anyone had caused trouble, he laughed and said, "Everyone in the Capital knows who is the boss behind our Yishan Hall. Who would be foolish enough to co here and make trouble?"
These words made Cai Wei laugh too. It was already late morning, and since Juhua’s stomach was growling, after finishing checking the accounts, Cai Wei left Yishan Hall, taking Juhua to have lunch.
Juhua, having run around all morning with Cai Wei, was eagerly waiting for this lunch. When Cai Wei brought her to the Mu Family’s Bafu Restaurant, she was so happy her eyes squinted into crescent moons.
"Hehe, Cai Wei, you really care for , knowing I’ve gone without at for so long, and specially inviting for roasted at skewers to comfort ..."
Cai Wei looked at her, amused and exasperated, unable to resist teasing her, "Do you really not mind your figure? Or should I say, are you not afraid your future husband might be dissatisfied with your body?"
Juhua nonchalantly replied, "I do mind. I want to slim down and beco a graceful lady, but if slimming down ans I have to give up good food, I’d rather be a happy fatty! As for others disliking , I don’t care one bit. Honestly, I’d be glad if he hated and refused to marry . That way, I can be a free and carefree fatty..."
Cai Wei was defeated by her relentless foodie spirit, helplessly shook her head, and led her upstairs to feast.
The two booked a private room and settled down. Juhua ordered so much that even four or five people couldn’t finish it. Cai Wei said with a headache, "Juhua, do you really think you can eat all of this? We really shouldn’t waste it!"
Shen Juhua, with a face of calm, said, "Since I’ve ordered it, of course, it can be finished. Cai Wei, don’t tell you’re distressed over this?"
Cai Wei held her forehead. Distressed? She’s the literal richest person in Great Jin! Not to ntion inviting a friend for at skewers, she could even treat them to mountain and sea delicacies or monkey head and bird’s nest without any issue!
