Chapter 1355: Chapter 1362: Situ Changge’s Impulse (1)

The Autumn Hunt had ended, and Ning Huaixiu, the daughter of Pri Minister Ning, followed the Sacred Carriage back to the palace. This pampered young lady, from the most noble heiress of the Great Jin Nation, transford in an instant into a naless palace maid by the side of The Emperor and the Empress.

Before, Pri Minister Ning had vehently opposed his daughter’s choice to dean herself in such a way, but Ning Huaixiu was resolute in her decision. Despite the couple’s earnest entreaties, she refused to turn back. Seeing that his persuasion was in vain, Pri Minister Ning, in a fit of anger, decided to wash his hands off her and pretended as if he had no such daughter.

Although Madam Ning could not bring herself to be as decisive as her husband, the depth of her daughter’s stubbornness also filled her with disappointnt.

A chancellor’s daughter of her stature, in terms of identity, was more than qualified to be an Empress, yet she deaned and belittled herself so willingly. For the sake of a man, she did not only forsake her own dignity but also disregarded the reputation of her parents, brothers, and sisters, insisting on being a lowly palace maid by The Emperor’s side.

Disappointed as they were, they no longer showered her with the affection they had before, allowing her to enter the palace!

Ning Huaixiu ambitiously entered the palace, only to discover that life therein was utterly different from what she had imagined. In her fantasy, she was to be The Emperor’s personal attendant, supposed to spend her entire days by his side, handing him tea and grinding ink, her presence adding fragrance like an accessory to his sleeve.

However, on the very day she entered the palace, the Steward Eunuch, ng Huaian, assigned her to the nightly shift, which ant she had to sleep throughout the day, only getting the opportunity to serve by The Emperor’s side from the Hai hour to the Yin Ti.

She was greatly disappointed; she had thought that this ti was when The Emperor would be sleeping and that he would not see her, nor would she have a chance to speak with him.

Yet, on the very first day of her duty, she realized she was wrong.

During this ti, The Emperor wasn’t sleeping at all; instead, he was in the tent with the Empress, busily engaged in so activity.

Being an unsullied girl confined to her boudoir, and with strict household discipline, she was completely ignorant of matters of n and won and couldn’t help but curiously wonder, what were they doing?

Confused, she waited a long while until the bed curtain was drawn open, and she saw the man she had constantly yearned for, erging while holding the Empress. Beneath the bright palace lantern, the man wore a bright yellow sleepwear, with its front open, revealing most of his muscular chest. On that handso face that haunted her dreams and filled her with longing, there was a teasing smile.

Seeing them in such loving embrace, a sharp pain struck her at heart. She imdiately forced herself to adjust her emotions and moved forward, ready to attend to him, only to be sternly sent back by Xiao Zhi, who was also on the night shift.

“Ning Huaixiu, go tidy up the couch and change the bedding. Freshen it up with so incense. There’s no need for you to worry about The Emperor and the Empress; they have others to attend to them.”

And so, she watched, eyes wide open, as the man she adored embraced his Empress and entered the Cleansing Room behind. Soon after, sounds of their frisky horseplay could be heard from inside…

She glanced in the direction of the Cleansing Room, and under Miss Xiao Zhi’s stern gaze, she dragged her lead-weighted legs to tidy up the couch.
