"Are they completely abandoned?" Zhihao felt bad for them. It wasn’t a pleasant feeling to know you have been completely abandoned by your parents who are supposed to love and protect you. He gazed at his mother and father, he was grateful that they were here with them.
Now he felt he was better off because his parents hadn’t abandoned them. Even though their mother had been sad previously, she still didn’t hate and abandon them.
"We don’t know their stories; let’s say so got lost, so were abandoned, so were sold to the traffickers and then rescued later on, and so just lost their parents under so understandable circumstances, and they no longer have any present guardian..." Tang Fei gently ruffled their head hair as they strolled through the pavent.
Zhihao’s brows knitted together as he looked around again, trying to imagine what life would be like growing up in such a quiet, lonely place. He felt thankful and blessed.
His small hand reached for his mother’s, holding it tightly. Beside him, Feihao remained unusually silent, his gaze fixed on the building ahead.
Tang Fei gave his hand a reassuring squeeze.
Minghao and Tinghao were holding their father’s hands and felt grateful.
Huo Ting Cheng, who had gone a few steps ahead, turned slightly and motioned toward one of the caretakers approaching them from the doorway. She looked worn out but smiled with a kindness that felt genuine.
"Welco... Welco to our humble abode!" the woman spoke up, bowing politely. "We are really honored to receive your visit. The children are having their midday lessons inside, and they will be done soon. I didn’t want to disrupt them until you were ready. Our manager is having a eting too."
Tang Fei offered her a soft smile from ear to ear looking polite and understanding. "It’s alright. We are here to spend ti with them. We brought so supplies for the kids and I hope they would be of assistance... My husband’s assistant should have contacted you already and notified you of our visit."
Apart from the fruits, her husband had made arrangents and bought other kids stuff, clothes, toys, and general everything kids could like.
The woman nodded politely, gazing at the graceful Mrs Huo. They rarely get to see her, and now facing each other, it felt completely different than what they heard on the social dia platforms; it was good never to believe in those rumors. "Yes, yes, we received the call a few hours ago. We are very grateful, it’s just the Director is held up a little but will be done soon."
"It’s okay, we understand..." Tang Fei didn’t mind waiting.
Behind them, two staff mbers unloaded boxes from the van. Huo Ting Cheng had made plans and bought other things suitable for an orphanage; Inside were new blankets, clothes, shoes, books, toys, and fruits...
Tang Fei also wanted to donate a few coins that could support them in the anti.
A few minutes later, the children followed the caretaker’s cue and began to file out of the main building, so clinging shyly to the walls, others peeking curiously from behind doors.
They were all young, ranging from toddlers to about ten years old, with varying degrees of awareness and openness.
Zhihao’s eyes imdiately lit up, seeing them; as much as they behaved like mature people, they were still kids. "There they are momma! I can see them." he loudly cheered gazing at his mother, naive and just a child.
Feihao nodded, still not saying much, but his expression softened looking at those innocent faces peeking at them.
A small girl with two ssy pigtails shuffled forward, her eyes wide as she looked at the visitors. Tang Fei crouched to her level and smiled welcoming her.
"Hi there, little one," she said, gently gazing at the child. "What’s your na little one?"
The girl hesitated before mumbling in her soft voice, "Xiao i."
"That’s a pretty na you have got there," Tang Fei replied warmly before gently pinching her cheeks. "I’m Tang Fei, and these are my kids. We brought so little gifts over. Would you like to help us hand them out?"
Xiao i’s eyes brightened, and she nodded eagerly. She was so tiny and wore so worn-out clothes that had faded.
Within short monts, the quiet compound was filled with laughter and motion.
The kids gathered around Tang Fei, Zhihao, Minghao, Tinghao, and Feihao and began passing out toys and snacks.
So were hesitant at first, but the warmth in Tang Fei’s tone, the calmness in Tinghao’s quiet deanor, and the way Zhihao and Feihao blended in with the children eased their nerves.
Watching his woman interact with the children from a distance, Huo Ting Cheng felt sothing stir in his chest.
He felt like the one-ti kind and gentle Tang Fei was back to him. She was so soft and always had this ability to care, to lead, and to protect not just those she loved but even strangers.
She seed to have improved and was getting better around the kids, and he was glad.
As he leaned against a tree, his eyes never leaving her, he caught Feihao looking up at him with adoration and care. Sothing in him had changed and you could see his whole world in front of him.
"Dad," Feihao called him, breaking her silence. "Can we co back here more often? Don’t worry, I can donate my pocket money." She actually didn’t mind coming over from ti to ti. Looking at these kids who were just kids like her, she felt sympathetic, and genuine need to protect them.
Huo Ting Cheng arched a brow, surprised, but not that he didn’t understand her; she had been in such a helpless situation at one ti, and more than anyone, she understood what the kids were going through. Then a slow smile crept onto his face. "Of course, you can just rember to notify ..." he warmly responded. "If you want to, we will always co by."
