Chapter 34: Mistakes were made

Lun lifted his hand in the air for everyone to see, motioning everyone to stop their movents. He motioned to Qu Quan to initiate the fight as she took the bow off her shoulder and took an arrow out of her quiver, nocking an arrow. She was ready at any ti for Lun to signal her.

After a few monts of waiting for the deer to turn its head away from them, Lun lowered his hand as almost at the sa ti Qu Quan fired her shot directly at the beast's head from behind.

If this were any normal beast, the shot would have killed them instantly with the arrow piercing straight through their skull and brain.

But this deer was no normal beast as when the arrow made contact with it's head, instead of penetrating right through, it only made a dent about half a centitre deep before falling to the ground.

Silence perated the area as Qu Quan and the others took ti to comprehend what just happened.

This deer's skin was thick enough to block one of her most powerful attacks!

Sensing a very bad situation brewing, Lun didn't hesitate anymore as he conjured up two mana bolts, one in each hand and sent them both towards the deer as he shouted to the others.

"RUN!"

They had made a severe misjudgent this ti.

"SCREEEE!"

The deer launched it's own terrifyingly loud squeal followed by the sound of intense stomping and vibrations heading right for the spot Lun and the other's were at only a mont ago.

Lun had no regard for his surroundings as he did everything possible to try and put as much distance between them and the deer.

Thankfully his one of his mana bolts hadn't missed and struck the deer right in it's front right leg, causing a lot more damage than Qu Quan's arrow and even causing the deer to stumble forwards a mont after.

However it stood back up at lightning speed with it's leg still not showing a sign of blood or burns from his attack as only a slight bruise lay where his mana bolt hit.

Seeing how even one of his own most powerful attacks still didn't draw blood or even phase the deer, Lun put 110% of his focus and effort into running as fast as he could.

The others were luckier than him as although they were slower than both Lun and the beast, Lun had managed to draw it's aggro with his double mana bolt attack and it was focused on chasing him down.

Jake, Will and Qu Quan had a chance to breathe as they grouped up far from the deer beast and started quick firing ideas to each other, wanting to help Lun in whatever way they could.

"I say we split up and each take a turn to attack the beast to draw it away from him and lead it to sowhere it could be trapped like a small cave or sothing like that!" Jake was the first to speak as he wanted to imdiately go over and attack the beast to get it away from Lun.

"That's not a terrible idea except for the fact that we have no idea where such a small cave could be in this area, the nearest one could be tens of kilotres away for all we know! Not to ntion the deer could camp outside the entrance of the cave, trapping us in there until the end of the tutorial... I say we think about this carefully and try to approach them to see if we can find any sort of opportunity to escape with Lun." Will responded to Jake as shut down his plan as such a thing would only be suicide for them if they wanted to pull off such a thing without knowing the environnt enough.

"I- I agree with Will!" Qu Quan stuttered her words as she was still recovering from the shock of her dealing no damage to the beast.

With that settled, they started running back towards Lun and the pursuing deer, which was much faster than him.

'Shit, what do I do..... This deer is way faster than and if it weren't for it's large size and difficulty navigating through these tight spaces in the trees, it would have got to already.'

Lun was running through his thoughts while constantly looking back at the deer who as very quickly catching up to him.

He cut another sharp turn around a group of trees to put so more distance between them with the deer's large body.

But he knew that he couldn't keep doing such a thing as he would run out of stamina at so point and he basically knew for certain that the deer would have plenty more stamina left in it long after Lun ran dry.

This left him in his predicant where he was constantly running in circles around trees and over shrubbery trying to keep the distance between him and the deer. He even launched an odd Mana bolt every so often when his mana sowhat recovered enough to do so.

But each one only gave him a temporary gap until the deer used it's incredible agility to catch back up in no ti, with little to no injuries on it from the mana bolt.

After around 10 minutes of constant running, he noticed Jake, Will and Qu Quan in the distance running towards him as he shouted at them for coming back for him.

"I SAID RUN GOD DAMMIT!"

He knew it was too late to change their minds as they didn't even listen to his shouts and kept drawing closer to him and the deer at a fast pace.

When he looked back over to them, he noticed that they had stopped and kept a reasonable distance while they kept their eyes peeled for the deer and any opportunity they could use to stop it's rampage on Lun.

Unfortunately they found nothing as they were helpless.

But while they were observing their surroundings, they had failed to notice Lun disappear into a hole in the ground with shock on his face as not even his voice could reach them before he was sucked in.

By the ti they looked back, it was too late....
