So Xeno was not as inclusive and easy going as they assud it would be. But which empire in the interstellar truly was? They all had their positives and negatives so Scarlet did what diplomats do best. She put on her best smile and tried not appear off put right from the get go.
Carana put an arm around Scarlet and she said, "Don’t worry my friend, you all are our honored guests so we will not expect your n to conform to our traditions. We want you to enjoy Xeno and when you leave, it should be with glowing reports that will deepen our ties. Please, follow to the our empress’s palace, my mother is simply excited to et you all."
Then she turned to the others and added in a very serious voice, "But not the n. n do not step into the palace of the great empress of Xeno, ever." She paused just before she added the ever. It sounded like a warning and threat at the sa ti.
With unease, especially among the n, everybody followed along and they were led to different cars. The n were separated from the won. The flying cars they were to take looked like gigantic transparent light bulbs with traces of vines on the outside. The won took white cars, the n grey ones.
It was another thing that puzzled Scarlet and Carana was very willing to explain.
"It’s the way things are done. It makes it easy to know if a car is carrying n or won. A car that carries n cannot fly anywhere close to the central royal palace."
Scarlet tried not to flinch but she was having loud judgntal thoughts about this planet. Good Lord! What had the n on Xeno done to be treated like second class citizens? How did the won gain so much power? This was not a balanced society in any way. It was probably every man’s wish here to be born as a woman.
"Out of curiosity, what jobs do the n here do?" Scarlet asked her.
Carana was all too happy to share information. "They nurture and raise the children, they do simple chores around the house, they satisfy us sexually. Xenoan won have very high libidos, we burn hot most of the ti. But if you an professionally, n can be teachers but only for male children. We do not allow n here to mold the minds of won.
Xenoan won are natural born warriors, we dominate. It’s in our genes but absent in the genes of our n. That’s why won here go to war while n stay back and look after the children."
Everything that Carana was saying made less sense to Scarlet that had lived in two worlds were n and won were mostly equal. n were more dominant but won had rights and good lives____, better than the n here apparently.
"Oh I hope Justin does no ever land himself a Xenoan wife." She thought.
The thought was sent to Severus who was laying at her feet.
"I told you that I don’t like this place, it’s off. The balance of their world is off. I give them two millenniums or less and it will all co crumbing down." he responded.
"Probably because the n will rebel." Scarlet suggested.
Next to her, a proud Carana asked, "What do you think of our planet? Isn’t it the most beautiful place you have ever seen?"
Physically, maybe but everything else.... This thought went unvoiced and Scarlet smiled so widely and replied, "Extrely so. I have never seen trees this big. Were they always here or did your people grow them?"
"You have many deities on your planet, but here we have only three. The goddess of the forest, the goddess of fertility and the goddess of justice. The trees are the work pf the goddess of the forest. We take extra care of them and they shelter us."
All female deities according to them, Scarlet realized. She knew for a fact that the god of forest was male. That was the sex he assigned himself anyway. She had never seen him before but she had educated herself on all of the deities in order to better understand them if she ever had to face them.
As Scarlet’s mind was travelling in thought, Carana continued to speak to her, resurrecting a suggestion that she had once made and Scarlet turned down. "I really think that you would thrive on our planet. You are a strong woman, political, ambitious, knowledgeable and a great fighter. Xeno would benefit from having you as one of it’s high ladies."
Cecily’s face stiffened unhappily but she looked down so that the princess would not notice her displeasure.
"Think about it. Your genes are wasted because you have one husband. Here, the strong won can take as many n as they desire. It ensures that the offspring are the best, stronger and better. For every weak child or male child from one husband, you can get two strong female ones from another."
Good Lord! How much do they dislike n here? A male child is a bad thing? She was not going to allow Justin interact with any Xenoan female, one on one.
Scarlet shook her head and laughed lightly. "Uh, thank you for the invitation but you know that I am going to turn it down. I am a governor already and honestly, I love my son too much to watch him live on a planet like yours.
To be frank, I am trying hard not to be biased or judge your traditions but it’s hard. You have seen where I co from, ours is a free for all society."
"That is fair. It is expected that you would stick to the traditions you now best. But even though your society mimics the semblance of freedom it is not exactly that. You have many male nobles, your emperor is male. Most of your academic and military fields are male dominated. How is it fair to the won?" Carana asked her.
The cars stopped and the doors opened when Carana was pausing that question which Scarlet had no intentions of answering. She had no reasons to justify why the Sunstar was the way it was.
Won were not banned from any field of their interest on their planet. If they had the ability, they could take it on.
Just as Carana had said, one sticks to the traditions they know best. Carana only believed in this female dominated tradition. Nothing Scarlet said would change her mind and she didn’t intend to try.
Severus barked sidled up to Scarlet. Looking at the biggest tree they had ever seen, he said, "Well, I think we have found the source of soul feeders." Severus said.
