She put off the pup plan for later and left her wing. She was more than late for the conference, over ten minutes late. She would have to start off by offering apologies.
As soon as she stepped out of her wing, she was grabbed and swooped up by soone who forced her into a bear like hug. The sll of the hugger was that of Adler so she relaxed.
"I am going to kill you and you deserve it." he told her.
"You will have to first let go." she banged her fist against his back.
He was holding her as if he wanted to crush her bones.
"Let go of my daughter so that I can get in a hug as well." her father said.
Adler spun her from side and side and she noticed that everyone from the family was there, including her brother’s girlfriends. What they were doing here, she had no idea since they had not made any prior plans to et.
"Oh! why are you all here?" she stretched her head over Adler’s broad shoulders to ask them.
"You were attacked, of course we ca." her mother answered. It was so obvious that they would co. What else was more important than the family gathering together after one of them had been assaulted?
Watching that footage had driven them all mad that they imdiately started searching for her. As a matter of fact, they had taken turns passing by her wing all night but the main doors leading up to it were locked and all the ans of communicating with her were cut off.
Carolyn who was already in a feisty mood which had lasted all night pushed Fey out of the way and shouted, "What kind of damage did that bastard do? Describe it all detail by detail. I want to know everything, don’t skip a beat. I will inflict the sa pain on him, no double."
"Triple." Gregor said. He used his right hand fist to punch his left palm.
Elroy and Beord sneakily chuckled at Gregor’s actions which he was mimicking from a very old movie that Scarlet played for them during the last family breakfast.
"He will not be leaving the Blue star for any kind of trial. We are already petitioning the emperor. He must serve his sentence here on our planet and we will give him the most cruel one we can think of." Dorian declared.
The others nodded enthusiastically. It had been agreed on among the Su’s that general Sang’s mistake would cost him dearly. If the cha warrior’s association was not guarding him tightly, they would have snatched him up already and showed him the Su version of justice.
"You guys know that the attack was like a week ago, right?" she asked them.
She was grateful for all their support but it was a bit over the top and unnecessary.
"Let go of your sister." Dorian Su told Adler again.
This ti round, he used his hands to try and pry them apart but it was all for naught.
Further back, where Lanta and Arya were leaning against a wall next to each other, Lanta leaned over and whispered to Arya, "Doesn’t their closeness ever bother you?"
Arya smiled and shook her head. Why would she feel insecure about a relationship between a brother and his sister? Adler was good to his mother and his sisters. This ant that he would be a good father to their daughter or daughters in future.
She was very secure in the relationship, not a fool like his ex-girlfriend Amara that wanted him to choose between her and his family.
"What happened in that office? Why did general Sang attack you and why agents of the tribunal there?" Beord asked Scarlet.
He didn’t care whether Adler chose to carry her on his head, back or neck. All he wanted were answers.
"It’s a surprise." she answered.
"Your sister is late for her press conference, let go of her." Their mother said.
Scarlet said the sa thing and Adler released her. He didn’t let go of her however and he held her right hand.
"You should have co to ." he told her. There was a hurt look in his eyes, disappointnt because she didn’t report the assault to him. She always reported to him even as a child.
Carolyn rolled her eyes secretly. She was sort of agitated because Adler made it seem as if he was the only one Scarlet could co to. What were the rest of them? Plastic siblings!!
Elroy noticed and he giggled. Carolyn had always set out to be the best big sister to Scarlet, Fey and the rest but Adler always outshined her when it ca to Scarlet. If there was a best sibling award, those two were competing for it.
"Co here." ga pushed Adler aside, and successfully extracted Scarlet from his arms.
Everyone thought Scarlet would now be moving towards her ho office and small hall where the reporters were waiting but ga pulled her in for a hug instead.
"My baby." she rubbed Scarlet’s back. "You must have been so scared.
"Yes, you must have been terrified." Dorian took the chance to squeeze himself into the hug.
Scarlet was now trapped between her parents and she was being squeezed like a patty between two buns in a hamburger.
"Did you cry yourself to sleep that night?" her mother asked. "You should have told . You are our child, and you can still sleep with us when you are scared."
"All of the Wu’s including Justin have gone to the capital. You should spend the night with us." her father suggested.
"Baby, we will take care of you properly, hmm. For just one night you don’t have to be a wife or mother, you can just be our daughter." her mother said.
ga closed her eyes as she recalled that frightful image of the mont when the big general Sang lunged and grabbed her small weak daughter by the head roughly. What if he twisted her neck?
She had barely contained her rage and she had had to break a few things around the house and scream in a rage before calming down. This governor job was a lot more dangerous than she thought.
Scarlet’s face fell and she blinked a few tis as she processed what was happening. She couldn’t figure out whether being called baby in front of her siblings was the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to her or if it was being asked to sleep in her parents bed as if she was a baby.
Her mother seed to have erased from her mind that she had an actual baby that was beginning to crawl and another one in her belly that she was expecting.
Scarlet, at twenty eight, almost twenty nine was no baby.
The Su siblings had different reactions to what was happening. Elroy was belly deep in laughter, tears were streaming down his face. Carolyn was chuckling, Fey was astonished while Beord just looked on. Halley and Gregor were distracted and playing peekaboo with Illa who was relaxed in a stroller.
"She can stay at my apartnt." Adler suggested.
"Why don’t you have your own child?" Dorian snapped at him in response.
Elroy whistled and shook his head. "Damn dad, you don’t have to be so brutal."
