"This sounds like a serious illness. Why has the association of interplanetary doctors not shared it with the rest of the star planets? It seems to like this is a fast spreading virus or infection.
Prevention at this point is the most urgent and first step which needs to be taken. You seem to have handled the matter lackadaisically right from the start." he said.
He was a bit loud and abrasive, almost as if he was blaming the nurse for the illness.
Nurse Kao Kao looked uneasy and she was not the only one.
From one of the hologram videos, the one closest to nurse Kao Kao a female doctor’s voice ca.
"The association of interplanetary doctors updates the unknown illness database regularly. It is not our duty to keep you all appraised of every illness on every star planet.
It is a well known standard practice for every doctor here to check in and keep themselves up to date regularly. If you have failed to educate yourself don’t bla us for your laziness and irresponsibility."
"Oh wow, she did not pull any punches." Scarlet thought.
"By the way, for the Blue star governor, if you don’t know my identity I am Dean Mickey, head of the association of interplanetary doctors."
Scarlet nodded, recognizing the woman whose tongue had no sweetness but was quick to critic.
She was a middle aged woman, with purple hair and a few vivid freckles around her cheekbones. What stood out most about her to Scarlet was her masculine body and an face. The lean woman whose well toned biceps were visible seed to have a hobby of lifting weights.
A sharp and stern voice of a woman jumped in suddenly and loudly.
"It is your duty to alert the empire of such potential wide spread threats. Even if the professor did not keep himself updated....."
"Are your ears failing lately professor Corm. Did you not hear nurse Kao say that the original case appeared to be an isolated incident? What did you want us to report to the ministry of health?" Dean Mickey cut professor Corm off and responded before the other woman could even finish her words.
"A case like that was too serious to be sothing simply added to the database and then left alone. You cannot escape responsibility for this ss by simply pushing all the bla on us doctors." Professor Corm.
Scarlet was about to yell order or silence when Dean Mickey loudly responded with a sarcastic voice.
"I guess you are another one who has not been updating her knowledge. Then again, you like it when the table is set for you to co in at the last minute and feast, don’t you, professor Corm?"
"Ladies, we are not here for a cat fight." A male professor in the room said.
He used ’cat fight,’ a term which Scarlet had once used to explain fights between herself and her sisters during their childhood.
Sohow, people had taken it to an a fight between won.
For this reason, all the won in the room, including Scarlet turned to face that professor. They gave him disapproving looks, forcing him to blush and look away.
"Please forgive professor Elrich, he spoke without thinking. This is not a cat fight but a disagreent of opinions between colleagues" Professor Sham said.
"Let’s move on to the next question." Nurse Kao Kao said.
"But you haven’t answered the previous one." Soone in a hologram video said.
Scarlet could see that this eting would take all day long if these people were left to their own devices.
They seed to have internal squabbles, pride and the bla ga was not about to end. She decided to answer the question even though it was not addressed to her.
"The news was probably shared to prevent a panic or because it was an isolated case. Clearly, the association acted well within its rights and laws."
Kao Kao gave Scarlet a look of appreciation and pointed to another doctor quickly.
"So, what tests have been conducted so far because we need to eliminate those and look for other solutions.
Ti seems to be of the essence in this case as three weeks is the ti limit." He asked.
Kao Kao turned the hologram in front of her around and on the screen, a different image appeared.
"You can find all this information on the database of unknown illnesses. A total of fifty eight tests have been conducted so far and no positive results.
All we are doing now is isolating patients and managing their pain."
"Have you considered an infection in the blood? Perhaps we should drain one patient, give them new blood and put them in a d bed and then to see if the issue can be fixed. A different professor suggested.
There they go with the d beds again, Scarlet thought.
"It will be better if the lungs are replaced seeing as to how coughing is the first symptom. It could be an infection of the lungs." Another suggested.
Scarlet’s jaw almost dropped. Replacing lungs!! With what exactly?
Then again, this was an interstellar Era. If they could grow children in artificial wombs, they could grow new lungs.
Smokers would surely love this Era. Ruin your lungs and get new ones just like that.
"I can see here that they have tested for NJ5, but not NJ2. Shouldn’t NJ2 have been the first test?
Yellow eyes are a symptom of NJ2 after all." She heard another doctor asking.
What in the world is NJ2? She asked herself.
This went on for fifteen more minutes, questions, suggestions and more bla going around the room.
"This disease seems to be affecting only children. Isn’t anyone curious why? There must be a reason why. Perhaps this is related to the immune system and children are lacking sothing we adults have." A female nurse at the back said.
"That is why we are advising that all schools should be closed indefinitely on the Blue star." Dean Mickey said.
Suddenly everyone seed to be in agreent as all were nodding their heads. Everyone that is, except for Scarlet.
