Chapter 995: Ning Shen’s Invitation

Editor: Henyee Translations

Gu Yang looked around Zhenxiu Restaurant but couldn’t spot Fu Mingxiu.

Fu Mingxiu had intended to introduce his online girlfriend, but he was nowhere to be found. Gu Yang suspected that Tong Rao’s presence might be the reason for his sudden departure. After all, Yan Xi and Tong Rao had taken Fu Mingxiu’s previous seats, leading Gu Yang to conclude that Fu Mingxiu’s online lover was likely Yan Xi.

Not long after, Fu Mingxiu confird this suspicion with a ssage. He explained his abrupt exit and admitted that Yan Xi was indeed his online lover, though his attempt to introduce her had failed.

Despite the twists and turns, Fu Mingxiu had ended up encountering Yan Xi. However, now that Fu Mingxiu had moved on and no longer saw Yan Xi as a substitute, the original plan was no longer relevant.

As Gu Yang, Feng Jue, and Gu Jin exited Zhenxiu Restaurant, they happened to see Ning Gui and Qiao Manman outside.

...

However, opposite Ning Gui stood Ning Shen.

Ning Shen wore a smile as he addressed Ning Gui. “Gui, are you out having fun with a friend?”

Ning Gui’s face turned pale as she nodded timidly.

Ning Shen glanced at Qiao Manman briefly, then reached out to gently caress Ning Gui’s head. With a warm smile, he said, “I thought you never liked socializing. Why have you made so many friends in university?”

Qiao Manman found Ning Shen’s deanor a bit unsettling. “And you are?”

“I’m Gui’s brother,” Ning Shen replied smoothly.

Noticing Ning Gui’s hesitance to speak, Qiao Manman assud her brother was quite controlling. She added, “Oh, I see. So you’re her brother.”

Ning Shen continued, “It’s not healthy for Ning Gui to spend all her ti studying in the dormitory and library. It’s beneficial for her to make friends and relax. Today is our class’s team-building event, and everyone is here.”

Ning Gui grasped Qiao Manman’s hand, lowered her head, and said, “Brother, I still have howork to finish. I’ll head back to the dormitory first.”

She quickly pulled Qiao Manman away, eager to leave.

Ning Shen’s fox-like eyes narrowed as he watched her retreating figure, a chuckle escaping his lips. “Gui, your mother is ill. Aren’t you going ho to see her?”

Ning Gui froze, a shiver running down her spine.

She had been staying in the dormitory since the sester began and contacted her mother weekly, so she was aware of her condition.

Ning Shen’s words were clearly a threat.

She clenched her fists and turned back to face Ning Shen. “Brother, what happened to my mother?”

“Go ho and take a look. You can also bring your friends along to play,” Ning Shen said, glancing at Qiao Manman. With a gentle tone, he asked, “What’s your na? Are you close with Gui?”

Qiao Manman responded straightforwardly, “I’m Ning Gui’s roommate. My na is Qiao Manman. Is Auntie alright?”

Before Ning Shen could answer, Ning Gui hurriedly cut in. “No need! I can go ho by myself, Brother.”

Ning Shen, however, smiled and said, “Qiao Manman, it’s rare for Gui to make a friend, so I’m delighted. You’re both welco to the Ning Family as guests.”

Despite the invitation, his bodyguards imdiately surrounded them.

Ning Shen smiled and gestured toward his luxury car. “Please.”

Qiao Manman was stunned.

Were all the wealthy families in the capital so domineering with their invitations?

She also began to sense that Ning Shen’s outward gentleness might mask sothing more sinister.

At that mont, Gu Yang, Gu Jin, and Feng Jue approached.

Gu Yang’s main concern was to prevent Ning Shen from taking Qiao Manman away. While Ning Shen might not harm Ning Gui, his possessiveness could pose a risk to Qiao Manman.

But Gu Jin spoke first. “We’re also friends of Ning Gui. Young Master Ning, I trust you don’t mind if we join as guests too?”
