Editor: Henyee Translations

eting Tong Jiayin’s disbelieving gaze, Tong Rao made no effort to hide the revulsion she felt.

Once, she had considered Tong Jiayin to be rely arrogant and naïve. Now, she saw her as nothing more than foolish and clueless.

It was no wonder her daughter had been so inept.

In contrast, thinking of Gu Yang provided so solace. Despite her frivolous nature, Gu Yang was undoubtedly smarter and more capable than this person.

“Tell everything you know, in detail. Otherwise, the Tong family’s thods of interrogating traitors will be far less lenient than what you’re experiencing now.” Tong Rao’s voice was laced with nace.

Tong Jiayin shuddered involuntarily.

Though she had never personally witnessed the family’s thods, she had heard the agonized screams of those who had been interrogated. She knew she was no match for Tong Rao and that she had no choice but to divulge everything she knew.

As she spoke, Tong Jiayin cried and begged for rcy.

Throughout the ordeal, Tong Rao remained expressionless. However, as she stood up to leave, her body swayed unsteadily.

She then went to see Tong Sinian.

Tong Sinian and Tong Jiayin were kept in separate cells to prevent any collusion.

Tong Sinian’s ntal fortitude was far superior to Tong Jiayin’s. Despite the intense interrogation, he remained silent, insisting that he wanted to wait for a lawyer.

Though surprised to see Tong Rao, Tong Sinian maintained his composure. As the heir of the Tong family, he expected that his family would secure his release, though he hadn’t anticipated that Tong Rao would co personally.

“Mother, I’m sorry for causing you trouble,” Tong Sinian said, sounding sowhat guilty.

Tong Rao regarded him coldly.

Once, she had thought of him as polite, capable, and smart. Now, she saw that he was rely skilled at pretense.

“Luo Fangfei is not here.”

At the ntion of Luo Fangfei, Tong Sinian’s expression shifted noticeably.

He struggled to keep his composure and feigned puzzlent. “Who is Luo Fangfei?”

Tong Rao sneered. “Tong Sinian, is there any point in pretending now? Tong Jiayin has already confessed everything.”

Tong Sinian cursed inwardly. Damn, what a useless teammate!

“Since you know everything, why are you still questioning ?” Tong Sinian’s deanor shifted abruptly.

Despite her revulsion towards her children, Tong Rao couldn’t ignore the fact that she had shared a mother-son relationship with them for years.

“As the heir of the Tong family, how have I wronged you? You’ve betrayed from the start?”

Tong Sinian laughed bitterly. “Betrayal? Knowing our background, you should understand this was our only option.”

“Even if I sided with you instead of Father and Luo Fangfei, once our background is exposed, would you still let remain as heir? You might even eliminate our secret just as you abandoned Gu Yang to fend for herself.”

Even though Gu Yang shared her bloodline, she was cast aside. What would beco of him, who was not biologically related? He would face an even grimr fate.

Tong Rao looked at the heir she had invested so much in, feeling a profound sense of desolation.

It seed that in his eyes, she was nothing but cold-blooded and heartless. Yet, she was still a person with flesh and blood, not entirely devoid of emotion.

Despite her grievances with their genes, they were still children she had nurtured for many years. Even if she would not pass on the Tong family’s inheritance to them, as long as they did not betray her, she had no intention of killing them.
