Unsurprisingly, the first figure to step away from the heated area and into the cold arena was Liam.

His sole figure could be seen shivering as he slowly approached the weapon rack and picked up a wooden broadsword.

Behind him, Kevin and the rest of the main cast shortly followed...however, Irene had a small fla hovering above her wand.

Alternating glances between Han and Jin, I sighed before asking.

"Why can't you guys be useful and do sothing like that."

Groaning as a cold breeze suddenly enveloped us, Jin responded.

"Oh, so we're supposed to be your personal fucking heaters? I'm so sorry, Mr. Noble, it seems like I've forgotten my fla magic at ho!"

Brushing off Jin's sarcasm, I expectantly turned to Han, wishing he had so kind of trick that he hadn't shown us.

Then...sensing my gaze, Han reached into his pocket.

With my levels of hope at an all-ti high, I watched as Han slowly removed his right hand from his pocket, revealing a...middle finger.

"..."

"..."

"..."

Fed up, I turned around and watched as Kevin began pestering Liam for a spar while the others simply crowded around Irene's fla like it was a campfire.

"Get a move on."

Hearing an authoritative voice from behind , the other students and I suddenly turned around and saw Professor Zia looking at us with a sharp e to think of it, wasn't she the head of the academy's garden?

The garden that she had poured hundreds of hours into, trying to grow materials for potions and other alchemy-related items.

That garden was on the field...right?

"ah..."

Turning around to face Jin and Han, I let out a dry cough before saying.

" *ahem* she seems to be in a bad mood today...let's not ss around."

"...yeah.

"agreed."

Pulling my blazer up onto my face and covering my cheeks, I hesitantly took my first step out of the heated coliseum hallway and into the frosty arena.

It was like going into a pool.

At first, it's super cold to the point where you can't stand it, but after a few monts of laying around, you start to get used to it and ignore it.

That first plunge, though... was deadly.

As my usual pale skin began to turn a light blue, I manifested a pair of corrupted gloves and imdiately put them on.

However...it didn't help in the slightest. Enjoy exclusive content from My Virtual Library Empire

Corruption was a cold material in itself, so it only amplified the cold temperate in the arena.

De-manifesting the gloves, I finally reached the weapon stand and looked around for a bit.

I didn't really have a preferred weapon as I alternated between using a sword, daggers, and a bow.

Should I try sothing new today?

Behind , Han and Jin finally caught up before picking their respective weapons, Han with his wooden crossbow and Jin with his sleek odachi.

Shivering, two grabbed their weapons before retreating to a corner of the arena, trying to avoid the sight of Professor Zia so they could rest.

As more and more students began to fold under the pressure of Professor Zia's gaze and step into the cold arena, I sighed before leaning down.

Weapon...weapon, which one?

"hm?"

Feeling a tap on my right shoulder, I curiously turned around, only to be t with an expected figure.

In front of was Liam, standing with his signature wooden broadsword in hand.

Usually, Liam would spar with Kevin while Zach trained with the magicians, focusing on learning how to deflect spells with his axe.

Yet, as I peered past him, I spotted Lily facing Ruby, Irene against Alya, and, finally, Zach against Kevin.

Who was Liam with, then?

As if reading my mind, Liam nodded his head and stretched his sword before saying.

"Spar with ."

"..."

Sohow, the temperature in the arena managed to get even lower as everyone began staring at Liam and with confused expressions.

Picking up a small recurve bow and a pair of dual daggers from the stand, I turned around and looked around for a bit.

The whole reason I had co to class today was to observe Liam's behavior...so sparring with him would be useful.

But...why did Liam want to spar with ?

I knew he had recognized my strength ever since the carriage battle where we fought, so why was he only challenging now?

Did he think he was stronger than now?

Strapping a quiver of arrows around my back and allowing my bow to hang down, I surprisingly nodded my head.

There was nothing to lose or gain in this scenario.

Perhaps training with Liam could even help break through in my dagger mastery, which had been stuck for a while.

Of course, that was my fault as I didn't opt to use daggers in fights recently, but to be fair, a bow was a better option in those scenarios.

Dropping the bow but keeping the quiver strapped around my back, I grabbed two wooden curved daggers and pointed to an empty area in the coliseum.

"There?"

Nodding his head, Liam walked away a distance away from before arriving at the spot I had pointed to.

Following behind him, I lightly waved at Han and Jin, who had already begun fighting upon seeing agree to Liam.

Within a few monts, I was standing with my daggers ready, a couple of ters in front of Liam.

"On 3?"

Nodding his head to my question, Liam raised three fingers on his left hand.

"3."

"2."

"1."

Side-stepping for the right in case Liam imdiately charged at , I kept my eyes locked on Liam's figure.

This was going to be a fight of pure skill.

No overpowered skills, no corruption for , no divine-blue aura for Liam, and no flashes.

All we were using were the wooden weapons in front of us and nothing of us.

No magical sword slashes or anything like that.

A good old-fashioned duel.
