Hesta was gone just as soon as she ca. Once again he was left alone in this old, decrepit, dead throne room. Just ahead of him was the altar, which was sohow empty despite the fact he had killed Yck.
Every part of his being wanted to go back. So outside force was even egging on that influence, sohow making it so that even if he tried to move forward he would remain in place.
All of that could fuck off. Back in his new world, demons were flying in from an endless abyss and killing everything in sight. If he didn't find a way to the altar right here and now, then all of their deaths would be on his head.
He was the Progenitor of Destruction. If so barrier existed in front of him, he would destroy it. If so doubt lingered in his mind, he would destroy it. If so entity was blocking his path, he would destroy it.
'So, are you going to show your ugly face or am I going to have to destroy a perfectly good throne room?' Nick called out internally, knowing Khaic could hear him.
Hesta had said he was near. Nick was almost certain that's who was blocking his access to the altar.
For a few seconds, a deadly silence hung over the room. Even the fire that usually danced atop the candles hung perfectly still. It was as if existence itself awaited the answer.
But the path to the altar wasn't going to be opened because of so silly threat. Nick could feel that down to his core; even though he had no idea where Khaic was, he could hear his hearty laughter at such a ridiculous promise.
Destroy the throne room? Go ahead.
That's what his absence told Nick. Then, in the next second, a gust of wind stronger than any tornado shook through the entire throne room. Though it took Nick all of his strength not to be unmoored from where he stood, none of his environnts seed to share this struggle.
Even the nigh weightless candlesticks stood still. Flas shined brightly through the gust, and not even a single of the nearly uprooted bricks budged an inch.
Only one other thing moved–the curtains of the Forgotten Kingdoms. Beyond them, now made known to Nick, was a horror unlike anything he'd ever seen before.
Oblivion.
Darkness.
Maelstrom
Chaos.
Hatred.
Anguish.
Every negative aspect of existence belonged here. It was a sight so horrible that just a suggestion of its description would cause most to claw their eyes out. Like any terror, Nick sohow knew it was very individualistic as well.
This plane was not limited to a singular form. Each and every unfortunate soul that found themselves in this realm would experience sothing different and yet uniform at the sa ti.
If one person was afraid of spiders, they would find themselves in the middle of a terrain dominated by all forms of spiders that ca in all different sizes. Their own flesh would be replaced with mandibles and spiky legs and other characteristics of their worst nightmares. Every passing second would feel as though they were being consud by an arachnid. Internally, they would feel a million of them hatching from thousands of different eggs within their stomach.
Even the King of the Cosmos, the Progenitor of Destruction, the Dragon Walker, couldn't help but shake against such a primordial void of despair. It was a sensation far deeper than just nothingness.
If it wasn't for his own transcendent existence, Nick knew that his mind would've shattered even from just this sheltered glimpse. Every single crack of existence, every malformation, and an insidious entity called this place its ho.
Like any other parasite, they wanted to expand.
And now was a perfect ti to do so. Now that all of the gods were dead.
'Most of them.' Nick thought though this small glimr of hope couldn't even begin to fight against this encroaching madness.
"Quite chilling, isn't it? To see what made you, what makes all of us."
A deep, chilling voice interjected between Nick's stare. Though he had never heard this voice in his life, not even in the ga, he instantly knew who it belonged to.
Khaic.
He was here.
Nick gripped his [Fang of Finality] tight as he whipped around, ready to face the demon head-on. As Hesta said, one day, he would beco one of Nick's footsoldiers. There was nothing to fear fighting him today.
He turned to nothing. Khaic's voice was there, but his body wasn't. All that existed in this room was his disembodied consciousness.
The real one was leading the crusade against his new existence.
"You can see it, can't you? Maybe not in all its everlasting glory, not yet. You are still a re tadpole, unable to eat even this fly in front of you. Worry not, Progenitor. In ti, you will grow."
Nick gritted his teeth as this irritable voice surrounded him. This was what had been stopping him from making his journey to the first altar all of this ti. So stupid demon that loved to talk.
'I don't need ti to destroy you. I've already completed that journey. I've unlocked the first seal of Annihilation, and once I reap its powers I'm going to destroy you.'
A soft cackle erupted across the throne room, finally causing the flas to move as they flickered.
"Destroy ? No. That isn't why you were led to this altar, dear Progenitor. You see, like any species we are rciful. Even a demon allows one person to survive their endless conquests. You are that person."
Khaic's voice stopped for just a second, allowing its aning to soak into Nick's very being. Had he been led to this power, then? Was that basically what he was saying?
"We kill, we maim, we torture. Yes, we do all that and yet we are rciful. Compared to you walkers, our subjects must think of us as so kind of benevolent god. That's why he has set all of this in motion... Progenitor."
"Elise was the last person our rcy has touched, and you already know how that ended. I wonder... when my rcy reaches its hand out to you... after everything else is taken away... Juliana, Alia, Ugyr... How many realities will you destroy?"
A dark shadow cast across Nick's face as he heard him talk. Another stupid enemy who wanted to play tough guy against him and those he loved. The last person who did that ended up kneeling to Nick right before his head was sliced off.
So how many realities would he destroy?
'How many realities does Oblivion contain? Because I don't have rcy, not anymore. I'm going to eradicate your people as a whole.'
