'Oblivion rests?'

Could the system ever try being helpful? What the heck was he supposed to do with such a cryptic and foreboding ssage like that?

However, that ssage did seem to bring another action to life. The crowd that had completely ignored the crew now seed attached to their existence. Elders and youth alike walked or rushed over to ask their incessant questions.

"Where you co from?"

"You bring Ghynto?"

"How's the war?"

"Did you hear about the Red Sky?"

"Have you seen King Styrk?"

Four of the five mbers scratched their heads as they were bombarded with questions they had no hope of answering.

'Do I sll bad?' Nick thought, wondering if he had rembered to put on his deodorant this morning. He was pretty sure he had.

But then... why were they ignoring him!

He was the most kingly out of everyone here!

"H-hey mister." A small voice called from the side of him, followed by a slight rustling in his clothes. Finally, soone noticed him! Even if it was a kid–

The girl was pulling on Yck's hand, oblivious to the fact she had accidentally touched Nick.

'Seriously? Even the kids are ignoring ?'

Yck looked down at the girl, a surprised smile forming on his face. He lifted a hand to silence so businessman trying to haggle him for a pair of broken glasses ("The shattered glass allows you to see many things at once!") before asking her, "Hey. How can I help you!"

A lighthearted chuckle erupted from the girl as she pointed to a group of other kids. "Mister, they wanted to know if you would play tag?"

'TAG?! What kind of dungeon is this...'

Nick was 99 percent sure that dungeons in video gas were supposed to have like ancient skeletons and murderous vampires and all the other monsters of chaos. Not so innocent kids asking to play tag...

Though, considering his last experience in a dungeon, he didn't really mind a more llow experience. As long as it stayed that way.

"Sure." Yck was pulled with a godly ferocity the second he approved. Squeals of laughter filled the air as the girl and her friends jumped with glee, happy to have a grown-up who wanted to spend ti with them.

Nick watched the developnt with a mix of distaste and dread. His mind reached for the Fang while simultaneously pushing it away.

Killing Yck would be a lot easier if he could demonize him...

But right now he simply looked human. Like soone who only ventured into dungeons so that he could survive, but in actuality he was not prepared for them. He simply wanted to spend a life of happiness.

This Yck could be the real him... a guy who couldn't be more delighted to make a few kids' day.

Hoping the coward would do sothing to prove Nick's newfound 'admiration' wrong, he followed Yck.

...

30 minutes passed, and the most suspicious thing Yck had done was deliberately allow himself to be tagged.

The second the kid—so fat ginger who couldn't really run well nad Ben—tagged him, Yck laughed and said, "You got !"

Nick could clearly see the ruse, but the sa couldn't be expected from children. They laughed and giggled, especially little Ben. One of them even squeaked, "Ha! You're a slow adult!"

His indignation was quickly punished as Yck picked him up, carrying him over his shoulders and completely ignoring the kid's flailing arms. The other kids jumped in rhythm with the boy's terrified squeals.

"Let down! Let down!"

"I-I'll tell Gera!"

The kid's onslaught stopped as Yck set him down and asked, "Who's that?"

He pouted and threw his face to the side in an attempt to give the silent treatnt.

Another kid stepped forward and began to say, "She's our–" but Yck silenced her by raising his finger to his lips.

Then he turned back to the kid and asked, "Is she like a nanny? Soone who takes care of you while your parents are away?"

The kid shook his head before saying, "No. We–"

Another piped up and said, "Hey, don't worry! You're a good adult!"

Yck flashed a smile before jumping back up to his feet. "Well, moping about being an orphan isn't gonna change anything. You've got quite a few nice friends here, why don't you team up and tell Gera to shove it."

Giggles mixed with appalled gasps, as the kids both enjoyed his belittlent of Gera but were also scared of her potential backlash.

While watching this, Nick could only wonder when Yck beca so good with kids. Maybe he was an older brother or sothing?

'Ehh. Gas don't teach you these kinds of things...'

...

Most of the day passed innocently just like that. After so ti Nick got bored watching Yck be so kind of family man, so he went back to the others in the group.

Apparently, Sylus and Magnus had gone off sowhere.

"Hopefully they don't cause too much trouble. As long as half the town remains, I'd say it's a win." Glynt sighed before drinking another pint of beer in one gulp. 20 down, and who knows how many are left to go.

'If a wave of monsters attacked us this instant... I'd be the only fighter!' Nick thought, lanting the blatantly terrible leadership Glynt was showing.

How could he just let Yck run off to play with so kids? How could he let 2 idiots who only knew how to fight each other run off into town? Even if monsters didn't show up, they would probably just fight each other and decimate the town themselves.

'And how the hell can you drink 30 pints of beer and not be drunk!!!'

The bartender was like a smiling machine gun, replacing the orc's pints faster than the speed of light. As long as his safe was being filled with gold coins, he was more than happy to keep the pace as well.

Really, between all the A-Ranks, sohow Nick found himself to be the only one actually ready to raid this dungeon. Everyone else might as well have gone on vacation.

[Quest Received!]

'Quest?'

[Quest: Path of Annihilation started]

[First task: obtain the Key of Avarice]

'Well, it took long enough for the dungeon to start acting like a dungeon...' Nick thought as he looked for a marker overhead. In most RPGs, the ga would basically hold the player's hands and offer them all the directions during a quest.

Thankfully, that was the case here.

Leaving the orc in his should-be-drunk-but-sohow-isn't stupor, Nick took his first step to annihilation.
