Even though it later turned out to just be a piece of chicken that looked a bit like that shape, that lunch still left a deep, unforgettable shadow in Rong Xingyu’s young heart.
Now, just hearing the word "chicken" made him feel a strange discomfort, almost like a reflex.
When Rong Zishan saw Rong Xingyu bring out a plate of vegetables, his handso face instantly fell.
Ever since last weekend, he had been eating vegetables for several days in a row!
Sure, in Rong Xingyu’s hands even vegetarian dishes tasted great, but Rong Zishan felt like his face was literally turning green from all the greens he had been eating.
"Xiaoyu, I really know I was wrong," Rong Zishan said with both hands pressed together as if praying, trying to win him over. "I just want to eat at again! Please, I’m begging you!"
Looking at his brother’s helpless and shaless expression, Rong Xingyu sighed and shook his head. Then he turned around and brought out a new dish from the kitchen, it was a steaming plate of beer braised duck.
The last al with Dr. Ding had been so awkward that Rong Xingyu barely tasted anything he ate.
After dinner, Dr. Ding had politely taken his leave and as the host, Rong Xingyu felt guilty for not entertaining him properly.
But Dr. Ding had actually comforted him, telling him not to worry about it.
That only made Rong Xingyu feel more guilty. Dr. Ding was so kind and gentle that he couldn’t stop blaming himself.
He sighed quietly, wondering if he would ever get another chance to invite Dr. Ding over again.
"Yay! Xiaoyu, you’re the best!"
Rong Zishan cheered loudly, wagging his taphorical tail like an overexcited golden retriever. He quickly ran over, took the plate from Rong Xingyu’s hands, and said, "I got it, I got it! You’ve worked hard enough!"
The rich aroma of beer braised duck filled the air and just the sll made Rong Zishan’s mouth water uncontrollably.
Without waiting for it to cool, he picked up a piece with his fingers and popped it straight into his mouth.
After finally tasting at again, the flavor was so good that tears almost ca to his eyes.
As he chewed the delicious duck, sothing suddenly ca to mind. He swallowed the at quickly and said, "Xiaoyu, rember what I told you about trying on clothes? Let’s go this afternoon."
Rong Xingyu’s hand paused in midair as he was picking up so vegetables, then he nodded obediently. "Okay."
Last ti, his fourth brother had co ho specifically to tell him that the Rong family would be hosting a birthday banquet for him at the end of the month.
"There’s no need to make such a big deal out of it..." Rong Xingyu had said, a little stunned at the idea.
The words birthday banquet sounded so far removed from his life, it’s like sothing that only happened on TV.
But strangely enough, the original body he now lived in also had a birthday on the 24th of this month. The exact sa day as his own.
He had rarely celebrated birthdays before.
When he was young, Rong Xingyu had looked forward to his birthdays.
It ant he was another year older, a little closer to being able to take care of his family.
But when he finally grew up, matured early, and learned to be responsible, he stopped celebrating his birthdays altogether.
However, his own birth had always been a little special, he was born on a snowy night, right before Christmas Eve. Because of that, Rong Xingyu always rembered his birthday very clearly.
Now, hearing Rong Zishan ntion it, he realized that the body’s original owner actually shared the sa birthday as him.
Oh, and apparently Rong Zhihao did too.
...It seed like everyone in this family had decided to celebrate it together.
The Rong family had planned to hold one big birthday banquet for both of them.
Rong Xingyu felt both nervous and overwheld.
He was just a minor character in this family, yet now he was expected to share a birthday celebration with soone who seed like the center of everyone’s attention.
"How can you call it trouble? A birthday only cos once a year and of course, we have to celebrate it properly."
Rong Zishan waved his hand carelessly, completely unbothered. "There’ll be a lot of guests at the banquet because of the Rong family’s na. If you don’t like crowds, just find a quiet spot to eat sothing and relax. Don’t be nervous, our oldest brother will be there to handle things."
"After the banquet’s over, we’ll have another al at ho, just us family and give you a proper birthday celebration."
Since Rong Zishan had already said so much, Rong Xingyu didn’t feel right refusing anymore.
He nodded softly. "...Alright."
That afternoon, Rong Xingyu sat in Rong Zishan’s car as they drove to a private tailor shop that specialized in custom suits.
Since the 24th was coming up fast, there wasn’t enough ti to design a suit from scratch. Taking asurents, choosing fabrics, and tailoring everything by hand would take too long.
So, they could only pick one from the ready made suits in the store and have it adjusted to fit Rong Xingyu’s build.
Following behind Rong Zishan, Rong Xingyu entered the boutique.
The store manager clearly recognized Rong Zishan and greeted him with deep respect, he then personally leading them over to view the suits.
Several suits were neatly displayed in a row. Though each one had a slightly different design, all of them had fine craftsmanship, excellent fabrics, and an unmistakably expensive look.
But the one that imdiately caught the eye, the one that drew attention the mont anyone entered was the pure white suit displayed in the center of the boutique.
It was a completely white suit, yet it shimred faintly with silver patterns under the light.
The subtle contrast made it look anything but plain; instead, it gave off an elegant and noble aura.
