When Shu Yan arrived at the sales office the next day, Manager Wang was already waiting there.

“Boy, your news is sure up to date. Yes, that is the plan right now but competition was high over that piece of land. We are not entirely sure that we will be able to win the bid.” He may have said that but Manager Wang certainly sounded very confident.
“Is it going to be one similar to this one?” Shu Yan was debating about buying another house.
“That’s still too soon to say and I don’t have the details. We haven’t even won the bid yet. It’s still too premature to talk about that right now.” Manager Wang smiled and asked, ‘You plan to buy a place?”
“Nah, I’m just asking. I don’t have the money to buy another place.” Shu Yan was debating about whether to buy a property in a residential area or a comrcial area. Back in these days, the ownership of a residence was not very defined and she was a little worried. Even a house in a village wasn’t easy to buy. Mainly because of the lack of deed. It would just be a written contract. All was fine and good until the demolition happened. With a large amount was involved, the original owner might have ideas. Shu Yan was not a native here and the natives would for sure help each other out. She may not be able to win even if she takes the matters to court. So buying a place and wait for the demolish wasn’t an easy feat.
Manager Wang smiled and obviously did not buy into what Shu Yan had said. A person who could pay cash for a 120 square ter place for sure would have more resources.
“I’m sure you are looking to buy properties for investnt purposes. Then a place at City Nan is not your best bet. I say a better location will be over at Xiaonann. You stand to gain a lot when the demolition happens.” Manager Wang couldn’t afford it himself. Otherwise, he’d for sure buy a few properties right now and sit on them.
Shu Yan understood what he ant. She smiled and asked, “You have insider information?” She recalled that Xiaonann seed to have been demolished around 1994 or 1995. But a lot of the preparations had likely started years ago.
“No, I’m just saying.” Manageer Wang denied it.
Shu Yan decided to not pry any further as he had denied it. That being said, she could give Xiaonann area a thought.
Manager Wang must have let them know ahead of ti. The entire process took less than an hour and Shu Yan had officially moved her household register to City Nan.
With her new household register in her hand, Shu Yan flipped it open and saw her na under the head of household section, followed by her elder daughter Shu Jinxi and elder son Shu Jinchen. She put it away carefully.
“Thank you so much for you help. Join us for lunch?” Shu Yan invited Manager Wang sincerely.
“I need to go back to work and I have a eting in the afternoon. I apologize. Next ti. My treat next ti.” Manager Wang declined her politely.
Shu Yan stopped him and handed him two boxes of cigarettes. “Okay, if you can’t do lunch with us, at least accept this cigarette as token for appreciation.”
“Ah, I will take that then.”
Shu Yan patted her purse. From today forward, her and her children would be residents of City Nan. They had no more ties to City Xi.
Thinking of City Xi, Shu Yan gave Shu Jianyang a call from a public phone nearby.
