When HuMing stepped into the empty room, he imdiately understood—Francis must have fled the mont he broke into the facility.

His gaze swept the area before landing on a projector humming softly in the corner.

On the wall, the projection flickered to life.

Three separate images filled the screen.

Ye QiuXue and Kang Xin. Xia XiaoXi and Han YunXi. And… a face he didn’t recognize.

The unfamiliar man smiled when he saw HuMing.

But HuMing knew exactly who he was.

In both this life and the last, this person had been a constant, obstructive force in his path.

The appearance may have changed, but the eyes—they never lied.

“HuMing, so you finally made it to the show.”

Of course, Francis had known HuMing would make it here.

Because no one knew HuMing’s capabilities better than Francis did.

“Francis, even with a new face, you're still the sa as before. Nothing’s changed.”

He stared at the projection, unsure of who exactly he was looking at.

“Nothing's changed? Look closer, HuMing. I’m not the sa man I once was. The person standing before you now… can change the world.”

Francis opened his arms dramatically, as if embracing all that lay before him.

But to HuMing, it looked more like a clown putting on a one-man show.

Slowly, Francis’s smile faded.

His eyes bore into HuMing’s, as if trying to pierce through him with sheer will. But everyone knew—he couldn’t.

“That look again, HuMing!”

“That’s the sa damn look you gave back then!”

He slamd his fist onto the table. His fury burned in his eyes like wildfire.

“Am I really that insignificant in your eyes? Even after everything I’ve done—killing all those people, manipulating the ones closest to you—you still look at like that! Don’t I deserve to be your opponent?!”

It wasn’t the first ti HuMing had heard sothing like this.

Back when he dealt with Gu ZhaoChuan, the guy had said the sa thing.

He hadn’t realized, until now, how many people were desperate for his recognition.

But HuMing never looked down on anyone.

He had never gone out of his way to crush soone unless they left him no choice—like Gu ZhaoChuan, who had tried again and again to eliminate him.

And Francis... Francis had stood in the way of his mission.

And…

HuMing’s mind flashed back to that mont—HuMin dying in his arms.

“All of this... just to be my opponent?”

His voice was quiet, his eyes unreadable—no emotion, no judgnt.

But to Francis, this wasn’t the HuMing he had once known.

He suddenly jumped to his feet, shaking his head frantically.

“No. No, that’s wrong. That look in your eyes—it’s wrong. You’re not HuMing!”

“If I’m not HuMing, then who am I?”

“Your eyes… they’ve changed. Why? Is it because of them? Did those people change you?”

Francis was stunned.

He’d investigated HuMing’s past thoroughly in his last life. There wasn't much information, but he’d pieced together enough to know: HuMing was cold, ruthless, and would do anything to complete a mission.

But now?

Now his eyes had softened.

That sharp edge, once ever-present, was gone.

“No… no, you can’t be like this. There’s no aning in defeating soone like you!” Francis scread, almost deranged. “I didn’t do all this just to end up with this!”

But HuMing cut him off.

“Francis, you really are the sa as before. No matter how cruel your words sound, your eyes still give you away—they’re filled with weakness.”

“Weakness? You think I’m weak, HuMing?”

“If you weren’t, would you be hiding in a place like this? If you weren’t, why not face in person instead of running away? And if you weren’t weak, why are you still using others to threaten —just like you did back then?”

Each word stabbed into Francis like a knife.

He wanted to deny it—but he couldn’t.

His fists clenched so tightly they shook. His eyes turned bloodshot.

“Aren’t you afraid they’ll die in front of you, just like last ti?!”

“If you think you can do it—try.”

HuMing turned and walked to the bookshelf. With a swift kick, he knocked it over, revealing a hidden passage behind.

Francis’s eyes widened in shock, but he quickly forced himself to calm down.

“HuMing… this ti, I’ll bury you with my own hands!”

“You’re not the first to say that, and you won’t be the last.”

With that, he disappeared into the passage.

Francis stood frozen, watching the fading silhouette.

He took a deep breath, regaining his composure.

Then he picked up the phone.

“It’s ti. Make your move. And send the photos.”

Zero hung up the call and turned his gaze toward the vast sea beyond.

Just hours ago, he’d left that island—carrying out Francis’s orders.

He recalled the conversation in the office. Francis had looked him in the eye and laid out his mission with brutal clarity.

“Han YunXi’s life is in your hands now. You know full well—those people have nothing to do with you. Whether they live or die ans nothing. Because the one who raised you… was .”

Zero sat in silence, eyes closed, lost in thought.

If HuMing failed this ti, everything would fall apart.

He knew Francis’s ambition.

He knew just how much groundwork had been laid for this final plan.

If it ca to fruition…

The entire world would be plunged into chaos.

Kang Xin wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth. She clutched her weapon tightly, her eyes scanning the surroundings.

Behind her, Ye QiuXue frowned deeply.

From the mont they stepped outside, they had felt it—soone was tailing them.

And once they reached a deserted road, their pursuers stopped hiding.

They ca at them like rabid dogs, relentless and wild.

During the clash, Kang Xin had felt bullets whistle past her ears.

She was dancing on the edge of death.

Suddenly, a pistol was shoved into Ye QiuXue’s hand.

She looked up in shock to see Kang Xin’s steady eyes.

“Protect yourself. Leave the rest to .”

“YunXi… have you noticed sothing’s off?” Xia XiaoXi glanced nervously at the rearview mirror.

A car was following them. Too closely.

Her heart was pounding.

Too much had happened lately—too many strange, unnerving things.

And now this pursuit?

It was no coincidence.

Han YunXi was at the wheel. Her face was grim.

She said nothing. She’d noticed it too.

“They’re probably from the Shi family. Trying to capture us and use us as leverage against HuMing.”

The words had barely left her mouth when she floored the gas, trying to lose them.

But the pursuers were relentless—clinging to them like shadows.

Suddenly, Xia XiaoXi saw one of the n lean out the window with a gun.

“Watch out!”

A gunshot shattered the side mirror, and both girls’ hearts leapt into their throats.
