“All right,” Ruo Dan said with a shrug, “as an apology, I’ll let you handle this. But you should know—if HuMing doesn’t die, you will.”

He could’ve taken out Han ShuYi then and there, but why bother? As long as he could push the responsibility onto soone else, there was no need to get his hands dirty yet.

And besides, he was watching Han ShuYi closely. There was no way he’d let him spare HuMing.

So, for now, he agreed.

Han ShuYi’s eyes locked onto the mountain cave as it was slowly dug open. He walked straight in.

Ruo Dan, hands in his coat pockets, stayed where he was. No way he’d risk going into that unstable cave. If another aftershock hit, he wasn’t about to get himself buried.

Inside the cave, as the flashlight beam fell on them, HuMing instinctively shielded Han YunXi behind him.

But a shadow rushed forward. A hand seized HuMing’s collar and slamd him to the ground.

HuMing, drained of all strength, hit the stone floor hard—unable to resist.

Han YunXi cried out, eyes wide with shock. She tried to push the attacker away, only to be shoved down herself.

Light poured in through the newly opened entrance. It took her eyes a mont to adjust.

When she saw the attacker’s face, her heart skipped a beat.

“Han ShuYi?!”

He didn’t even glance her way. Instead, he crouched in front of HuMing.

“No more chances now, HuMing,” he said coldly. “You’ve reached the end of the road.”

Then he yanked HuMing to his feet.

HuMing stared at him, still stunned. He hadn’t expected Han ShuYi of all people to find him first.

Just now, Han ShuYi had slipped sothing into his pocket. HuMing hadn’t touched it, but he understood—it was a signal.

He looked back at Han ShuYi, sneering.

“Heh. If you’re going to kill , then get it over with. But don’t forget—you’re just a loser who needs soone else to take revenge for him.”

Whistles echoed from the thugs around them. Even now, HuMing was talking back. No wonder their boss paid him so much attention.

Han ShuYi took a deep breath, grabbed HuMing by the collar, and dragged him outside.

Han YunXi tried to follow, but her legs gave out and she collapsed to the ground. One of the n grabbed her roughly and began pulling her out.

When Ruo Dan saw them erge, he grinned and snapped a photo of HuMing’s disheveled, bloodied state before sending it to Gu ZhaoChuan.

“So you’re HuMing, huh?” he said mockingly. “Scheming against Gu ZhaoChuan all this ti… Bet you never thought you’d go down here, did you?”

HuMing narrowed his eyes at the short man, already thinking about his next move.

But before he could act, Han ShuYi dragged him off toward the woods.

“Hm? Where’re you going, Han ShuYi? You better not be trying to help him escape,” Ruo Dan called after him.

At his words, the others imdiately raised their weapons, aiming cautiously at Han ShuYi.

But Han ShuYi didn’t flinch. He just kept walking.

“I’m just making sure he suffers what I did,” he said. “Every ti I close my eyes, I rember the knife he drove into my shoulder. Now it’s ti I return the favor.”

“You’d better stop there,” Ruo Dan warned, raising his gun. “I gave you permission to kill him—not to overstep your bounds.”

Han ShuYi turned, a crooked smile twisting his face.

“Overstep my bounds? I think you misunderstood sothing. I agreed to this because I wanted to kill him. Now you’re telling I can’t? Do you not understand what a deal is?”

“You really think you’re in a position to negotiate with ?” Ruo Dan asked with a smirk.

He was sure of his advantage. Even if he had to kill Han ShuYi, he could clean it up. A hassle, sure—but not a problem.

But now… Han ShuYi wasn’t acting like soone under control.

“Looks like you do want to kill ,” Han ShuYi said. “But too bad—for you. Thanks to HuMing, I learned one thing: always leave yourself a way out.”

He pulled a phone from his pocket and continued calmly, “Gu ZhaoChuan wants to stay the proud young master of the Gu family, right? So what do you think would happen if people learned the truth about his identity—and how he’s been working with you?”

Ruo Dan’s face went pale. He hadn’t expected Han ShuYi to go this far.

Maybe it was a bluff—but could he risk it?

No. If that secret got out, he’d be a dead man.

After a long breath, Ruo Dan signaled his n to lower their weapons.

“Fine. You win.”

Han ShuYi shot him a scornful glance, then dragged HuMing toward the mountain’s edge.

Han YunXi tried to shout, but soone stuffed a towel in her mouth. Her eyes widened in horror as she watched helplessly.

Han ShuYi didn’t go far. He stopped at the edge of a steep cliff.

HuMing stared at him, eyes dark with a strange light.

Han ShuYi inhaled slowly, then spoke.

“HuMing. From the mont you turned on , did you ever think it would co to this? That soone you dismissed… would one day step on your neck and take your life?”

“Han ShuYi,” HuMing said flatly, “do you really think you’ve made it this far on your own? You’re just one of Gu ZhaoChuan’s pawns.”

“And so what if I am?” Han ShuYi laughed bitterly. “As long as I achieve my goal—what does it matter who used ?”

He raised his gun, pointing it straight at HuMing’s heart.

“Any last words? I might consider granting them.”

HuMing turned to glance at Han YunXi in the distance. She was shaking her head violently.

He turned back to Han ShuYi.

“Take care of Han YunXi. She’s still your sister… in so way.”

Then, slowly, he stood and took a step closer to the edge of the cliff—just like he had that ti with Lee Tian.

“Last ti you cheated death, HuMing,” Han ShuYi sneered. “Let’s see how this one ends. Not that you’ll be around to find out.”

He pulled the trigger.

Blood sprayed from HuMing’s chest. His body toppled backward over the cliff’s edge.

The forest exploded with panicked birds, scattered by the crack of the gunshot.

Han YunXi’s eyes rolled back—and she collapsed in a dead faint.
