When the two of them stepped out of the restroom, Xia Chen tugged at HuMing’s sleeve.

HuMing turned his head, puzzled, thinking Xia Chen had sothing to ask. But to his surprise, Xia Chen lowered his head slightly and said,

“Sorry, HuMing. I haven’t been in a good state of mind… For what I did earlier, please forgive .”

Thinking back to what he'd done yesterday and just now, Xia Chen found himself at a loss. He didn’t know how to face HuMing.

HuMing had been thinking for their sake all along. It wasn’t that Xia Chen was trying to feel touched by that—but there was no denying that HuMing had genuinely helped them a lot throughout this whole ss.

What happened today… if HuMing hadn’t pulled him back to his senses, he might’ve really gone charging after the mastermind on his own. And who knows if he’d even have made it halfway before getting killed.

A stifling gloom clung to Xia Chen like a shadow. Even though his mood was at rock bottom—

He still tried to appear calm.

He didn’t want those around him worrying even more.

“There's no need to talk about forgiveness,” HuMing said, placing a hand on Xia Chen’s shoulder. “I understand this isn’t sothing easy for you to accept. Xia Chen, no one your age should have to go through sothing like this. The price for growing up… it's been too steep.”

Xia Chen pressed his lips together, staying silent. Who knew what was going through his mind?

When they reached the hospital room, HuMing gently pushed the door open, just about to speak—only to freeze at the sight before him.

Xia XiaoXi and Ye QiuXue were curled up together on a single bed, sound asleep, their breathing soft and steady.

Their peaceful expressions made it clear they had fallen into a deep slumber. HuMing hadn’t expected them to talk themselves to sleep like that—but thinking about it, no one probably slept well last night.

A faint smile tugged at HuMing’s lips. Xia Chen, who followed him in, saw the sa scene—and finally let out a breath of relief.

Seeing his sister sleeping soundly, he visibly relaxed.

At the sa ti, he rubbed his forehead. It seed like exhaustion was starting to catch up to him.

He’d been running around handling the Xia family’s affairs since last night. He didn’t have much power, but at the very least, he could still take care of his sister.

“Let’s go. Let them rest. You should go ho and get so sleep too. I’ve still got a few things to take care of.”

“…Alright.”

Xia Chen gave his sister one last glance before slowly closing the door behind him.

But HuMing didn’t leave with him.

Instead, he turned and walked toward another floor—where soone very important was waiting for him.

HuMing pushed open another hospital room door. The mont he stepped inside, he saw Kang Xin leaning quietly by the window.

The breeze outside stirred her hair as she stared out in silence, lost in thought.

At the sound of the door opening, she looked over instinctively.

Seeing HuMing, she moved as if to stand—

—but he stopped her.

“Don’t move. You’re injured, and you’re still wandering around? You think your body’s made of steel?”

HuMing crossed the room in a few strides. Seeing her composed expression, he finally relaxed.

Still, there was no hiding the pallor in her face—undoubtedly a result of her injuries from last night.

“Why aren’t you lying down? Last night Shi Ren nearly killed you. If you'd arrived at the hospital even a minute later, the outco could’ve been very different.”

“…I can’t rest lying down,” Kang Xin said simply.

But with HuMing’s help, she returned to the bed anyway.

The movent clearly made her uncomfortable, but she never uttered a sound. It was as if she didn’t want to trouble HuMing with her pain.

HuMing looked at her stubborn expression, montarily at a loss for words.

He sat beside her, picked up an apple, and began peeling it.

“I never ant for you to get involved last night. You insisted on coming, and I agreed—but did you forget the promise between us?”

His tone wasn’t comforting—instead, there was a hint of reproach, blaming her for what had happened.

“I didn’t forget. But the situation changed so quickly. I didn’t realize Shi Ren had already noticed .”

“If he’d attacked you right then, you wouldn’t even be in this bed now. You got lucky, that’s all.”

HuMing stopped peeling and looked straight at her.

“Kang Xin, I’m really angry.”

Their eyes t, and Kang Xin quickly looked away.

She’d seen the fury in his gaze—and for so reason, it made her feel deeply guilty.

Silence filled the room.

Just as Kang Xin was about to speak—

—the sound of the apple being peeled resud, followed by HuMing’s sigh.

“…Forget it. What’s done is done. I just hope, from now on, you’ll think about your own safety first. If we miss a chance, there will always be another. But if you lose your life—then it’s really over.”

Soone like Shi Ren—HuMing knew his type well. That guy wouldn’t go easy on you just because you were a civilian.

If you were useless to him, he’d get rid of you without hesitation.

“Alright, let’s leave the scolding here. Now, tell … what’s your relationship with Bai XingQi?”

HuMing had many thoughts running through his mind. He more or less knew there was a connection between them—Kang Xin had ntioned it before.

Her gaze dropped slightly. She hadn’t expected to encounter that big sister here of all places.

But thinking back, it now made perfect sense why she’d seen her at the graveyard that day.

“Bai XingQi is the big sister I told you about. I never imagined that the group we were in back then turned out to be the predecessor of 'Blizzard'… and even more shocking, she’s actually the leader of Blizzard.”

ntioning this, Kang Xin couldn’t help but think of HuMin.

If Bai XingQi had visited HuMin’s grave, she must have still been holding on to so feelings.

So now… what kind of person was Bai XingQi, really?

“HuMing, can you still find her? I… have sothing I want to say to her.”

“If I look, I can probably find her. But Kang Xin—today I ca because I have sothing very important to ask you.”

Hearing that, Kang Xin’s expression turned serious.

“…What kind of person was the HuMin you ntioned?”

Kang Xin was stunned for a mont. Then her brows softened, and she said:

“She was a good person. But she acted so mature… so mature that I sotis forgot she was still just a child.”

She rembered—of the three of them back then, it was HuMin who spoke the most.
