“Anna, your friend?” At that mont, a few lavishly dressed people walked over from not far away, sizing up Shu Wan from head to toe.
Ever since Shu Wan and Fu Yang had sat in the front row, everyone in the venue had been curious about who Shu Wan was.
Now seeing that Anna knew Shu Wan, everyone naturally crowded around.
“Yes, Shu Wan, a star. Back when I was acting, she played my maid,” Anna said with a mix of pandering and fear as she smiled at the newcors. “I didn’t expect her to show up here, and with a stepson too.”
“Snicker.”
Only a few people in this world could suppress their jealousy. Facing soone as beautiful as Shu Wan, many were already discontent.
Hearing Anna say that Shu Wan was just a minor star and that she had a stepson that old, they found consolation regarding her status, which they felt overshadowed in beauty.
“How dare she sit in the front row, though? I an, being inexperienced is one thing, but isn’t that just too arrogant?”
Before Shu Wan arrived, Anna had been the target of everyone’s mockery and ridicule. Now, with Shu Wan as the perfect target for their disdain, everyone focused all their attention on her.
Slinking silently back two steps, a spark flickered in Anna’s eyes, relieved that Shu Wan was taking the heat off her.
“What’s it to you?” Fu Yang, who had been resting his eyes, suddenly opened them and coldly regarded the won. “What, ugly and jealous of others looking pretty?”
Apparently inheriting a trait from Fu Siyu, Fu Yang had a knack for blunt speech.
Once he spoke up, the faces of the several won imdiately changed.
“Jealous of her? That seat wasn’t even reserved for her; what right does she have to sit there? Can she even afford it?”
“Was it reserved for you?” Fu Yang’s eyes narrowed slightly.
“No, it wasn’t.” They might be from wealthy families, but they still weren’t qualified to sit in that spot.
“Well, that settles it,” Fu Yang sneered. “A case of the pot calling the kettle black. Mind your own business, instead of acting so self-important.”
After Fu Yang’s tirade, he left the group speechless.
“This upbringing… born of a mother but raised without one, it’s fitting he only has so minor star as a stepmother. What trash,” one of the girls blurted out, unable to outwit Fu Yang and resorting to personal attacks.
Fu Yang was usually only subdued by Shu Wan. With others, he was a ticking bomb.
Hearing this insult, Fu Yang’s face turned cold instantly.
He stood up, unnoticed by all, and boldly slapped the woman.
The whole room fell silent.
Even the woman who was hit paused for a mont before reacting. Covering her face, she looked at Fu Yang in disbelief. “Did you just hit ?”
Then she turned to Shu Wan. “Your son dares to hit soone in public? Hasn’t he been taught any manners?”
“Wasn’t it you who cursed at him first?” Shu Wan’s eyes went cold. “You’re the one lacking manners.”
“Typical, just what I’d expect from a star who’s been with thousands; what good could co from you?” The woman, enraged at Shu Wan’s defense of Fu Yang, grew even more vulgar.
Even trying to pay back Shu Wan’s slap.
But Shu Wan reacted quickly and crisply delivered a slap in return that was even sharper than the one Fu Yang had given.
Even Fu Yang was surprised and couldn’t help but want to applaud her.
“Watch your mouth,” Shu Wan said coolly, staring at the woman.
“How dare you!” Though she was affluent, she had never been treated this way before. Angered, she grabbed a nearby glass and smashed it on the ground. “Tie them up!”
However, no one paid her any attention.
That’s because the staff outside had already rushed to the door to greet an important guest.
A staff mber ca in, cleaning up the ss swiftly. “Mr. Fu has arrived; please, everyone return to your seats.”
The crowd looked towards the entrance as a distant, handso man in a black suit approached.
With only a tall silhouette visible in the dim light of the courtyard – even without seeing his facial features – he emitted an overwhelming presence.
