Grabbing the piece of the person's black shirt that I had cut in half, I wrapped it around the lower half of my face, completely covering my nose, mouth, and chin.
Currently, the only skin visible on my body was the area around my blood-red eyes.
I hadn't noticed it until a couple of seconds after being transported here, but the scent around this town was...putrid.
Perhaps it was just , though, as I glanced around and saw no one else trying to cover their nose or complain.
Although this city was quite small, the number of people entering through its warp gates every few seconds was insane.
It quite literally looked like people were spawning out of nowhere like a bunch of bots.
Of course, these people would imdiately get in a carriage and leave the town or perhaps find a vendor stand and then leave, so the population of Ezria was still quite small.
Pinching my nose, I sighed and headed towards the building with the sign that read, "Adventurer's Guild."
I had figured out the source of the bad sll.
Back in the cathedral, I hadn't noticed it, as the hero and his army had never approached when I had possessed my body...but the humans around slled atrocious.
However...when I had been wandering through the hundreds of corpses in the cathedral, I hadn't slled anything bad.
In fact...it had slled quite pleasant.
Sighing, I shook my head and muttered.
"Is this what the book ant when they said demons have an inclination towards darker things?"
Opening the doors of the building, I bit my lip as the horrible scents covering the humans inside slowly wafted over to .
About a hundred people were inside the first floor of the building, and they were either sitting around the table with drinks or standing in front of the wooden bulletin board.
So of them were wearing full armor, like the soldiers in the cathedral, while others were wearing a plain T-shirt, a cloak, and pants.
Paying no attention to the loud talking and screaming, I walked straight towards the front desk, where a female receptionist stood.
Clearly bored out of her mind, the long black-haired receptionist stood still while looking to the right with a distant expression.
She seed to be around my age and wore a baggy T-shirt with navy blue jeans.
Upon seeing in front of her, she raised her eyebrows and slowly examined my appearance before eventually asking.
"Here to register?"
As I nodded my head, she raised her hand and grabbed a clipboard.
"Na and evidence of identification?"
"..."
At that mont, my head suddenly froze.
How the hell had I been in this world for over three hours...and not had a na!?
What was my na!?
Ignoring the receptionist, I hastily reached into my cloak pocket and took out the white envelope and the letter inside.
Then, I saw it.
Perhaps it was because I had been in such a rush to read the letter inside, but I had completely ignored the white envelope.
On big letters, the cursive words on the envelope read.
"To Jett Windsor"
Was the demon prince's real na or a simple fake identity?
I didn't know, but at least for right now, it was going to be my na.
Looking at the impatient receptionist in front of , I awkwardly reached out my hand with the letter before asking.
"Would this work?"
"..."
As she unfolded the letter in front of her, I watched as her expression transford from bored to...mortified... intrigued...and finally back to bored?
Within seconds, she had refolded the letter, handed it back to , and nodded her head.
Confused, I took the letter back and asked.
"Aren't you going to make sure it's real?"
Indifferent, the receptionist simply turned around, grabbed a drink, and replied.
"Trust , I know what a real Glaive acceptance letter looks like."
Not waiting for my response, she raised one finger, indicating for to wait, and walked to the staff area of the building, out of sight.
Turning around, I glanced to my right at the large wooden bulletin board, which had a slightly smaller crowd around it now.
Dozens of posters, with pictures of various monsters and the sa text format, could be seen.
For example, one of them was as follows.
"Help Required: Golbin Camp spotted just outside of town, on the northeastern side of the forest."
"Rank Required: D-rank or higher. Full Party of five people recomnded."
"Reward: 2 Silver Coins."
To claim a quest, it seed that one simply had to take down a poster from the board, walk to one of many receptionists within the building, and then leave.
Interrupting my observation, I heard the girl's voice sound from behind.
"One last question. I know it's stupid to ask, considering you're a student, but it's just a formality."
"Are you awakened?"
When one reaches the age of thirteen in this world, they have the chance to beco awakened, which ans they have received a system nu.
Of course, there are ways to guarantee one's awakening; however, currently, those thods are only known by the royal family.
And then, after awakening, one can reach enlightennt by eting the stat threshold and receiving a gift from the system.
In this world, I believe the awakened percentage was around 30%, if not a bit lower; however, I would assu that all adventurers were awakened.
After all, facing deadly magical beasts as a normal person didn't seem logical.
But...perhaps there was a character like that, who, despite not awakening, was strong enough to take down magical beasts.
Nodding my head, I watched as the receptionist wrote down one last thing on her clipboard before reaching out her hand and displaying her palm.
And, dazzling in the center of her outstretched palm was a holographic green card that didn't quite seem... real.
It appeared more like a hologram than a tangible item that I could hold.
[Jett Windsor / Rank: E]
As I grabbed the card and put it in my pocket, I noticed it was weightless, just like my cloak.
Unless I was looking down at my hand, I couldn't tell whether I was holding it or not.
Perhaps they were made of the sa material?
Mistaking my confused expression for an angry one, the receptionist sighed before saying.
"Everyone starts as E rank, no matter your status."
