Within a couple of monts, two more groups surrounded the portal, achieving the maximum of five.

Without a doubt, this was the portal with the strongest groups, with all five squads having an Imperial student.

Xero’s group

Liam’s group

My group

Charlotte’s group

Evangel’s group

The boss within this portal was essentially guaranteed to die first due to all the strong people entering, so every group here basically already received first in portal placents.

Thus, the group and individuals who did the most damage in the portal would undoubtedly win the practical exam and achieve the highest individual rankings.

It was an all-or-nothing situation.

If my group did well against the boss, we would be among the highest ranks, but if we did badly, even with our number one portal placent, we would receive relatively low ranks.

Just as the last few groups chose portals, a familiar voice echoed from behind, drawing the attention of everyone around Liam’s portal.

"WAIT! WAIT! IS THERE A SPOT?"

Panting and breathing heavily, Zeke arrived before our portal, his group trailing behind him, and hurriedly glanced around, counting the groups.

Upon his realization that the portal was full, Zeke exhaustedly looked down and, in a pleading tone, kindly asked.

" *ahem* Would anyone be willing to swap with ? You know...this is the strongest portal, so so of you won’t even get any individual contribution and will then receive low ranks."

At his words, so of the Worldly mbers in both my group and Evangel’s group awkwardly turned to us, but I simply continued looking forward while Evangel remained with her usual emotionless expression.

"*AHEM*"

At that point, a sudden dry cough erupted from my right side, where Xero’s group was standing, and when I looked up, he was clearly gazing at Evangel and I.

Shaking my head, I coldly responded, breaking the silent atmosphere."

"Lot to say for soone with no actual accomplishnts yet. Don’t think your daddy is going to help you here."

Suddenly, an ice-cold atmosphere rivaling that of Antarctica swept over the area, and Xero’s gaze grew sharper than a dagger.

Without skipping a beat, he imdiately responded.

"Oh wow, is soone angry? Complaining about my family won’t bring yours back."

More confused than angry, I silently stood there, trying to comprehend his words.

Family?

I was the demon king.

In this world, I had no "actual" family besides my half-mad demon king, and he couldn’t have known that.

So, what was he talking about?

Recalling the words that his group had probably scribbled on my door, my confusion grew even more.

Where did this notion even co from?

As I opened my mouth, ready to retort, a voice suddenly sounded from behind , where Zeke stood.

"Haha...guys, it’s alright. Let just find another portal! Best of luck to you all!"

Throughout the whole interaction, everyone besides Xero and I had remained silent, seemingly ignoring our conversation and acting as if we were so children fighting over a toy.

However, at Zeke’s words, they all snapped back to life and firmly nodded their heads.

Narrowing my eyes, I stared at Xero; however, he simply smugly nodded his head, acting as if he had won the conversation.

As Zeke filled up the last portal, the professor from earlier erged once again, prompting to turn around to face my group.

All of them imdiately avoided eye contact, even looking at the ground instead of , so I sighed and ordered.

"Withdraw your weapons and close your eyes."

Confusedly, Sage, first, heeded my words, covering her eyes with her arm, and the others slowly followed.

Thankfully, for this practical, you were allowed to bring your own gear, so I could rely on my pen.

"The Exam begins...now!"

With those words, the portal suddenly flashed a dark purple, blinding everyone in the vicinity like a flashbang.

Re-opening my eyes as everyone else was stumbling backward, I sprinted forward through the path that had ford due to the purple flashbang.

Everyone had been blinded, even Liam and Charlotte, except for...Evangel.

With the rest of her group desperately covering their eyes behind her, she stared on as I passed through the portal.

However, before I could make eye contact, my vision went dark.

Imdiately, my surroundings broke down and folded flat on the ground until there was nothing but a pitch-black void.

As structures began appearing, I was imdiately overco by a gust of wind, which carried a salty scent right into my nostrils.

The beach...

A couple of monts later, my four teammates appeared behind , staring at the vast sandy beach before the glistening, dark-blue ocean.

It looked like the perfect vacation spot...just as the book had described it.

Palm trees, umbrellas, a perfectly bright sun, no clouds, small waves, and a vast ocean.

Even I could get lucky sotis...

As the portal behind us shook, indicating more people were about to arrive, I imdiately yelled before sprinting to the side where a large set of rocks stood.

"et at the rocks!"

Yet, moving in the sand was close to impossible, as my shoes constantly weighed down, preventing from sprinting.

At that mont, though, a sudden voice echoed from behind .

"I can cast a spell of swiftness!"

Suddenly, a massive jade circle, containing my entire group, appeared above the sand, illuminating our figures a light green.

And, in the next mont, when the portal disappeared, the heaviness of the sand disappeared

Reaching the giant set of rocks, I finally glanced down at the blue system nu in front of , waiting for my teammates to catch up.

[Crabawler]

--> A sea beast, resembling a mix of an octopus and a massive whale-sized crab, that roams the shoreline, occasionally using its eight tiny legs to step onto land.

--> The beast’s main form of attack is through long-range cannon attacks that are shot simultaneously from its eight tentacles, which constantly move around with a mind of their own.

---> Mutated crabs can be shot from their tentacles and move around, attacking anyone in sight.

--> The beast’s main flaw is its eight tentacles. If they are cut off, the beast will imdiately die.
