Chapter 40: Going Ho!
The white dress Lin Ziyu was wearing … Lin Tai found it oddly familiar, like he had seen it sowhere before.
“Yo, what’s with the change of style? Going for the pure and innocent look now?” Lin Tai sized up Lin Ziyu. She had light makeup on, embracing a fresh and pure vibe.
But wasn’t Lin Ziyu always a strong, career-driven woman like Xia Shihan? When they were kids, Lin Ziyu liked all sorts of clothes, wearing whatever was trendy.
But after turning eighteen, she changed dramatically. Her style beca more conservative, and the smiles on her face grew rarer.
In front of Lin Tai, she usually put on a deliberately stern expression.
So, seeing her in a white dress today genuinely surprised Lin Tai.
“Don’t you recognize this dress?” Lin Ziyu’s brows furrowed slightly, showing a hint of displeasure.
“Heh, why would I care?” Lin Tai brushed it off. Their relationship was already at rock bottom, so he didn’t take it seriously.
“Hmph.” Lin Ziyu turned away, unable to hide the disappointnt on her face. This dress was a coming-of-age gift from Lin Tai when she turned eighteen.
It wasn’t so high-end designer brand, but it perfectly matched her temperant. The gift was thoughtful, and back then, Lin Ziyu had treasured it dearly.
Sadly, she had never worn it, always keeping it tucked away in the corner of her wardrobe. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to wear it—she couldn’t. She was afraid she wouldn’t be able to control her emotions.
But now, it didn’t matter anymore. She no longer cared. Because, as it turned out, she was never his real sister. Even so, Lin Tai’s care for her had never wavered. It touched her deeply, yet she had never had the chance to repay him.
“By the way, your bestie is here too. Want to go with her?” Lin Tai thought of Yao Anxuan.
Lin Ziyu returning to the country and Yao Anxuan appearing at the airport clearly wasn’t a coincidence.
If Lin Ziyu wanted to go with Yao Anxuan, it would make things easier for Lin Tai.
“No, she’ll co to the house later,” Lin Ziyu replied. She didn’t want an uninvited guest interrupting her alone ti with Lin Tai.
“Where’s the watch I gave you?” Lin Ziyu glanced at Lin Tai’s wrist, grabbing it to inspect the watch he was wearing.
“At ho. Flattering for no reason? You’re up to sothing,” Lin Tai said. The watch he was wearing was the one Xia Shihan had given him.
Since his persona was that of a devoted simp, he had to keep Xia Shihan’s gift close.
As for Lin Ziyu’s watch, he had casually left it on his watch stand.
“Who gave you this watch?” Lin Ziyu’s gaze lingered on it. She knew all of Lin Tai’s collection, but this one was unfamiliar.
Seeing the intricate blue diamond engraving of Lin Tai’s na, it was obvious it was a gift from soone else.
“You won’t believe it, but it’s from Shihan,” Lin Tai said with a smug eyebrow raise. A devoted simp had to maintain his image at all tis.
“You still like her?” Lin Ziyu suddenly asked.
“Not anymore. Who should I like? You?” Lin Tai rolled his eyes. He didn’t rember Lin Ziyu being this nosy. She used to completely ignore his business.
What was going on? Did a trip abroad change her personality?
“I’m your sister, you shaless jerk!” Lin Ziyu rolled her eyes too, knowing Lin Tai was just teasing her.
Oh, my silly brother, in this life, I’ll definitely repay you properly and never let you get hurt again.
“Shaless, my foot,” Lin Tai muttered, not quite understanding what was up with Lin Ziyu. They used to bicker like this all the ti—who took it seriously?
But from Lin Ziyu’s words, Lin Tai could indirectly sense her disdain for him as her brother.
Perfect. Lin Ziyu was indeed a normal female lead.
Lin Tai was delighted. He picked up Lin Ziyu’s suitcase and followed her.
Outside the airport, Lin Tai put the suitcase in the trunk and got into the driver’s seat.
“By the way, why are you in such a rush to co back?” Lin Tai was still a bit curious about why Lin Ziyu returned early.
“Dad said there’s so company business for to handle,” Lin Ziyu replied. Of course, this was a lie, but since Lin Tai never paid attention to company matters, he wouldn’t suspect anything even if she said this.
“Oh.” Lin Tai couldn’t find a reason to argue. As long as she wasn’t here to ss with his plot, he was perfectly fine with it.
He started the car and drove straight ho.
