Working can also be addictive, especially when you have a bountiful harvest.

A few days ago, it rained again; probably because of this rain, the spring bamboo shoots sprouted everywhere like little grasses.

The soil was still moist. Using a small hoe to gently dig and then breaking it with hands, the whole shoot could be harvested.

The two sisters went up the mountain for less than half an hour, and their baskets were already full.

Seeing this, Xiaomi thought that wouldn’t do.

"Second sister, you keep digging, and I’ll start peeling the shoots. We’ll bring only the bamboo shoots back; otherwise, the basket can’t hold much."

Jiang Xiaoxue’s basket was full too. Hearing Xiaomi, she dragged her basket over and dumped the bamboo shoots in front of Xiaomi.

"You peel them first; I’ll look around. However, peeled shoots tend to change color, so we’ll soak them in water at ho first, then dig wild onions."

Xiaomi was already sitting on the ground, "Okay."

Having finished this area, Jiang Xiaoxue went a bit further away.

Once Jiang Xiaoxue had gone off, Xiaomi thought for a mont, moved her seat, and started digging with her small hoe.

In her space, there were giant bamboos, but none of these small mottled bamboos.

When she sat down, she had felt a newly sprouted little tip beside her. After a couple of digs, sure enough, it was a bamboo shoot.

This ti, instead of snapping it, she kept digging deeper until she unearthed the roots, which she placed into her space with the roots intact.

With just one of these, it could freely develop in her space, and she wouldn’t need to worry about it.

There were already many of those giant bamboo’s shoots piled up in the space, both fresh and dried, and she often took them out to eat.

Whatever was at ho, she would frequently exchange it with the space items, allowing everyone to enjoy the taste from the space.

It must be said, things from the space, whether in flavor or texture, were indeed tastier and easily distinguishable.

Ever since Xiaomi could walk, at ho, there would often suddenly be a tastier al.

Yet, after all these years, no one had ever suspected anything.

Perhaps that’s just how habits beco second nature.

After putting the small bamboo shoot into her space, Xiaomi filled the pit again and began peeling the bamboo shoots.

Having gotten so practice in the morning, she beca more skillful at peeling.

The bamboo shoots were dumped on the ground, and the peeled bamboo flesh placed in the basket, with a pile of husks accumulating beside her but not much flesh.

To prevent the bamboo flesh from blackening, Xiaomi sprinkled a little Spiritual Spring water on it, but soon found ants and beetles approaching.

Frightened, she quickly lifted the basket, piled the husks together, and placed the basket on top to keep it off the ground.

A short distance away, she put so more Spiritual Spring water to attract the bugs’ attention specifically.

Not long after, Jiang Xiaoxue returned with another basketful of bamboo shoots; there were so many that finishing them was impossible!

Digging bamboo was indeed faster than peeling the husks!

After a short while, Xiaomi grew impatient with peeling, decisively standing up and brushing off her pants.

"Second sister, let’s just dig more and have dad co to carry them back tonight. He and Uncle Qixi can take a trip each and bring them all back."

Their little baskets were too small, and the bamboo shoots stuck out. Saying two or three baskets doesn’t amount to much; one basket is only enough for two or three als!

If they brought more back, everyone could sort them out while resting after als, much easier than the two of them peeling slowly on the mountain!

Jiang Xiaoxue hesitated for a mont, "Alright, then I’ll — no, we’ll first take back what has been peeled, then co back with a larger basket."

She initially intended to go back alone but rembered the last ti Xiaomi fainted on the mountain, quickly correcting herself.

"No problem."

She preferred doing active work, and sitting around wasn’t her strong suit.

The two carried their baskets back ho. Xiaomi’s basket was filled with peeled shoots, and Jiang Xiaoxue carried a basketful of bamboo shoots, leaving a pile on the mountain.

When they reached ho, only Uncle Liu was there. Learning that they were digging bamboo shoots, he picked up a hoe and went up the mountain with them.

However, halfway up, they saw children from the village heading towards the mountain too, likely also for bamboo shoots given their gear.
