1130 Chapter 1130

The man that had suddenly stopped and called out to Lyra stood their stock still and with an astonished look on his face.

Naturally, Marcus and Lyra were wearing similar expressions.

Neither of them had been expecting to co across soone down here that would recognize them. They were several kiloters beneath Mirrion's surface and practically in a different world.

With her illusion magic Lyra easily could have conjured a disguise, but doing so had seed unnecessary. The chances that anyone that knew her would be in the Darklands was slim to none.

However, perhaps after hearing about the Lamia's society, she and Marcus should have considered the possibility.

Any humans down here were likely to be from either Tralenstein or Borealia, as they were the two nations on the surface closest to this town.

Of course, as a man, the individual that had recognized Lyra was undoubtedly a slave. He appeared to be in good condition and his clothes were actually a bit higher quality than most of the other n that had co into the hotel with him. Denoting so level of higher status. Still, there was no denying the fact that he was considered soone's property down here.

When Marcus glanced over at Lyra, he saw that she had a multitude of emotions showing on her face.

"Petros, your really alive!" Lyra said after appraising the man and fully confirming his identity.

Her outburst caused a bit of a commotion, and before Petros could respond, Yisia slithered over hurriedly.

"Is sothing the matter? Did this man upset either of you?"

Yisia's eyes were filled with worry as she addressed Marcus and Lyra.

Both of them had so far shown no signs of hostility and seed to be amiable, but at any mont they possessed the power to town the Lamia's Town into a ruin. She had already resolved herself to do whatever she could to keep them from becoming agitated.

"No. It's not that. It's just…"

Lyra was at a loss for words for a mont. She was not sure what to do. If she tried to extend a helping hand to Petros, it could cause a major incident. Just admitting she knew him could cause problems.

Had she been here on her own, she might have done everything she could, the consequences be damned. Yet right now she was beholden to Relia. The Vampiress had saved her and the entire rebellion in Tralenstein during a great ti of need.

She and Marcus had already been warned not to cause trouble, so she was holding herself back.

"Mada Yisia, I happened to be acquainted with her when I still lived on the surface. In my shock at seeing her again, I let out an unbecoming outburst. Please forgive ." Petros said, bowing his head and speaking as politely as he could.

This helped to clear up the situation for Yisia, but it did nothing to diminish her distress.

There had been tis in the past where people from the surface had ventured to their town to take back people that they knew that had ended up down here as slaves for one reason or another.

Nearly all of these attempts ended in failure. The Lamias were not weak by any ans and had a fair number of high-level fighters for how small their population was.

Unfortunately, resorting to force if Lyra wanted to take back Petros was unlikely to work. By herself she was already strong enough to take on all of their elite warriors. Factoring in Marcus and Quillon, there would be almost nothing that the Lamias could do if things ca down to violence.

Yisia knew all of this so her only option was to acquiesce to whatever demands that they had.

Fortunately for her and all the other Lamias, Petros spoke up before Lyra's conflicting thoughts leaned towards rescuing him.

"Da Jadzia, I can understand your surprise, and while there is much, I wish to discuss with you as well, now is not the ti or place. If you give a little bit, I promise to co by and see you when I'm able."

"Very well. I hold you to that. If you don't co back soon enough, though, I'll co looking for you." Lyra said, her words more ant for Yisia than Petros.

She was letting the high-ranking Lamia know that she was not going to just forget about this. Nothing was going to stop her from eting with Petros again.

After that, things cooled down, though there was a tension that lingered in the air.

When Marcus and Lyra returned to their suite, Marcus wasted no ti in asking his longti friend that he had a deep bond with that spanned two lifetis about what had just happened.

"Do you mind telling who that was and what your connection to him is?"

Lyra sighed but nodded her head.

Quillon pooped in just as she was about to explain things to Marcus and ended up having to catch him up on what was going on first.

"Petros used to be a subordinate of mine. He was part of the company of knights under my command when I beca the twentieth seat of Tralenstein's Great Knights. It feels like that was an eternity ago, even if its only really be a few years." Lyra said, a nostalgic look on her face.

She went on to explain their relationship and why she thought that Petros had died long ago.

"It was during the very beginning of the rebellion, before you showed up Marcus. He was one of my subordinates that decided to follow . Unfortunately, he got heavily injured during one of our early battles and went missing. Frankly, he and many others were presud to be dead. I'm honestly not sure how he survived and ended up down here. I watched him get hit by a barrage of magic cannon fire. He went flying along with dozens of others and must have been launched several kiloters away from the battlefield."

There was a deep pain in lyra's eyes as she recounted one of the many losing battles that the rebellion had suffered during the early stages of the civil war. They had not been quite as organized at this point, and many powerful supporters that joined them later were still neutral.

"I think that I get the gist of it." Marcus said, placing his hand on Lyra's shoulder to comfort her. "So, what do you want to do? I've got your back no matter what."
