The little disturbance at the Tian Family cald down as soon as Tian Manjin saw that his daughter showed no strange reaction after learning about her origin. He felt relieved, thinking it might be due to her young age. Little did he know that Tian Sisi had known the truth for quite so ti. It was only now that he rembered he needed to teach Gao Yuzhu a lesson, so he told the Old Man and angrily headed towards the Gao Family.
Zhu Aiqing called out behind him, "Talk things out with Gao Yuzhu, don’t resort to violence."
Tian Manjin casually responded without turning back, "It’s fine, Man Yin knows restraint." The Old Man knew his son; he wasn’t the kind to act recklessly.
Tian Xinhua pondered for a mont and followed behind. Tian Sisi also wanted to follow and watch the excitent, but Granny Zhao was standing guard with a large bowl of ginger and brown sugar water, eyeing her intensely. Left with no choice, Sisi stuck out her tongue and began reluctantly sipping the ginger water. It had just boiled and was so hot that Sisi cried out, wanting to set the bowl aside and wait to drink it later.
"Drink it while it’s hot. Ginger water has to be consud super hot to be effective," Granny Zhao said sternly as she watched.
Tian Sisi grumbled internally, thinking that the temperature could blister her tongue, but she dared not talk back to the old lady. Grimacing, she sipped the ginger water, steamy enough to make tears brim in her eyes and a thin layer of sweat form on her body.
Speaking of Gao Hongi, who had been beaten half to death by Tian Sisi, she was helped ho by a few other girls. When Tian Chunfang saw her daughter in such a state, her heart ached terribly. Tian Chunfang had four children in total, two sons and two daughters.
The other three all looked like Gao Yuzhu, pretty and presentable, only this daughter resembled her exactly, and in Tian Chunfang’s heart, Gao Hongi was her darling.
"Hongi, what happened to you? Who bullied you?"
Seeing Gao Hongi’s bruised face, Tian Chunfang knew her daughter had been bullied and flared up with rage. How dare soone bully her family in Yuequan Village? To think soone had the gall! Seeing Tian Chunfang’s reaction, it was not hard to imagine where Gao Hongi’s strong sense of self ca from.
Gao Hongi was still in pain and couldn’t say a word. The girls who were with her told the story in turns. Of course, they didn’t dare to repeat the part about Gao Hongi calling Tian Sisi a bastard. The girls were quite clever; they knew that this incident with the Tian Family wouldn’t end well, so after narrating the incident, they quickly excused themselves and left the Gao Family ho, not wanting to get caught up in any trouble.
Gao Yuzhu ca out of the inner room. He had just woken up from his nap, still groggy, but seeing his daughter’s disheveled appearance snapped him into alertness. Although he wasn’t as affectionate towards Gao Hongi, who looked like his wife, as he was towards the elder three siblings, she was still his flesh and blood. Seeing the sorry state of Gao Hongi, his heart still ached.
"What happened?" Gao Yuzhu asked sternly.
"Yuzhu, you must seek justice for Hongi! The Tian Family has gone too far, just look at what they did to our Hongi," Tian Chunfang said.
Upon seeing her husband, Tian Chunfang imdiately walked over to him, looking aggrieved as she complained, but her imposing figure made her supposedly pitiable expression appear comical no matter how one looked at it.
Gao Yuzhu imperceptibly furrowed his brows, swiftly sidestepped her, and moved to stand in front of Gao Hongi. He did all this so naturally and smoothly that Tian Chunfang didn’t realize her husband was intentionally avoiding her.
"What exactly happened? Hongi, tell the sequence of events."
Gao Hongi was always terribly afraid of Gao Yuzhu. She didn’t dare to repeat her slanderous words about Tian Sisi and instead chose to ntion so less important things. However, Gao Yuzhu, with his cunning mind, wasn’t easily deceived by his daughter’s words. As he was about to probe further, he heard a loud shout from outside.
"Gao Yuzhu, you son of a bitch, get the hell out here." Tian Manjin cursed loudly from outside the Gao Family’s gate, drawing the attention of a group of villagers ready to go to work. There had been a lot happening with the Tian Family these past few days; Zhong Liangcai’s family’s issue had just been settled, and now what’s going on with the Gao Family?
Gao Yuzhu’s face changed at once; no one could tolerate being blockaded at their door and cursed like that, let alone the proud and arrogant Gao Yuzhu. He quickly put on his jacket and went out with a smile plastered on his face, offering a cigarette, "Man Yin, what’s the matter? What did I do wrong?"
Tian Manjin knocked the cigarette out of Gao Yuzhu’s hand, but Gao Yuzhu wasn’t angered. He bent down to pick up the cigarette from the ground, didn’t offer it again, and tucked it behind his ear. Tian Xinhua watched this from the side, his heart alert to Gao Yuzhu—a man with a sweet tongue but a malicious heart. In the future, he’d have to remind his fourth uncle to be wary.
"Hmph, Gao Yuzhu, don’t play dumb with . Ask your darling daughter what nonsense she’s said today. Has my Ah Nan wronged your Gao Family? Whether she’s my Tian Manjin’s child or not, what’s it to your Gao Family? Did it warrant your lecture on what constitutes Impropriety, and the insolence to call my Ah Nan a bastard? Hmph, Gao Yuzhu, it seems like you’re intent on picking a fight with our Tian Family."
Tian Manjin indeed wanted to punch him, but he was aware that he couldn’t do it in front of so many people. After all, it was just children quarreling. Coming here to curse and vent was one thing, but resorting to violence would put him at a disadvantage.
Gao Yuzhu was genuinely furious and wanted to go back inside imdiately and beat Gao Hongi for causing trouble. He promptly apologized with a smile, "Brother Man Yin, please don’t be mad. It’s my fault for not disciplining my daughter strictly. I don’t know where Hongi heard these nasty words. I’ll go punish her and teach her what should and should not be said."
The surrounding villagers were taken aback by the revelation. Everyone knew about Tian Sisi’s upbringing, but because the Old Man and Granny Zhao had asked the villagers years ago not to ntion this matter in front of their children, to prevent them from saying sothing that Tian Sisi might hear, everyone had kept this secret. In their opinion, the request of the Old Man and Granny Zhao was entirely reasonable; no one wanted their own children, whom they had raised with difficulty, to beco estranged after learning about their origins.
To think this little girl from the Gao Family had the audacity to call soone a bastard? That’s truly uneducated. The villagers silently criticized the Gao Family’s parenting and collectively blad Gao Yuzhu for his wrongdoing. The humiliated Gao Yuzhu’s face alternated between red and pale, having never been so mortified before.
"Gao Yuzhu, how you punish your own daughter is none of my business. I’m here to tell you to keep your daughter’s mouth shut, as she only knows how to spout nonsense. If I hear of anyone from your family making such remarks again, don’t bla , Tian Manjin, for being impolite. Hmph, the Tian Family are no pushovers!"
Tian Manjin, with a stern face, dropped these words and then turned to leave, calling Tian Xinhua to follow him. Today, all he could do was show a display of force. Surely, Gao Yuzhu would take care of his own family affairs, and there would be ti to settle this score later. (To be continued.
