He Chengsi brought six subordinates, two in plain sight and the other four hidden in the dark, Sisi had not t them.

The three of them stayed at Sisi’s house, He Chengsi and Tian Qinghua shared one Kang (traditional Chinese bed-stove), while the other two stayed in the guest room.

Their public identity was employees of a trade company from the Capital City, coming to Huang Yuan to scout the market.

Every day, the three of them would either go out for fun or dine out, perfectly portraying the image of governnt employees traveling for free on public funds.

Shen Mingzhu and Zuo Ming still dated frequently; it seed the few wine dicines from last ti allowed Zuo Ming to earn quite a fortune. Being generous to won, he naturally gave Shen Mingzhu quite a bit, evident from her new clothes every day.

With her lover’s nourishnt, Shen Mingzhu was radiant every day, even her walk resembled a dance. Sisi could only sigh for Zheng Guofeng. Such a good scientist ended up with such a frivolous wife, how sad!

Later, Shen Mingzhu also bought many gifts for Zhong Juying. Zhong Juying dared not accept them, fearing it might be illegal, but Sisi reassured her to accept them without worry, for Shen Mingzhu’s wrongful money might as well be taken.

That big fish would not appear so soon, and concerning work matters, He Chengsi would not share much with Sisi, so she stopped worrying about it.

However, she instructed Yuan Jin to enhance the security asures at the distillery, especially around Zhong Juying’s office, assigning soone to patrol every evening.

Actually, even if those wine dicines were taken, it wouldn’t matter as no one could analyze their contents. But Sisi wanted to create the illusion that the distillery highly valued the wine dicine, to lure the other party into action soon.

April soon arrived and the entire county was lush with greenery, with the tender wild vegetables sprouting in the wild. Sisi often took advantage of taking students out for sketching to pick Shepherd’s-purse or malan heads, letting Granny Zhao make dumplings or stir-fry with dry tofu.

Unfortunately, there were no bamboo shoots in Huang Yuan. It was the perfect ti to enjoy ivory bamboo shoots. Stead with salted at, braised in oil, or stir-fried with pickled vegetables - all delicious!

Living in Huang Yuan, not being able to eat fresh shoots was a big disappointnt for Sisi. Sotis, when craving, she could only ask Granny Zhao to cook with dried shoots. Although tasty, it wasn’t the sa as fresh shoots, making Sisi crave them terribly.

Though there were bamboo shoots in Space, she couldn’t take them out. Ashad to eat alone, she could only foolishly drool at the shoots inside Space.

Perhaps Sisi’s frustration was too deep. Coming back from work one day, Sisi actually slled the sweet scent of fresh bamboo shoots.

She took a deep breath. Yes, it was the scent of ivory bamboo shoots stead with salted at, so fragrant!

"Granny, where did these fresh shoots co from?"

Sisi rushed into the kitchen, where the iron pot on the stove was bubbling with steam. The fragrance indeed ca from the pot. Sisi lifted the lid; the tender shoots and savory salted at were exactly the dish she loved!

Sisi was so moved she wanted to cry!

God, You are really too good!

"Tian Qinghua went ho and brought nothing but two sacks of ivory bamboo shoots, your father said you must be craving them," Granny Zhao said cheerfully.

Sisi felt extrely touched; dad was the best, even having a grandson hadn’t made him forget his daughter.

She grabbed a piece of shoot from the pot and stuffed it in her mouth, and amid Granny Zhao’s scolding laughter, she happily ran into her room, imdiately calling Tian Manjin.

Luckily, Tian Manjin was actually at ho. As soon as he received Sisi’s call, he cheerfully asked, "Ah Nan, are the shoots tasty? I specially picked the tenderest and fattiest shoots. Ah Nan, eat more."

After being playfully affectionate with Tian Manjin on the phone, Sisi, returning to her ten-year-old self, finally hung up satisfied.

Granny Zhao chuckled as she scolded, "Are you done tattling to your dad? The older you get, the more childish you beco, even having the nerve to tell your dad that I don’t love you and only love Du Du. You really are a little ingrate!"

Sisi, hugging Granny Zhao’s arm, cooed, "Granny!"

She dragged out the last syllable, amusing and annoying Granny Zhao at the sa ti, who then firmly poked Sisi on the forehead. Just then, Du Du woke up, opening his eyes and his mouth.

"Aw, the baby’s awake, does Grandma need to check if he needs to pee?"

Granny Zhao imdiately pushed Sisi aside without any rcy, beaming like a blooming chrysanthemum as she rushed to the bed, adeptly lifted Du Du’s diaper to check.

"Du Du needs to pee, Grandma will take you to do it," Granny Zhao said cheerily, carrying the little one to the yard’s flowerbed to pee.

Sisi sulked and followed to play with her son too, who was especially adorable having just woken up, behaving like a little puppy, very fun to tease.

Tian Qinghua brought a lot of bamboo shoots, and Sisi gave so to Hu Dingkun, Du Changlin, and a few other families, letting everyone enjoy sothing fresh.

These past few days, nothing had happened, but sothing new did occur at school. Just as Sisi arrived at school, Liu Tielan eagerly pulled her aside to whisper.

"Shen Baozhu and Wang Shimin have fallen out!"

Liu Tielan wore a look of thrilled anticipation, making Sisi laugh as she asked, "Weren’t they about to get married?"

"Marry, my foot! That’s just what Wang Shimin wishes for himself. Shen Baozhu said she only sees him as a brother," Liu Tielan said, barely holding back her laughter.

Sisi rolled her eyes. Why was it always this cliché with the white lotus types?

Being intimate with a man like lovers, yet innocently claiming she only sees him as a brother—And there are always fools who believe this nonsense!

"Do you believe it?" Sisi shot Liu Tielan a glance.

Liu Tielan snorted dismissively, a look of disdain on her face.

"Brother in love, right?"

Sisi nodded in approval, glad to see so sense.

"So what about Wang Shimin? Is he giving up?" Sisi asked curiously.

While munching on the snacks Sisi brought, Liu Tielan replied, "What else can he do? When the bride-to-be doesn’t want a wedding, what, could he possibly force it? In my opinion, he ought to!"

Liu Tielan took a big bite of the date cake, extrely pleased, and was about to say more when Sisi pulled her sleeve and gave a cough. Liu Tielan, quick-witted, imdiately shut her mouth and focused on devouring the date cake.

Wang Shimin walked in from outside, holding teaching materials, his appearance unkempt, with acne covering his chin and forehead, looking utterly dejected—a far cry from his previously buoyant deanor.

Liu Tielan couldn’t help but gloat. Her sister had started dating a new guy, a criminal investigator from the Police Station. Although he was less educated than Wang Shimin, he was certainly more handso and lively.

Most importantly, he was sincere and treated her family well; in her opinion, he was much better than Wang Shimin.

"Mr. Wang, when can we expect wedding candies from you and Teacher Shen? Just don’t get married after my sister does!"

Liu Tielan deliberately asked Wang Shimin, who’s expression changed, muttered sothing unclearly, and without even sitting down, left again.
