"Ah, it’s my fault, your Daddy isn’t a liar, I misspoke, I’m sorry."
Fat Guiyuan was actually very straightforward, and she imdiately admitted her mistake, but why did her heart feel so sore!
"It’s alright, my Daddy won’t bla you."
Tian Sisi still had a good impression of this plump girl. She liked her personality and temper, and upon seeing the girl’s sad face, she asked, "Sister, what’s wrong? Do you feel unwell?"
"It’s nothing. Sisi, please go and take a seat. The chef today is my elder brother and the food tastes pretty good."
Fat Guiyuan wiped her face and smiled as she ushered Tian Sisi to the table. Today was Grandpa’s big birthday celebration, and if she looked gloomy, it would spoil Grandpa’s luck.
Tian Sisi didn’t pry further. She and this plump girl were rely new acquaintances; surely, she wouldn’t confide her troubles to a young girl like her. She’d inquire about it after they beca more familiar. Judging by the plump girl’s deanor, she was definitely troubled by romantic issues, but who could that man be?
Tian Sisi hadn’t at all thought that the man would be her own Daddy. In her heart, He Xuewen and Fat Guiyuan were simply not of the sa style, and besides, there was a significant age gap between them.
Fat Guiyuan’s elder brother’s culinary skills were indeed impressive – authentic Hangzhou cuisine, which tasted much better than what Tian Sisi had eaten in Hangzhou restaurants in the future. Tian Sisi’s favorites were the braised lion’s head atballs and Mrs. Song’s fish soup. With the soup being delicious and the atballs smooth and tender, Tian Sisi finished a bowl of fish soup and two atballs and four spring rolls in one go.
"Ugh, so delicious, and there are so many tasty dishes. It’s a sha my stomach can’t fit more!"
Tian Sisi burped contentedly, eyeing the lavish spread on the table with regret. Alas, it was rare to eat such delicious food, yet she couldn’t pack any to go.
Seeing his daughter eyeing the dishes on the table eagerly like a little dog, He Xuewen’s heart softened imnsely, "Ah Nan, if you like the food, we can co to visit Uncle Niu’s ho more often."
He Xuewen was determined. It was rare for Ah Nan to show interest in food, and as her Daddy, he of course wanted to indulge her. If anything, he could bring a few more jars of wine as gifts.
"Daddy, you’re the best!"
Tian Sisi looked up with a beaming smile. Seeing his beloved daughter happy, He Xuewen also felt joyful, his face brimming with a smile. Unintentionally, Tian Xinhua, who was eating at the side, looked up and caught this scene, and his heart suddenly clenched.
Ah Nan and Uncle He’s eyes resembled each other, curving when they smiled, and upon closer inspection, Ah Nan and Uncle He did share so similarities in appearance. Thinking of this, Tian Xinhua started to recall many doubts and couldn’t help but regret his own negligence.
Why would Uncle He, a stranger, recognize Ah Nan as his goddaughter for no reason? And treat her as well as if she were his own flesh and blood? And then there’s He Chengsi, that silly boy, who kept insisting Ah Nan was his sister. Tian Xinhua hadn’t taken it seriously before, but now, he thought there was a significant problem.
Uncle He had said before that his own daughter went missing, and his affection for Ah Nan was a transfer of feelings. But what kind of magic could make two strangers who had only known each other for over two months beco so close?
Ah Nan – he knew her all too well. Even though she seed obedient, she was never one to get close to people. Initially, when Uncle He had just arrived, Ah Nan was already very close to him, without any barriers, just like a real father and daughter!
Real father and daughter? Tian Xinhua’s pupils shrank suddenly and he scrutinized He Xuewen and Tian Sisi several more tis with care. The more he looked, the more they seed alike, especially those eyes – they were clearly two versions of the sa.
Tian Xinhua thought for a mont and then asked He Chengsi in a low voice as he was gobbling down his food, "Chengsi, has Uncle He found his daughter?"
"Yeah!"
The silly boy He Chengsi subconsciously replied, but when he realized sothing was off and looked up with a spring roll in his mouth, Tian Xinhua was glaring at him ominously.
"No, I heard wrong just now. I thought you were asking if the food was delicious. My Daddy’s daughter has been missing for so many years, how could she be found so easily?"
He Chengsi tried to backtrack what he just said, but his explanation only made things worse. Tian Xinhua was now absolutely certain that Mr. He’s biological daughter was Ah Nan, but he didn’t know whether Ah Nan was aware of this or not.
"Is that so? I guess you’re right, it’s indeed very difficult to find her. But I think Ah Nan being acknowledged as Uncle He’s goddaughter must bring him a lot of comfort."
Tian Xinhua also pretended to be unaware as he backed up He Chengsi’s statent. He Chengsi breathed a sigh of relief, glad that his slip-up remained unnoticed. But why did Tian Xinhua suddenly bring up this question with his pretty-boy looks?
"Better dig into the food. The dishes today are really tasty, you should eat more."
Tian Xinhua heaped He Chengsi’s bowl with food. The silly boy, once again enraptured by the delicious fare in front of him, bowed his head and resud his frenzied eating.
The banquet dishes were completely devoured by the guests, leaving not even the soup remaining, unlike modern banquets where two-thirds of the table’s dishes end up being wasted, much to one’s dismay.
As the feast concluded, the guests bid their farewells and left. He Xuewen also said goodbye to the Niu Sanxian family, who were extrely hospitable and insisted that He Xuewen and his group stay for dinner before leaving.
"Mr. He, really sorry about that. I was so busy this afternoon that I didn’t co over to have a drink with you. Tonight, I’ll definitely salute you with a few glasses. Don’t worry, later on I’ll have my son drive you back on the tractor, so it won’t delay your business."
Niu Sanxian was earnest with his words, holding onto He Xuewen and not letting go. Mr. Niu also kept urging him to stay. He Xuewen laughed and said, "Then I’ll have to brazenly impose and stay."
The main reason He Xuewen stayed was due to Tian Sisi. He always thought his daughter was too thin, but no matter what nutritional supplents he brought ho, Ah Nan refused to eat more. Now that she was finally showing interest in food, he hoped she would eat as much as she could.
Tian Sisi and He Chengsi were the happiest about staying for dinner, but Tian Xinhua, preoccupied in his own thoughts, found the food tasteless.
"Uncle Niu, your family’s dishes are really delicious. I overstuffed myself just now, uh!"
Tian Sisi quickly covered her mouth, her cheeks turning red with embarrassnt in an instant. How shaful! She was supposed to be a young lady; how could she burp in front of the host?
The Niu family mbers all smiled kindly. Deng Yuxiu, hugging Tian Sisi, said with a smile, "If it’s delicious, eat more tonight. Mumu will make you a digestive soup later, guarantee you won’t be feeling too full."
"Thank you, Niu Mumu!"
Tian Sisi thanked her softly, her face flushed and wishing she could crawl into a hole. At that mont, the young girl’s appearance was especially adorable; one could hardly resist the urge to hug her tightly and cherish her fondly.
Deng Yuxiu looked at her three grandsons with regret, what a pity that her oldest grandson was only five years old. If only he was two years older, then she could have arranged a marriage with the Mr. He’s family. How wonderful it would be if Sisi were her granddaughter-in-law!
