Ye Haohuan rose to greet the Old General when he looked over; after all, he was an elder!

During his salute, the Old General neither looked at him nor paid him any heed. Ye Haohuan didn’t mind; instead, he took his seat with great interest, watching the Old General looking at his granddaughter with a kindly and happy expression, much like any ordinary grandparent.

The General’s family had few descendants, and his only daughter had married out. Although there were grandchildren, they did not bear the Ye surna. Now they understood; his daughter was not his biological child.

Upon suddenly learning he had a son, the Old General was overjoyed!

For the first ti, Ye Shiqi felt her grandfather’s affection from the expression of the Old General.

Throughout her childhood, her grandfather had been distant with her and her sisters. Her brother, being a boy, fared a little better, but she had never felt her grandfather’s affection for her.

So this was what her grandfather was like!

At this mont, Ye Shiqi had no doubt that the Old General before her was her grandfather, feeling the continuation of familial blood and affection within her.

"Grandfather, how are you?"

Ye Shiqi stood up, bowed to the Old General, and greeted him.

"Good, good, good, my dear granddaughter!" The Old General laughed with tears in his eyes. Decades of frustration seed to vanish at that mont, making him feel that his life was fulfilled.

The bitterness and resentnts of many years evaporated upon seeing his granddaughter, learning he had a son, and a grandson, and especially such a sweet and adorable granddaughter. No matter how arduous and bitter life had been, at this mont, it all seed worthwhile!

Second Lady... what was going on?

Madam... this old fool wasn’t giving her any face, and it infuriated her! Humph, you won’t have it easy either!

"Roar, Second Lady, how did your relatives co to call him ’grandfather?’ Old Master, you agree, don’t you?"

The General gave not so much as a glance to this annoying woman upon hearing Madam’s words. At such a joyous mont, he least wanted to hear her voice. This old woman had brought no small amount of harm to the Ye family!

"Housekeeper, go arrange the luncheon. This is our dear granddaughter; we will hold a banquet. Also, send out invitations to inform all the influential and wealthy people of Oasis that our family will host a banquet tomorrow!"

The old housekeeper nodded at the General’s command and began the preparations with his staff.

"Old Master, what’s going on?"

Second Lady had been quiet until now, but the more she listened, the more confused she beca. Relatives from her side of the family had co to their house and, with other distinguished guests around, the General Mansion was giving face by hosting a banquet. This was already a mark of respect, especially since there was also a Madam present!

She was Second Lady in na, an equal wife, but that was euphemistic; in truth, her status was barely above that of a concubine. Without powerful support behind her, she had always lived low-key for the sake of a peaceful life for her and her daughter!

"Second Lady, this is indeed our own flesh and blood granddaughter. The old housekeeper checked; when you were giving birth, your cousin’s wife was also in labor. Your cousin and his wife took our child ho to raise, our daughter is not our biological child!"

As the General spoke, his face had shifted from smiles to tears, followed by, "But our child must have suffered, maybe not eating or living well in the countryside. What hardships our grandchildren must have faced!"

Upon hearing the General’s words, Second Lady’s mouth hung agape in disbelief. She looked at the General, wondering if he was joking?

Carefully guarding her daughter all this ti, to find out she wasn’t her own flesh and blood, it was unimaginable for a mother!

Then ca a surge of joy. If what the General said was true, they had a son, and the hopes of the General’s house could rest upon him. No wonder he felt such a deep connection with the little girl; it wasn’t just family ties that brought such affection!

"General, are you telling the truth?"

The General walked over to the Second Lady’s side, "It’s true, our family has a descendant!"

Then the two of them looked at Ye Shiqi together, smiles on their faces!

Facing the two elders, who were both crying and laughing, Ye Shiqi encountered such a grand scene for the first ti. Who could have foreseen that such an imposing General would be a kind and ordinary grandfather?

"Hmph, the old housekeeper is harming the Old Master by letting just any stray cat or dog enter our General Mansion. Old Master, succession is a serious matter. You must think it over carefully!"

Madam saw the two of them cozy and intimate, an image every woman would be jealous of, smashing the jealousy jar when their husband dotes on soone else!

Madam’s words carried a threat, hinting that the Old General was willing to casually pick soone to be his son and aspire to inherit the army—had the court agreed? Had the people of her natal family agreed?

The Old General waved her off, "You’ve always been fond of worshipping Buddha and chanting scriptures. You shouldn’t concern yourself with these worldly matters. Go back to the Buddhist Hall."

Madam’s face turned livid with distortion, her eyes filled with hatred. The Old General, at that mont, disregarded everything for that vile woman, for that newcor!

"Old Master, you must take responsibility for your words now. You may be happy with what you are doing now, but you should think about the future, think about the whole army!"

The Old General, listening to Madam’s threatening words, grew impatient. Who would want to hear such disheartening talk at such a joyous mont?

And who enjoys being threatened? He, a towering General, feared no woman and had tolerated her natal family for decades—how much benefit had they actually received?

He himself had lived in trepidation for ten years; for the sake of future generations, he was ready to take the plunge!

"Soone, co and help Madam back to the Buddhist Hall!"

When the Old General gave the command, both Madam’s attendants and the guards of the mansion had no choice but to obey!

"Hmph, you harlot, don’t be too pleased with yourself too soon!" Madam, her face twisted with rage, almost fainted with anger. She struggled to control her temper, refusing to let anyone escort her as she stood up and walked past the Second Lady, glaring at her fiercely to express her discontent.

The Second Lady, having been insulted, kept her head down, not daring to retort, silently listening to Madam’s footsteps as she left the room.

Everyone saw Madam exit, heading outside.

The General resud his smiling face, "Granddaughter, the old housekeeper told you’re the fifth youngest granddaughter and that you’re clever and smart, capable of doing business and literate!"

Ye Shiqi smiled modestly and said, "How can I be called smart? It’s all because of my parents’ good guidance! Isn’t that right, Grandfather?"

The Old General, chuckling, found a seat to sit down. He wished to remain standing and shout out loud for others to join in the celebration but feared it would be too disrespectful and make his granddaughter laugh.

"Exactly, exactly, it’s because of good teaching by my son and daughter-in-law!"

The Second Lady had been standing all along, but now her face also brightened with a smile!

She deeply hoped that every word spoken was true so that when she went to sleep at night and woke up the next day, this would not turn out to be a dream!

"Granny, don’t stand there, take a seat!" When Ye Shiqi noticed her grandmother still standing, she cleverly pulled her over to a nearby chair to sit down.

The Second Lady, who had always remained standing whenever there were guests or Madam was present, was now being led to a seat by her clever and well-behaved granddaughter.

Indeed, a smart, lively, and well-behaved granddaughter; having such a descendant was joyous for an elder, as gratifying as savouring honey!
