Aunt Lai trembled with rage upon seeing her daughter disobeying her!

Ye Daidi grabbed the wet nurse and ran away, stomping her feet while constantly retreating, choosing to keep her distance from this tigress of a mother.

Aunt Lai, not giving up on eavesdropping, tried to sneak into the next room to listen in, a room she had previously occupied for her miscarriage recovery.

Now, only he would occasionally sit there, and no one else was willing to step into that room unless Aunt Lai had the little maid bring in tea, pastries, and fruit to entertain her.

Aunt Lai pressed her ear against the wall, only to hear faint sounds from next door, unable to make out what they were talking about!

What could be so secretive???

In the living room next door, Mrs. Li was listening to Ye Fengqi recount to her mother the day’s events.

"Mother, it was just a race, and I didn’t provoke them by the roadside. The people racing with us wouldn’t make way; how is that related to ?"

"Ye Jinxiang and Ye Lanzi actually thought I was easy to bully! They, with their plump bodies, tried to bump into the pond, but I simply dodged. And now they’re blaming for their fall into the pond!"

While speaking to her mother, Ye Fengqi’s tone carried a whiny note, seeking her mother’s judgnt and support.

At Ye Zhiwei’s family’s ho, they were celebrating a happy occasion today. Mrs. Li had heard fireworks in the early morning and had asked a maid who was having such a long-lasting celebration.

Learning that it was Ye Zhengxiong, the Second Young Master, getting married, she rembered how her eldest daughter was proposed to by his family through a matchmaker a few years ago, only to be repeatedly declined!

Perhaps because her daughter was now betrothed, their family had quieted down and started arranging Ye Zhengxiong’s wedding, after all, he was already a 21-year-old young man.

The two families had ongoing friction, and after Ye Zhengxiong’s wedding, their interactions would be even less. Living in the sa village, they might have friction over other matters!

"What exactly happened?"

Ye Fengqi conveyed the sequence of events to her mother and also voiced their concerns that the other family might seek retribution against them following today’s events.

Mrs. Li sighed inwardly. In the entire incident, her daughter was just a minor protagonist, the bullies turning their sights away from those with powerful backgrounds, and onto her daughter living in the countryside.

Such scoundrels, such petty people, they did not fear a direct confrontation, but they dreaded them ruining their own daughter’s reputation. Her eldest daughter was already a precedent, and it’d taken a long ti to overco that hurdle.

"Sigh, it’s not your fault about today’s events. It’s just that you young masters, though noble, acted too rashly. After all, they were hosting a wedding; if you had simply made way for the groom to pass, this incident wouldn’t have occurred," Mrs. Li said, her words prompting Si Ma Roui and Ye Fengqi to hang their heads in submission, realizing they had not intervened to stop their companions from clashing with the other party.

Listening to her mother’s admonition, Ye Fengqi understood that she was wrong for not stopping her guests.

Those who liked to pick on the soft-pedaled ones were also at fault; both parties were wrong in this incident.

For now, these noblen wouldn’t dare seek revenge, but perhaps after today, they might co after their family.

If it was just a matter of compensating with so money, Ye Fengqi felt aggrieved at the thought of letting soone else extort a sum from her family for this unexpected calamity.

"Mother, they all said they would take revenge on , or our family, telling to go to the Capital City to avoid this issue!"

Ye Fengqi summoned the courage to speak to her mother about this matter!

Mrs. Li glanced at Si Ma Rou, who was there when her daughter ntioned the issue, making it problematic for her to support her daughter’s departure to Capital City.

What was she to do?

With several other daughters already in the Capital City and dearly missed, the thought of even this daughter leaving for Capital City nearly drove her mad with longing.

Longing for her daughters to the point of madness!

Si Ma Rou, upon receiving Mrs. Li’s gaze, nodded and said, "Tomorrow, those young masters will head to the Capital City. Tang Xiyue’s son will also be going to the Capital City. It would be good for Ye Fengqi to have so company; Madam, rest assured!"

Mrs. Li, of course, didn’t feel at ease about her daughter going to the Capital City. The Capital City was now a dragon’s lair and tiger’s den for their family, and nobody else understood the dangers within!

The things that the people at ho might encounter could be dangerous, but they were just so conflicts, friction that wouldn’t lead to deadly disasters!

Once her daughter went to the Capital City, it would be hard to say. Now that they knew about the dangers of the Capital City, she and her husband had nightmares every night!

Praying to Buddha and offering incense, they would pray for their daughters’ safety.

"I object, being at ho isn’t as dangerous as the Capital City!"

Si Ma Roui...? Dangers of the Capital City? What was she talking about? Why couldn’t she understand?

Her eyes looked at Ye Fengqi, wanting to know what was really going on.

Ye Fengqi understood what his mother was referring to, but he couldn’t explain these dangers to the official’s daughter in Si Ma Roui’s presence!

"Si Ma Roui, once you get to the Capital City, you will understand!"

Ye Fengqi gave away a little secret!

Si Ma Roui looked on, feeling uncertain, and it was not appropriate to inquire about other families’ affairs.

"Mother, you should discuss it with father again. I feel that leaving this place doesn’t necessarily an encountering danger!"

Mrs. Li shook her head at her daughter’s words, resolutely opposing.

"Your elder sister and your little sister have only sent a letter or two during this period. Your little sister went to a distant place, and up to now, there has been no news, no letters. How can I rest assured letting you go to the Capital City?"

Si Ma Roui?? Ye Shiqi went to a distant place?

How did she not know about this?

Just how far was this distant place?

She really wanted to go to the Capital City quickly to understand the situation!

Si Ma Roui decided, tomorrow during the farewell, to ask Tang Xiyue to gather all the information about the Ye Family’s sisters in the Capital City and the distant Ye Shiqi, then write to her with a clear update.

She also really wanted to ask Ye Fengqi at this mont.

But she thought that it must be the Ye family’s secret, not necessarily sothing they would tell her.

"Mother, wouldn’t it be better for to go to the Capital City and use my identity to protect my elder sisters? There are so matters that my elder sisters can’t handle, but I can, being younger!"

Ye Fengqi talked about the situation: their family house in the Capital City had constantly been receiving visitors recently.

Mrs. Li didn’t actually want to leave her daughters in the Capital City, but as a woman, she had to follow her husband, adhering to the three obediences and four virtues!

The old ho had elderly people that needed care, and there were so many properties to manage here!

"Mother absolutely disagree with you going to the Capital City, it’s no use talking about it!"

Ye Fengqi was already prepared; he knew his mother would object, which was why he had asked Uncle to co and persuade her, saying, "Mother doesn’t agree, I’ll go ask father!"

"Your father will certainly not agree!" Mrs. Li said with certainty.

"Uncle has already agreed, and he has prepared everything. He will discuss it with you and the guests at noon, and has also prepared things for our trip to the Capital City!"

Ye Fengqi said resolutely, then thought of his younger brother. After all, the youngest brother in the family was a boy, and even though he was young, he could help.
