"I said don’t." His voice dropped lower, rougher.
’Okay, that’s weird. You’ve been touching all this while and you ain’t mad at that. What a hypocrite!’
Before I could say anything else, a young scout burst through the crowd, drenched and panting.
"Alpha! Rogues... north... we were attacked!"
"What about Theo? Didn’t he take care of them?"
"Yes, but the rogues are too many. They keep coming." The scout’s voice ca clearer than before, and his breathing had cald down a little.
Damon’s jaw clenched, a deep growl reverberating from his chest. His body began to ripple as fur appeared over him. His claws elongated. He couldn’t believe the audacity of the rogues—how dare they attack his pack? His grey eyes glinted with anger.
Just as he was about to transform, a soft, calm voice cut through the chaos.
"It’s already handled."
Everyone turned to the direction the voice was coming from.
A woman walked toward them, her black cloak flowing behind her like shadows. Her raven-black hair clung to her face, and her hazel eyes glowed faintly as she walked. She looked powerful, and her aura demanded respect, leaving her onlookers in awe. As she ca closer, the blood staining her skin and clothes beca visible.
Hearing no reply, "I took care of it," she said again, louder this ti.
Damon’s claws slowly retracted. His chest rose and fell in a calr rhythm. He stared at her like she wasn’t a stranger; however, her presence made him clench his hand before exhaling deeply.
I stood in a daze as I watched the new stranger, who I knew wasn’t my match... yet. But she did look very stunning. Her presence was so strong that it was impossible to ignore her.
’Who is she?’ I couldn’t help but wonder.
As if sensing my gaze, her eyes locked with mine for a brief mont, but in those few seconds, all I could see in her eyes was disgust, irritation, and a little bit of hatred. The intensity of her gaze almost made sink into the earth.
’I’ve never seen her before, so why is she looking at as if I stole her candy... or maybe more?’
Damon walked over to her without a word. The colour of his eyes hadn’t gone back to their normal black shades, which ant that his wolf was still in control.
"Alpha Allison, what a surprise, I must say," he began, his face turning colder. "As much as I appreciate your effort, we didn’t really need your help. But I guess I have to say thank you."
She smiled, ignoring his sarcastic tone. "You don’t have to thank for that. It was my pleasure to offer so help. But I must say, you surely have an amazing son. He had already taken care of most of the rogues before my arrival."
"Oh, I know. My son is the best son anyone can wish for." His lips pulled up into a smirk.
"What brought you to my pack, Alpha Allison?" His voice grew nacingly low.
Anyone else would already be shivering in his presence, but she held his gaze, her red lips curving up into a flirtatious smile.
"I was passing by, and I heard that your pack was suffering from flooding, so I ca to help," she said, stepping closer to him.
anwhile, her eyes were telling another tale.
Damon closed his eyes, his chest falling heavily. "I’m sorry I can’t entertain you. As you can see, everything is a ss," he said through gritted teeth. And when he opened his eyes again, they were still grey.
"It doesn’t matter, I’ll manage." She smiled before casting another glance at . This ti, it sent shivers down my spine. My fingers tightened around the bowl of soup in my hand.
"Co with ," he directed her toward where he was sitting by the fireside, totally ignoring .
I looked down at my plate as sothing bitter spread over my chest. It was like this new girl was taking my spot beside him. And to make matters worse, most of the elders ca to sit beside them, their eyes looking at her with respect and reverence.
"Alpha Allison, thank you for coming to our aid. You truly are the epito of a real Luna. Your mate will be lucky to have you," Elder Dominic began, as he cast a glance at Damon before returning his gaze to her.
Hearing his words, Alpha Allison smiled graciously at him. "I hope I would find a strong Alpha like Alpha Damon." Her eyes lingered on him for a little too long before averting her gaze to the elders. "I hope I will be lucky enough to be blessed by the Moon Goddess to find my mate."
’Liar. You don’t look like soone who is looking for your fated mate. Rather, you’ve got your eyes on Damon—that fucking psychopath. Can’t she see he is a malicious man? Why would she go for him? He is nothing but a pretty face... and well-endowed man... fuck this, Ember.’ I facepald myself as I dropped the bowl of soup, which had already turned cold.
Strangely enough, I didn’t want to drink the soup anymore. So I turned to them again. I couldn’t even believe the elders were wagging their tails at her.
