The barrier parted, Rhydian’s eyes t mine, his gaze softened, before hardening as soon as they fell on Damon.
He hurried through the parted wall, the mont he got closer to , he rushed to embrace . Noticing his intention, Damon pulled out of his way with the speed of lightning, which made crash into his chest, anwhile, Rhydian stumbled forward embracing thin air.
Rhydian blew out a sigh of frustration, but he quickly masked his dissatisfaction with a smile. He turned to face us, his eyes darkened slightly as his gaze fell on our intimate position.
I cleared my throat, pulling away from Damon’s embrace, however, Damon held back possessively as if he was trying to declare I belonged to no one but him.
"Let go," I yelled in a mouthing gesture.
"Aeris, I’m happy you are fine and alive." Rhydian’s voice cracked. He walked closer, his eyes drooping in sadness. "I’m sorry I failed to protect you, I’m not a good friend... if only I were able to protect you, you wouldn’t have gone through that pain." He lowered his head.
I pulled away from Damon’s embrace, this ti he didn’t hold back.
I walked closer to him, folding my arms across my chest like a stubborn child. I turned my head away from him.
"Aeris, can you find it in your heart to forgive ?" He asked, raising his head slightly.
"Why did you do that?" My voice ca harsher than I intended.
"Do what?" He asked, slightly taken aback by my question.
"When the Bone witch held captive, why did you ask Damon to comply with the witch’s request? Why would you ask a friend to sacrifice his life for mine? And you truly think the witch would have let go?" My voice rose higher, with every question.
Rhydian lowered his head again. "I panicked, seeing the blood trickling down your neck. Not only did I ask him, but I was rude about it. I was just scared to lose you... I was selfish, yes I know." he raised his gaze to et mine. "But I’ll do anything to keep you alive, Aeris."
"I didn’t give my heart because of you, I did it because Aeris is the love of my life..." Damon gave a death glare at Rhydian, before standing between us. "And you are not obligated to protect her, she is mine, and mine to protect... and endeavor to stay a few steps away from my MATE." He growled, a low rumble reverberating through his chest.
’Shit, this guy. Why must he say that to Rhydian? And I have not fully accepted being his mate yet and he thinks it is cool to act all possessive?!’
I shook my head in this belief.
"Now that you know my MATE is fine, why don’t you teleport back to your Fae realm?" Damon tilted his head up in a deaning gesture. Rhydian was only a few inches shorter than him.
The air between them crackled, like iron sharpening iron.
"She’s a fae, she belongs to the fae realm, and I don’t know why you claim she’s your mate, but if she belongs to anyone, that should be ." Rhydian’s eyes sparkled with a dangerous glint.
Damon growled ferociously, his eyes turning to a dangerous shade of silver grey. "She’s mine."
I rolled my eyes in exasperation. I was tired, and wasn’t ready for any drama, although I was curious to know why Rhydian would think I should be his... but no drama.
I flicked my finger and the portal closed again, then a portal ford behind . I glance at them one last ti. They were already at each other’s throats, I shook my head, before stepping inside the portal, disappearing from the disaster that was about to happen.
They could kill each other for all I care... actually, I knew Rhydian wasn’t a match for Damon, so whatever may co, Damon would surely survive.
I stepped out of the portal, and I stood in Damon’s room... well my room now, I tossed my body onto the bed, it creaked slightly, bouncing a little before coming to a still position.
I drew the blanket over my face, fluttering my eyes closed. I hope Rhydian will survive, that would be his punishnt for acting like a rotten egg.
....
Knock. Knock. Knock.
The relentless banging on the door woke from my slumber, and my drowsy eyes fluttered open, only to find my body glowing gold.
A line of crease ford on my forehead. ’Why am I glowing? Is this what they ant by beauty sleep?...’
Knock. Knock. Knock.
The banging sound resud again, and I groaned out of frustration. I dragged the blanket off my legs, before walking to the door in seething anger.
I slamd it open. "What?!" I yelled.
Behold it was no other than Mr. Four eyes. He looked at with irritation dancing in his eyes, before pushing back his glasses in anger. "I’ve been banging on your door for like forever, and you are only answering now?! And you are yelling at ?!" His voice rose almost to the height of the ceiling.
I ignored his seething anger. "What do you want?" I folded my hands across my chest.
He rolled his eyes. "Do you know what the ti is? And you are still sleeping?"
"I was getting my beauty sleep, Mr. Four eyes," I said nonchalantly to spike him, after all this maniac pulled my hair when I lost my mories.
His lips ford into a deep scowl. "Beauty sleep, then why do you look like a panda who has been starved of food and sleep?" He curved into a grin at the end.
"You..."
Before I could unleash my fury, he held his hand out, cutting off. My eyes burned like coal at his gesture. ’How dare he!’
"My father and your friend Rhydian have been fighting since dawn, and it is noon now. We have tried to separate them but to no avail, your intervention is needed." He said with a deep sigh.
A devilish grin ford on my lips. How could I let him win with those insults? "I’ll only go with you, if you call ... Master."
