I froze in my spot as my heart pounded in my ears.
Suddenly a hand covered my lips and pulled to the corner. I struggled to break free, and panic rushed up my spine.
I kicked the air, and my fingers dug into his skin. My eyes widened in fear and my scream had been reduced to nothing but muffled noises.
"Aeris, it’s Rhydain. Stop making noise or we’ll get caught." He whispered in my ear.
"What?" But my words ca out muffled. I raised my head to see his face, and it really was Rhydian.
"I’m going to remove my hand from your mouth now... don’t make any noise." He warned, before removing his hand.
I turned to face him. "Why are you here?" I arched my brows at him.
’Has he been following ? Why? Did he notice that I lied to him?’
"Shhh." He pulled into an embrace, and my face crashed into his chest.
Before I could protest I heard the sound of approaching footsteps. "Who is there?" The guards held their weapons, walking closer to us.
I prayed in my mind not to get caught. Else it would be the end of my freedom.
My breath hitched as one of the guards stood right in front of us. He looked everywhere, then he lowered his sword. "There is no one here, maybe we heard it wrong," he said to the other guard, then they walked away.
"They are gone." I squeak. I felt my lungs crushing from how tightly he was holding .
"Oh, my apologies Aeris." He released his hand around .
I took a few steps away from him, swallowing the lump in my throat. "How was it possible that they didn’t see us even when he stood right in front of us?" I cleared my throat.
"I used magic to make us invisible. Are you hurt?" He looked worried, seeing the way I was rubbing my arms.
"No I am not hurt... but what are you doing here? We have both changed paths earlier... and you should have left for ho. And how did you even get inside the dungeon?"
A small smile ford on the corner of his lips. "Too many questions. Which one should I answer first?"
"You..."
"Why are you here Aeris?" His eyes turned sharp.
"?" I pointed to myself. "Why are you asking when you have not answered my questions yet?"
Rhydian sighed. "Tell why you are here, so I can help you. And to answer your question, I’m here because I followed you here. I wanted to give you your earring, which was on the ground." He brought out a golden earring from his pocket.
I touched my ears, only to realise one was really missing. "Oh, thank you." I collected the earring from him, wearing it again.
"So tell why you are here."
"Hmm, I ca to rescue my wolf," I said, walking back to the Iron gate.
"Your wolf? You have a wolf?" He didn’t look like he believed .
"Yes, I do. Can you help open the door?" I pleaded with my eyes.
"You are making do bad things." He muttered under his breath,
He made so movent with his hands, then blue energy flowed into an engraved marking on the iron door... which was invisible a few seconds ago.
The door creaked open, and before I could step inside, sothing blurred out of the door, jumping on top of Rhydian. Growls and snarls filled the passageway.
Luckily, Rhydain was quick enough to create a small barrier around himself.
When I turned, my feet moved towards them before my brain could realise it. "White," I called. But he ignored , his eyes were silvery grey.
Every claw he swung, made a crack on the barrier. Without thinking twice I threw myself on top of him. I began sobbing... "Stop White, you are scaring ." My lips quivered. "I miss you... I thought I had lost you."
White stopped attacking Rhydian, he growled lowly, baring his teeth at him before turning to face . He placed his head on my shoulders, and I returned the hug, burying my head in his fur. "I’m sorry for coming late." My shoulders shook.
He whimpered. I knew he had missed too. I pulled out from the embrace, "Let’s get you out of here." I ran my fingers through his fur.
Rhydian stood up dusting his body. "It was nice eting you too." He muttered under his breath, but only earned more growls from White.
"It’s okay, he’s a friend. He helped us, White. Just be civil." But he looked away.
I chuckled at his gesture. I turned to Rhydain. "Are you okay? Did he hurt you?"
"No, I’m fine." He flashed a smile at , but when his gaze landed on White, his eyes hardened.
"Can you help find a way to get him without detection?" I rose to my feet.
"Hmm. There is a way. I can make him invisible." He said, though his gaze lingered on White with unease.
I nodded my head. "Thank you Rhydian for your help."
He took a few steps closer to , but before he could co close, White placed himself between us. I laughed at his jealousy.
Rhydian clenched his jaws. "Anyti Aeris... you shouldn’t hide things from . Let help you when you need help, okay?" his gaze softened the mont they t mine.
"Okay," I said, using one of my hands to caress White’s fur. "Can you help out of the dungeon?"
A bright smile contorted on his face. "Sure." With a wave of his hand, we beca invisible. We walked out of the dungeon, down to the garden. Then we beca visible again, apart from White who was still invisible.
"I really appreciate your help Rhydain."
"It was nothing. That is what friends do." He held his hand behind his back.
"See you soon," I said, my eyes avoiding his. I felt bad for lying to him but I can’t bring him into my ss. This was enough help from him.
