"You really want to shed blood in my land?" the King stepped inside the room. His eyes ran over Aeris’ unconscious body for a brief second before he turned back to .

"King Zeir, what have you done to my mate?!" Beowulf’s growl thundered across the room. The air beca tense, and fae guards fidgeted, trying to withstand my aura.

Our aura was oppressive, cold, and murderous. Zeir’s aura seeped into the room, clashing with mine while protecting his guards from mine.

"Your mate? Who might that be?" He stood in front of , his cold eyes staring straight into .

His jaws clenched, and a murderous glint flickered through his eyes.

"Let’s rip him apart," Beowulf mindlinked .

I clicked my tongue in annoyance. "We are in his land Beowulf, if we hurt him that will lead to another war... we already have the Bloodmoon pack to face."

"But we can’t let him talk to us in that manner... I. Won’t. Allow. It." He prowled, his furs rippling, as he took an attacking stance.

"Hurt a strand of my hair, not that you will be able to. But if you do, you are not going to see her again, nor you two n, who are outside the castle." His tone carried weight.

A low growl rumbled in our chest, ’The bastard is actually threatening us.’

Our eyes moved to Aeris who was being carried out of the room, Beowulf moved forward to follow after her. "Where are you taking her to?"

"We have to save her. I don’t know what you saw in my niece. But I have to tell you she is not your mate." He paused. "Haven’t you heard of a doppelganger? She might resemble your mate, but she is not."

"Lies!!!" Beowulf barked.

My chest tightened, ’there is no way she is not Ember, if she wasn’t why did she react to my bracelet? He is lying... pure lies.’

"I don’t care if you believe or not." Zeir stepped closer. "Back down, or I’ll send Aeris to a place you will never find her, and as for your n... to the land of the dead." He said calmly. He gracefully held his hand behind his back.

’He has been watching us from the mont we stepped foot in the Fae realm. Why didn’t he co after us? Theo and Alaric are outside, if I act rashly they could be in danger. And worst of all, I don’t know what they will do to Ember.’

"If you step down." Zeir continued. "You’ll be locked up until Aeris’ wedding. After that, we’ll release you and send you back to your realm. What do you say?"

Beowulf growled in disapproval. "You will lock a king in a cell? Have you no respect?"

"Am I not giving you enough respect? Don’t forget you were the one who murdered the chosen Princess. Now look at what the realm has turned into!" Zeir’s hands shook from anger.

"Your so-called chosen Princess caused the death of my kind, almost wiping out their existence from the surface of the earth. I am the last of my kind, and that is all thanks to you."

Zeir’s hands curled into fists. "You think you’re the only one who lost people? The princess died in that war... my mate." His blue eyes turned into a deeper blue. "My people died too. And yet... I didn’t burn down your realm."

A glint of surprise flickered through our eyes. The Princess was his mate? But I quickly masked it with anger. My claws dug into the marble floor. "You’re not the only one grieving."

"No, I’m not." His voice dropped to a whisper. "But grief does not excuse arrogance."

A sharp silence settled between us, broken only by the faint sounds of armor clinking outside the door.

I lowered my gaze for a second. Not out of submission but calculation.

"I’ll go with you willingly," I said. "Just don’t touch her."

Zeir raised a brow. "You care that much?"

"I’ll kill for her." My voice ca out low, steady.

He studied for a mont, then gave a small nod to the guards. "Escort him to the southern tower. Make sure he’s chained with rune cuffs... Do not provoke him."

I didn’t resist as they approached. There were six of them, all ard with blades and spears coated in silver dust. ’Cowards.’

Beowulf snarled through the mindlink. "You’re making a mistake."

"No, I’m protecting what’s ours."

"By getting captured?"

"By keeping her safe."

The guards flinched as Beowulf moved past them, towering above them, his presence made them uneasy. They nervously guided us through the corridor.

They led us down a narrow flight of stairs, and it was cold and damp. We reached a cell carved into solid stone. Chains dangled from the ceiling, glowing faintly with enchantnt.

As the cuffs snapped around Beowulf’s front paws, our body jerked in pain. The runes stung like fire.

I gritted my teeth.

"She better be alright," I warned through a growl.

The guard avoided my eyes. "You should worry about yourself, beast."

They slamd the gate shut, locking it with a spell.

Silence fell.

Beowulf was quiet now, but I could still feel his rage burning.

We didn’t speak for a while. I just listened to the quiet hum of magic, to the distant footsteps, and to the faint echo of her voice in my mind.

Ember...

If they hurt her, I’ll burn this realm to the ground. I chanted like a prayer.

"At least she rembers now," I muttered.

"Not if they wipe away her mory again" Beowulf growled and snarled in pain.

He pulled the chains, however, the more he moved the tighter it beca and the pain beca unbearable.

"Damn you Damon," Beowulf growled in pain.

....

(Aeris POV)

A sharp pain tore through my skull, snapping my eyes open as I jumped to sit upright.

I sweated profusely, and my hair clung to the fra of my face. I was awake yet everything seed blurry... like a dream.
