Fen, his silver eyes gleaming with an unsettling calmness, raised his hand once again.
The world around seed to vanish as the air shifted, twisting, darkening with a violent energy that surged through the two portals behind Fen.
The mont they flared to life, I knew what was coming.
Silver spears, gleaming with deadly intent, multiple spears shot out like lightning streaking toward us.
I didn’t have ti to think, just react.
I darted to the side, my heart hamring in my chest.
The first spear sliced through the air where I had been standing a mont ago.
The wind from it stung my skin, sharp as a blade.
I could feel the heat of the next one coming, and I barely twisted my body in ti to dodge it.
My muscles scread, fatigue starting to build as my body grew slower with each movent.
The third spear ca at from my left, so fast I didn’t have a prayer of dodging without a near-fatal risk.
I threw myself forward, just barely escaping the deadly point as it passed inches above .
The ground beneath my feet cracked from the force.
The fourth spear ca at from the left, its tip aid directly at my chest.
I pivoted on my heel, ducking just in ti, the spear grazing the side of my face.
A sting blood along my cheek where it scraped .
Blood trickled down, but there was no ti to dwell on it.
Another spear was already coming from the right, and this ti, I didn’t have the luxury of dodging with finesse.
I dropped to the ground, rolling, the spear missing by re inches.
As I pushed myself up, a sixth spear shot straight for my gut.
Panic surged, but my fingers were already closing around Doom.
A quick flick of my wrist, just enough to adjust the aim, and I fired.
The spear disintegrated in mid-air.
I let out a breath, barely having ti to process the near miss before another spear shot toward , so fast I could barely track its movents.
My body twisted, contorting in a desperate attempt to dodge it, but this ti the spear grazed my side, a sharp pain exploding across my ribs as I stumbled.
"Dammit!" I grunted, but there was no ti for anger.
The next spear was already coming.
I couldn’t keep doing this forever.
The spears ca at relentlessly, one after the other, each strike harder to avoid than the last.
I gritted my teeth, sweat pouring down my face, my breathing shallow.
It was like fighting against ti itself, each spear reversed course and ca back at faster, sharper.
I aid Doom at the ground to steady myself, pulling off a few quick shots that shattered the first few spears before they could turn.
But the constant onslaught was wearing down.
My body was bruised and battered, each dodge leaving my muscles feeling heavier, more sluggish.
The pain was unbearable, but I couldn’t stop moving.
I couldn’t let myself stop moving.
Ori was at my side, a dark shadow in the chaos, moving faster than I could even blink.
The large black wolf effortlessly dodged spears, his lithe form weaving between attacks with ease.
But every ti one of those spears ca near , Ori would lunge at it, batting it out of the air with his powerful paws or simply biting it into pieces before it could get to .
The wolf was doing all he could to keep from getting impaled, but even he couldn’t do it all.
Together, we were holding our ground.
But it wasn’t enough.
Every spear that grazed took its toll.
My movents were slowing, my breath coming in sharp, ragged bursts.
I wasn’t just dodging anymore, I was desperately trying to stay alive.
The pain from my injuries was sharp, and with each movent, it intensified.
Another five spears shot at , faster than I could track.
I moved instinctively, weaving between them like a dancer in a deadly ballet.
The first two barely missed, but the third spear caught across my thigh, sending a jolt of pain through my leg.
I grimaced, forcing myself to keep moving.
The fourth spear grazed my shoulder, but I didn’t even register the pain until the fifth spear narrowly missed my head.
I wasn’t sure how much longer I could keep this up.
Another spear shot out, and I felt the blade tear through my side as I dodged to the right.
The pain was sharp, sudden.
Blood dripped down my arm, and I staggered, vision blurring at the edges.
That could’ve been the end.
I gritted my teeth and pushed myself upright.
I staggered to the side, struggling to find my footing, my chest heaving from the strain.
Blood dripped from several cuts, my body was screaming, and the spears didn’t stop coming.
I could feel my resolve slipping, but I wasn’t about to go down without a fight.
And then, sothing inside snapped.
Rather than wasting another mont dodging, I turned my focus on Fen.
Fen was calm.
Too calm.
His eyes barely moved as the spears whizzed by him, as though he had no care in the world.
His fingers barely twitched as the portals continued to pump out weapon after weapon, each more dangerous than the last.
His calm, detached expression, like this was all so sort of sick entertainnt to him, pushed over the edge.
It was as if he were mocking .
Like he found all of this amusing.
The nerve of him.
Sothing in snapped.
I was sick of it.
Sick of his cold, calculating gaze.
Sick of how he seed to be enjoying this, his amusent making my blood boil.
A spear flew directly toward .
I didn’t dodge this ti.
I shot.
The bullet from Doom shot through the air, striking the spear dead center.
It disintegrated into silver dust before it could reach .
"Is this really the best entertainnt you can offer?" I yelled, my voice hoarse from the effort of dodging and shooting. "How boring."
I fired again, another spear breaking apart before it even had a chance to turn back around.
Fen’s expression barely flickered.
He didn’t seem impressed.
Instead, his gaze darkened, his hands raised slowly as he muttered sothing to himself.
"How quaint."
He flicked his wrist, and a dozen spears shot out of the portals, this ti coming directly for , too fast to dodge.
I barely had ti to blink before they were upon , and my heart skipped a beat as I realized I was in trouble.
I could feel the weight of each of them bearing down on , each one aiming to pierce my body.
There was no way out.
My instincts scread at to do sothing, anything.
But there was no space to think, no way to escape.
My body was too slow, too beaten down from the constant barrage of attacks.
The spears would tear through in an instant, and all I had left was...
Doom.
I raised it, my hands trembling, already knowing this would be my last chance.
My body scread in pain as I pulled the trigger, but my aim was true.
I shot the first spear.
It dissolved instantly.
The second one, gone.
The third, the fourth, each shattered under the force of my shots.
But they kept coming, and I kept firing, one after another.
But the last group of five spears ca at so quickly, I couldn’t keep up.
I dodged, twisted, spun, each movent slower than the last, my legs like lead.
One spear grazed my side, another cut across my chest.
My body was giving out.
The pain was unbearable, but I pushed through it.
I avoided the last of the five, but I wasn’t fast enough.
My body felt like it was breaking down, each dodge taking more energy than I had left.
Blood dripped from my wounds, staining the ground beneath .
I could barely stand.
But then I saw it.
Fen was still watching , his gaze never wavering, that damn smirk still on his face.
And I realized, he wasn’t even trying.
He wasn’t even sweating.
I raised Doom again, aiming straight for him this ti, not the spears.
His posture barely shifted as he regarded , his silver eyes still empty of any real emotion.
I pulled the trigger.
The shot rang out, and Fen didn’t even flinch as the bullet rocketed toward him.
Without any effort, he sidestepped.
The bullet missed by miles.
I shot again.
And again.
Each ti, Fen dodged with zero effort.
It was infuriating.
His calmness was maddening, like he wasn’t even trying.
I wasn’t even aiming to hit him at this point, I was just trying to provoke him, trying to make him feel sothing other than boredom.
But that didn’t work.
Fen’s eyes narrowed slightly, a flicker of irritation passing across his face.
He raised his hand, and I saw the portals flare open behind him once more.
"Is that really all you can do?" Fen said, his voice laced with an edge of annoyance. "I suppose I’ll have to end this now."
Before I could react, spears flew out of the portals like a storm.
They were so nurous, so fast, that I didn’t even have ti to aim or dodge.
