Never ss with the Black Cicadas. Ever.

This was an unspoken rule that was widely known and obeyed throughout the entire assassin scene.

mbers of the Tiro list, Maven list, Maestros list, and even mbers of the list of Titans all acknowledged this rule without question.

And honestly, who could bla them?

The leader of the Black Cicadas, presumbly nad Lin Zhu, was known to be immune to bullets after all.

Only mbers in the secretive lists higher than the list of Titans never had to concern themselves with such a rule.

But still, since nobody in the secretive list had ever bothered or even cared enough to try and openly ss with them besides the Golden Cobra, who operated in secrecy, that rule remained untouched.

It wouldn't be until Ronald randomly killed her off a few years later that the rule would eventually fade into obscurity.

That was why when this receptionist skillfully blasted the KTV's employees out of nowhere, Ronald was utterly confused.

After all, even though he didn't actively follow the assassin scene closely all that much in his previous life, he was pretty certain that nobody ever openly dared to oppose the Black Cicadas like this in his previous life.

Nevertheless, Ronald wanted absolutely nothing to do with whatever conflict had just erupted here and decided it was better to just co back another day.

Thus, Ronald briefly casted a frightened look on his face before turning away from the receptionist, intending to rush right back out the front doors.

Unfortunately before Ronald could even begin walking away however, the receptionist suddenly lunged over the countertop and quickly grabbed his wrist.

"Hey, didn't I tell you to follow ?"

"And why should I, you crazy woman? You just killed three innocent people right in front of !" Ronald turned back around and shouted furiously.

"Because I'm the only chance you have at escaping this place alive." The receptionist then pointed at a weird black flashing device above the two front doors and said, "Look carefully."

Then as if on cue...

CLANG!

The black flashing device stopped blinking all of a sudden, and the two steel doors imdiately closed shut in a flash.

If anyone had been unfortunate enough to have been crossing through those double doors when they snapped closed, they would've been crushed instantly.

"Now will you cooperate with ? Or am I going to have to forcefully drag you along with ?"

"..." Ronald kept his mouth shut and slowly obediently nodded his head.

It wasn't that he had suddenly beco scared all of a sudden.

After all, the door trap that the KTV had set up had no chance of even harming him a little bit whatsoever.

No, rather, he wasn't too sure of what other traps this KTV had laid out in advance.

And if he were to fall into one of these other traps later on, it would completely expose his strength.

Thus, he figured he might as well cling onto the receptionist's legs for now, who for whatever reason was currently trying to help him, and escape with her instead.

"Good." The receptionist, seeing that Ronald was finally being obedient, let go of Ronald's wrist and then peaked behind the countertop where she was standing at earlier to check if there were any more employees coming.

Strangely though, there wasn't even a single trace of movent headed towards her whatsoever.

It was as if nobody in the KTV had even heard of the recent gunshot fire at all.

If it weren't for the dead bodies still currently lying down here across the floor, she might've assud that she had gone a bit crazy.

Thankfully, this ant that the sense of urgency she previously felt when she had killed those employees was gone now, and she could relax sowhat a bit.

Nevertheless, Ronald was still here in the vicinity with her, and needed to get him to safety quickly.

"Listen, is there anything strong on you that can be used to fight off soone at all?" The receptionist quickly turned her attention back to Ronald and asked.

"Nope, nothing at all." Ronald quickly replied.

"Are you sure about that? Not even sothing that can like protect you against an attack?" The receptionist said in disbelief.

"Does it look like there's anything on that can do such a thing? Why even bother asking such a silly question?" Ronald couldn't help but furrow his brows for asking such obvious questions.

Even if this receptionist was a cultivator by any ans, which she clearly wasn't one, magic artifacts and treasures were still extrely rare at this ti.

So why would he have anything like that on him currently?

"That's because you're the person she's trying to... ugh, forget it." The receptionist suddenly shook her head and gave up trying to question him.

If he says that he doesn't have anything useful on him while in such a predicant such as this one, then he most likely wasn't lying.

"Just follow closely behind and try not to cause any trouble." The receptionist sighed and then began walking carefully ahead deeper into the KTV with her gun in hand.

Ronald also did what he was told to do without question, and they then proceeded to cautiously move throughout the hallways.

As they were stealthily moving and hugging against one side of the hallways however, Ronald couldn't help but continuously cast a strange look on his face every so often.

After all, he could clearly sense more hostiles patiently lurking nearby in the KTV rooms as they were moving.

And yet, none of them were even bothering to show themselves even though this was probably the most opportune mont to strike at both him and the receptionist.

However, since Ronald just assud that Lin Zhu had given them orders to not attack him, he didn't really think much about it.

It wasn't long before the two eventually made it to the entrance of one of the rooms in the Queen's hall without any issues for so reason, and the receptionist quickly peeked her head inside to check and see if anyone was inside.

Then once she confird that there wasn't actually anyone in there, she pushed the door fully open, stepped inside, and beckoned her hand at Ronald.

"Co inside." The receptionist said.

Ronald did as instructed, and after the receptionist closed the door behind him, she walked over to the side of the red sofa cushion, bent her knees down, and then flicked a very small tiny switch underneath the sofa.

Once the switch was activated, tal barrier walls imdiately erged out from the top and sides of the room, almost completely encapsulating them both into the room with just the bottom floor still left visible.

This of course sowhat startled Ronald, but the receptionist didn't bother explaining what she had just done and instead continued on with examining the room for a very specific item.

Eventually, she had found the item she was looking for, which was a small crystal ball that was half the size of the palm of her hands, and she threw it against the floors, similar to what Ronald had done back when he was at the masquerade party.

Afterwards, a clicking sound could be heard from beneath the carpet floors, which the receptionist didn't hesitate to imdiately rip off the carpets entirely.

There, a hidden trap door was revealed along with a ladder leading down into a pitch black passage.

"I'll go in first so I can navigate the underground route better, make sure to close the trap door behind you once you get inside." The receptionist said directly then climbed down the ladder without another mont's notice.

Ronald nodded his head and followed closely behind.

Once both of them made it fully down, they began walking together down a dark and narrow dirt tunnel, with the receptionist leading and pointing the muzzle of her weapon straight down the path before her.

"Uh, so... are you going to like ever explain to just what in the hell is going on here? Like seriously, I just wanted to know if my friend was here at the KTV or not and the next thing I know, there are three dead bodies scattered across the venue and now I'm forced to go down so creepy and claustrophobic tunnel with you." Ronald, feeling awkward that neither him or the receptionist had actually said anything during the ti they were walking underground so far, decided to finally open his mouth and break the silence.

But as expected, the receptionist didn't say anything back and only looked back at him as though he was an idiot.

And honestly, who could bla her?

Ronald had single-handedly ruined the only mission she was given to by her sect master just by ntioning a random na that she was certain he knew nothing about after all.

If it weren't for the fact that she had heard rumors from so of the inner and core sect mbers about how much the sect master cherished him, she would've let the KTV employees execute him on the spot.

Luckily she didn't allow that to happen, otherwise she might've been hunted down by her own sect for it.

Still, she couldn't understand why such a powerful and intelligent person such as her sect master would treat soone like Ronald with so much importance.

From the rumors she's heard about him before she joined the sect, Ronald should be by defintion an absolute scumbag.

After all, just to na a few besides the obvious ones, he bullies poor and middle-class citizens whenever he gets the chance, flaunts his wealth like he's superior to everyone else, and hires people to beat others nearly to death knowing full well that he can get away with it.

If he wasn't considered the scum of this planet, then she didn't know what was.

'Forget it. Let's just get him out of here first and then explain everything back at the sect.'

Once that was decided, the receptionist stopped her lingering thoughts and paid attention back to the path ahead.

About an hour later, the two had arrived to what seed liked an intersection with 8 different tunnels to choose from.

If it was exactly how the sect master described it to her, then she needed to take the right path that was adjacent to the path in front of her to reach one of Lin Zhu's safe houses that doesn't have any guards present.

As such, she pointed to the right path adjacent to the path in front of her and said, "Just another hour and we'll make it to-"

It was at this mont that the sound of light footsteps could be heard approaching from a different tunnel near them, and soon after, a woman with long light black with a stripe of dark cyan hair erged onto the intersection.

And that person was of course, none other than the person she least wanted to see.

"Lin Zhu!" The receptionist shouted out of fear and then turned to Ronald in desperation, "Hurry! Get out of here now! I'll try to buy you so ti-"

Before the receptionist could even finish speaking however...

BAM!

Lin Zhu imdiately past right by the receptionist before she could even react and punched Ronald.

"..."

"RONALD!"
