Bry's POV
"What took you so long?" Ray asked when I returned from the room.
"Nothing. I just had to check on the books I brought back."
But that wasn't the reason.
Fan, who has been avoiding for days now, decided to return to the room at the sa ti that I did.
Though he didn't say a word to , I can tell he didn't wish to remain in enmity with .
But do I care?
No, of course, not.
I can care less for a system that's trying to thwart my plans.
And that reminds , it has been long since I received punishnt for going against the plot.
Could it be that they have gotten tired of punishing ?
Hmm.
That seems like the case.
"Brys!"
I was startled by the yell.
"What's wrong?"
"You just zood out on ." Ray batted the space next to him. "The Betas are wrestling against the Alphas, in their wolf form!"
"What?"
I sat next to him, stunned to hear of the next ga.
When I returned, and saw everyone sitting in a circle, I presud the teachers wanted to give an announcent.
Who would have thought it was because of a contest?
A teacher strode towards the centre of the circle.
"To highlight the exercise for today, we are having a contest, to determine the wrestling god among us. Mind you, this is a play wrestling. Though you might draw blood, that's all." She folded her arms and peered around with that deep golden eyes of hers as if she were expecting either of us to object to her words.
The entire students clapped, while I sat next to Ray as I tried to understand why they were having a wrestling competition between Alphas and Betas.
Isn't it supposed to be between Alphas?
Adding Betas seed like an uneven match.
"So...." She clapped. "I only need four volunteers, two Alphas and two Betas."
There were murmurs around us as the students gave each look.
"Are you going?"
Ray asked Sky, who hadn't so much as blinked.
"Why should I go?" He narrowed a glare at Ray.
Ray leaned in and whispered sothing to him. It wasn't audible, so I had no way of knowing what he said to him.
"Are you telling the truth or just pulling my legs?" Sky narrowed his eyes at Ray.
"Of course, why will I lie about that? Trust , I'm your sure plug." Ray winked at him.
Sky nodded before he turned to the teacher, who was waiting for volunteers.
"!"
He raised his head.
"Wow!"
The teacher clapped. "We have gotten a volunteer, who will be the next? I need an Alpha to challenge him."
"What did you say to make him change his mind?" I leaned in to ask Ray, whose smile looked a bit suspicious.
"I will challenge him."
At the sound of the familiar voice, I glanced up, to see Storm.
He had his entire focus on . And when he noticed looking at him, his mouth curved up before he winked at .
Fool!
I turned my face to the side, with a pissed expression on my face.
"Who else?"
After Sky and Storm, the teacher got a Beta, and an Alpha before she sat back, to let the wrestling comnce.
"Sky, are you certain about this? He's an Alpha, and you are a—"
"You don't have to worry about , Brys." He gently ruffled my hair, "he might be an Alpha, but that doesn't make him stronger than ."
"I hope you beat his arse, then."
I peered up, to see Storm glaring at us. His eyes were locked on Sky's hand on my head, and he looked damned murderous.
I scowled at him before I glanced up at Sky. "Good luck."
"Make certain you cheer for ." With a wink, he was turned to match forward.
The students made way for Sky, while Ray chuckled.
"Who would have thought that fool was in love?" He murmured under his breath, but it was loud enough for to hear.
"What are you talking about? Who's the fool?"
"The fool?" He furrowed his brows. "What are you talking about? Who's the fool? I didn't say anything about a fool. Let's watch the wrestling match."
Though I wanted to know more, I let the matter drop.
Since he doesn't wish to say a word, I won't force him to tell .
"Are you guys ready?" The teacher called out.
"Yes, we are." Storm folded his arms, with his eyes narrowed at Sky.
I can't tell the reason I felt like Storm has a grudge against Sky.
It's written clearly on his face.
"Start!"
"Wait," Storm raised a hand.
"What's it?" The teacher frowned.
"Can we fight without changing into our wolves? I think it's a hassle to change for a Beta."
Sky growled at him, but Storm flicked his fingers.
His actions caused the students to laugh, but just a glare from him shut them up faster than I thought possible.
"Anything you want. Now, begin!"
******
"Why did you think of challenging him!" I folded my arms and glared at Sky, who looked like he had an accident with a truck, and lived to tell the tale.
Though he's gradually healing, the blood was still on his clothes.
"But I did give him a punch and broke his nose." He grinned.
"Now isn't the ti to act so smug! He could have killed you!" I felt like tugging on my hair.
"But he didn't." Sky tried to rise, but I shot a glare at him.
"Why didn't you back down when you saw him?"
"And risk being called a sissy?" Sky growled.
"It would have been better than fighting him!" I felt like knocking so sense into that thick skull of his.
"It's not his fault, Brys. Who would have thought that Storm will take the wrestling seriously? Had the teachers not separated them, he would have killed Sky!" Ray sat next to Sky. "How's your hand?"
"Healing."
Sky glanced at his right hand which was bloodied beyond recognition.
Had the teachers not separated them in ti, Storm would have broken his right hand.
It seed he had a problem with that hand, and it left to wonder what the problem might be.
"Did you have a misunderstanding with him?" I sat opposite Ray.
"No, we've never spoken to each other." Sky shook his head. "But the way he fought, made it seem like we were in a feud or sothing like that."
Ray chuckled, "I bet you did sothing to piss the big bad Alpha."
"That's true."
I nodded in support, but at the sa ti, I felt like Sky wasn't the one at fault.
It's typical of Storm to pick offence with anyone he ets.
Hell, I've never looked for his trouble, but he's always pissing off.
"But what could that be?" Sky raised a brow.
"You tell us." I sighed, "I will be right back, Sky. There is sothing I need to do."
I won't let Storm get out of this without giving him a piece of my mind.
"Where are you going? It's too late." Ray held my hand in his.
"I will be back. I'm just going to take a walk around the—"
"Haven't you heard?" Ray widened his eyes.
"Heard what?" I frowned.
"Ogas are disappearing," Ray spoke in hushed tones.
"What?"
And that reminded of what Fan told before we had a disagreent.
"That's true. No one knows how. But six students are missing. The teachers are trying to find out what's going on. But for now, no one knows what happened to them."
"I doubt that's the truth."
Though my interest is piqued, I can't let it show.
"Don't go." Sky sat up on the bed. "There's always an atom of truth in rumours. Please, don't go."
"I'm not like those Ogas." I grin, "I will be back before you miss !"
I raced towards the door and banged it shut behind .
"Brys."
They called out to , but I didn't stop.
I ran down the deserted hall and towards the Alphas' dorm.
With how pissed I am, I don't think I will sleep peacefully if I don't have a much-needed confrontation with the damned—
Soone covered my mouth from the back and drew flushed against their chest.
