"This man is nad Chato Santana, codena El Diablo. He was originally a gang mber, but later obtained these tattoos from sowhere unknown and gained the power to control fire." Amanda Waller, fearing Thea wouldn't understand, kept making introductions from the side.
Thea listened to her explanation with a serious face on the surface, but inwardly, she was full of disdain. A bunch of amateurs! What "power to control fire"? That was Hellfire, an ability granted by the demon residing within his body.
This guy bore so resemblance to Ghost Rider from the Marvel universe next door, but his strength was even worse than Ghost Rider's. After all, the entity possessing him was just an ordinary demon. Let alone this living host, even if that demon jumped out itself, Thea could take it down with just a bit of effort.
"Chato Santana..." Thea murmured the na, holding back laughter. "...What a na. Can he transform into an Autobot or sothing?"
"They released over a dozen felons detained by A.R.G.U.S. Among them, these two are the most dangerous." Not knowing Thea was letting her mind wander, Amanda adjusted the console. Over a dozen photos appeared on the screen, with two headshots being the largest.
"The one on the left is Killer Croc. You've t him before. I can only say he is even more brutal and aggressive than when you arrested him."
"The one on the right is George 'Digger' Harkness, codena Captain Boorang. He specializes in using various high-tech boorangs. He is powerful and extrely cunning."
Thea looked at her with so confusion, waiting for her to continue. Shouldn't these guys all be mbers of the Suicide Squad? Now it seems they've directly defected to the enemy side. But what does this have to do with ? I'm a consultant, not a hired thug.
"Can you deal with them? Please be honest with us." Amanda stayed silent; instead, General Lane, who was standing beside her, spoke up.
Thea couldn't help but calculate. Originally, Enchantress should have been the strongest, but having completely rged with that female doctor, her power should drop significantly barring any accidents. That El Diablo nad Santana had strength comparable to the weakened Enchantress. Dealing with both of them simultaneously... she could take them down if she revealed her trump cards. It would just take a bit of effort.
The remaining ordinary people wouldn't pose any trouble to her at all, so Thea simply ignored them.
But being able to do it was one thing; saying it out loud to this bunch was another. Was she crazy to play the sucker and risk her neck for them?
Pretending to hesitate, she asked, "What exactly do you need to do? Calling here in such a rush."
General Lane hesitated for a mont but decided to tell the truth. "They kidnapped the Secretary of Defense, and then used the Secretary's life as leverage to capture the leader of A.R.G.U.S., Steve Trevor..."
Unlucky Steve Trevor... Thea glanced thoughtfully at the dark-skinned Amanda. No wonder this woman had a smile in the corners of her eyes despite such a major incident occurring. If not for the inappropriate situation, she probably would have gathered her subordinates for a celebration party.
"The Secretary knows many top secrets. If they are leaked, the consequences will be..." General Lane looked a bit panicked. This old guy was stubborn as a rock, but generally speaking, he was still very patriotic.
"General, pardon my bluntness. She calls herself Enchantress—that alone should tell you what we're dealing with. If she wants to, no national secret would be safe from her." Thea explained imdiately. The matter of leaks would be troubleso and had to be clarified beforehand. The Secretary of Defense was just an old bureaucrat; his willpower might be in the negatives. Expecting him to resist Enchantress's magic was a pipe dream.
General Lane knew this too, but he forced the words back down his throat. "We beg you, please rescue the Secretary."
"Just rescue him?" Thea felt General Lane was hinting that if things couldn't be done, just let the Secretary die, but the idea was too explosive to say out loud, even for soone as hard-nosed as him.
"Yes, rescue him!"
"Rescue the Secretary first!" Amanda emphasized specifically. The subtext was: It doesn't matter if you can't save Steve Trevor!
"Where are they? Has satellite monitoring picked them up?" Thea asked.
"Report, Ma'am. Satellite shows they are approaching Midway City, less than thirty miles from the northeast corner of the city." A non-commissioned officer controlling the satellite didn't recognize Thea's rank, but seeing her imposing manner, he knew she wasn't an ordinary person and vaguely settled on the honorific "Ma'am."
"Wait here!" Thea greeted the few people in the room, and without waiting for their response, went outside. Avoiding the satellite surveillance orbits, she flew directly into the sky, using the Eye of Horus to look into the distance.
Midway City was also one of the major US cities in this world, similar in scale to Star City and Central City. In her impression, it was the territory of Hawkman and Hawkgirl. But at this point in ti, Thea hadn't found any traces of those two dumb birds. Whether it was because the ti hadn't co and they hadn't awakened their mories, or because Horus had fallen and the tiline was disordered so these two didn't exist at all, Thea didn't know.
This city wasn't far from Star City. The previous urban railway project also had their participation, and Thea had visited a few tis. Finding the direction, she focused her gaze.
The Eye of Horus quickly collected massive amounts of information. Thea filtered them one by one, and three minutes later, she found Enchantress's group.
The opposing numbers were significant. Not just the dozen or so criminals; Thea also saw many fully ard soldiers holding firearms. Barring any accidents, these were Rick Flag's subordinates. In modern tis, blind loyalty is rare; there was no way they were openly committing treason just for their commander. Most likely, these people were brainwashed.
Over thirty people were sitting in two trucks. Most of them stared ahead with blank expressions. The esteed Mr. Secretary was trussed up like a turkey and thrown onto the rear truck. Enchantress was concentrating on reading his mories.
Seeming to sense Thea's prying gaze, she stopped her movents and looked around nervously, but found nothing.
Thea acted suddenly while she was relaxed. The Yellow Lantern Ring had brought her a lot of knowledge regarding space. Although it leaned towards the physical aspect, all roads lead to Ro; it still held great reference value. After her mana beca sufficient, Thea had already begun researching teleportation spells and now had so small achievents.
Opening a light blue portal beside the Secretary of Defense, Thea reached a hand out from behind the portal, grabbed him, and pulled him directly through.
Enchantress's attainnt in spatial magic wasn't low either, but having fused with June Moone, her own strength was severely damaged. She wavered for a mont, fearing an ambush, and ultimately abandoned the idea of pursuing.
"I've rescued our Mr. Secretary!" The people in the conference room were dumbfounded seeing her drag the elderly Secretary back in less than three minutes total.
Fortunately, there was never a shortage of bootlickers in this world. A few sharp-eyed ones hurriedly surrounded the Secretary of Defense to ask after his well-being, creating a bustling and lively scene.
