"We got no money from when our parents died; they left it all to our cousins. We had no family who took us in, because apparently we were a bad luck charm; there was nothing, absolutely nothing, that could’ve saved us."

Zylus didn’t add on to anything; he just witnessed Frey’s ramblings and spit fly across the room while his intrigue grew.

"I understand, keep going..."

"Soon, he decided it would be best if we just started robbing everyone, killing others if it didn’t benefit us, and all of that nonsense."

Frey exhaled, then continued, "Without second thought," she stared at Zylus directly, "I agreed, without a second thought."

She thought about her actions for a second, then continued, "I an, was I wrong?! If others abandon us, why would it be wrong for us to abandon them?!"

Her question lingered in Zylus’s head for longer than he would expect, but no answer ca out.

"So, we continued. Day after day after day after day, we ran away from any soldiers, cadets, or even street vendors. It was difficult, but we both continued to steal. My brother had always taken the initiative, killing when he thought of it as the most viable option for our safety."

Her gaze shiftedto the wooden ground, "Once he got his first kill, he just continued. I tried telling him to stop, but he wouldn’t. And then, he slowly beca a serial killer as we continued to age. I tried stopping him, I swear, but my efforts were in vain, especially when he was the only person saving from my own death. Which I was too scared to let that go by. So I watched him murder murder after murder. Again and again, blood started filling the small abandoned cabin we lived in. It was terrible."

She paused for a second, just a little bit, before moving on to the next broader topic.

"And one ti, I was forced to confront similar actions myself. A street vendor found us, rushed into our cabin, with a knife in his hand."

Sheshookd rapidly, inhaling deeply. A couple of seconds passed until she decided to exhale the rest out.

"I had a knife gripped around my hand at the ti; he had my little brother pinned downwards. And I had a decision, to either kill the man or watch my brother die, and I would possibly be bailed out."

"How co?"

"Because up until that point, I had never committed a cri, it was always my brother, never ."

She leaned closer towards Zylus, looking around wearily.

"But at that mont, ti seed to slow for . I felt as if this decision would be a must. And as I looked into my brother’s pathetic eyes, rembering everything we gone through, I stabbed him."

"As in your brother?"

"No, idiot. The man. The first stab was light, and once he fell. I stabbed him again, again, and again, until his corpse dropped no more blood. And that’s when the realization hit ."

She bent lower, her gaze darkened, the room’s tension grew, as her eyes pierced into Zylus’s gaze, she looked at him with utter darkness. One that he had only seen back when confronting the mysterious silhouette inside of him. The one that caused him to lose the emotion, ’Fear.’

Her green eyes turneddarke, and darker until you could only seeblack. It didn’t feel scary to Zylus, but it felt odd.

Is this guilt? He wondered, as Frey fixed herself up.

"I realized," the tension built upon the story carried significance to both of them now, "That I’m a murderer."

Zylus knew that the story still wasn’t finished, so he didn’t add anything to her story. He decided to let her continue before interrupting or prying into these matters again.

"And at that mont, I dropped the knife. Falling to my knees. But my brother comforted ; he told that this was the right thing to do. So I did it, and I didn’t feel that bad for him."

"There’s sothing else, isn’t there?"

Zylus caught on quickly. She was about to say what had truly occurred.

"Then, Mordain Avaris, the fifth rank, decided to jump into our cabin. My brother had been no match for him, even with his bloodlist system. It wassaidi he had systemic flow matched to Chris Tall. But realization hurts, Zylus. Especially when you’re on the losing end."

"Of cour,se I know this, I’m aware of this fact better than anyone." Zylus announcedSo"so just tell , how are you sitting before right now?"

He wanted answers, quickly, before ti had passed.

"Calm down, I’m getting to the chase," Frey took the pillow from the bed and put it onto her knees, laying her elbows on the soft and cold edges comfortably.

"My brother took the bla for everything. And so, Mordain took him in and then looked at . He told he’ll wait until I turn eighteen. At the ti, he was pretty young as well. Maybe in his early teens. But from that mont, he was a clear misogynist. And he only cared about our bodies."

Zylus spat, "Glad I killed him." He crackled after.

"What was that?"

"Nothing you need to worry about."

"Anyways," Frey continued, he took my brother, as the serial killer that he is, into the colosseum, and from there. I grew up healthy. Mordain kept treating , waiting until the mont I turned eighteen."

"Was he that much of a pervert?"

"That, and I heard I was really cute as a kid, that my charms are adored. Although, since yesterday, I wasn’t able to get in touch with him, I don’t know how to feel."

"So, are you happy or not? Would you rather have him be here with you?" Zylus asked harshly, putting a hand on her right shoulder.

"I don’t know how to feel about that question, because he’s honestly done so much for , even though he began deteriorating my brother’s soul."

"But how can you not-"

"It’s because we had committed so much sin in the past, it seed appropriate." She replied, as Zylus’s gaze darkened.

"What if I told you..."

He had cut straight to the chase.

"That I killed him."
