Chapter 640: Chapter 0640: Witness (Additional 8800, Seeking Monthly Tickets)

Plague World.

The original Kingdom of Maximilian, City of Hope.

In the year 250 of the Sacred Calendar, it had been seven years since Lejay, known as the ‘Dictator,’ ‘Lifeti Protector,’ ‘New Country Leader,’ and ‘Slaughterer,’ overthrew the feudal kingdom and established the ‘New Country.’

During this ti, Lejay used his power as a Tyrant to drive the infected army to reclaim one plague-ravaged city after another, rescuing the citizens therein.

At the sa ti, he was also persecuting all creatures involved with the ‘supernatural.’

The Horned Eagles and Flower Fairies of the North Territory have been driven to extinction, and various Transcendent creatures on the continent were caught and killed rcilessly by the army of infected.

Once the supernatural creatures had been exterminated, it was humans’ turn.

Large numbers of ‘witches’ were tied to the stake and executed, red-eyed sufferers were arrested on a massive scale due to suspicions of them being ‘vampires.’

Scholars in the New Country openly advocated the theory of ‘pure bloodlines’, stating that pure-blooded humans are the noblest creatures and developed a complicated and cumberso ‘Identification Ceremony.’

The irony is that most of the scholars propagating this theory were themselves arrested, allegedly for having ‘excessive body hair,’ suspected to be werewolves.

Consequently, Lejay’s reputation plumted, earning him the titles ‘Dictator’ and ‘Slaughterer.’

Even around the year 247 of the Sacred Calendar, when he had fully recovered the territory of the original Kingdom of Maximilian and largely defeated the plague, this once wise and resolute leader gradually descended into madness.

After the ‘Transcendents’ outside were almost entirely hunted and killed, he turned his eyes to his own army, his utterly loyal infected army.

Innurable high-ranking officers were arrested and executed in secret.

Even Lejay, using his Tyrant power, ordered a large number of low-ranking infected to march towards their own deaths.

This imdiately cast a shadow of terror over the entire New Country.

Everyone was afraid that the mad Slaughterer would co for them next.

City of Hope.

The Protector’s Mansion.

Lejay’s life was austere; he never ate at and wore hemp clothes, like a devout ascetic.

The main course for his dinner today was boiled potatoes in saltwater, accompanied by a few leaves of lettuce and carrots.

Upon leisurely finishing his al, Lejay received news of a lady coming to visit.

“Please invite Ms. Jennifer in, I will see her in the study.”

Lejay strolled into the study. Before long, a lady who was no longer young, but still beautiful and fit, walked in.

“Jennifer…”

Looking at this forr team mber, Lejay seed sowhat dazed.

“Captain…”

Jennifer laughed bitterly: “Or rather… should I call you ‘Mr. Dictator’?”

“As you know… everything I’ve done was for a better world,” Lejay said after a long silence.

“But the common people don’t know that, they only know that their ruler has gone mad. They fear that one day, the mad crow, no, you’ve already killed all the crows, they fear that the police will burst into their hos, declare them witches, werewolves, or descendants of vampires, and execute them!”

Jennifer argued heatedly: “For that reason, they will turn to your enemies, many enemies!”

Lejay was ruthless towards the ‘Mysterious Person,’ but surprisingly tolerant towards the ordinary people who opposed his power. This was also sothing she found puzzling.

“Captain… for the last ti.”

A bitter smile crossed her face: “Your people, your enemies are plotting against you, and you’re still massacring those who once supported you… Everyone thinks you’ve gone mad, but I know you’re just being paranoid, ever since ‘that person’ we t in the City of Plague — I don’t even know if he’s human — you’ve fallen into an incredibly obstinate state.”

“Yes, it doesn’t matter whether people understand , I just want to achieve my goal.”

Lejay muttered: “Now it’s just one step away.”

“You have no chance.”

With Jennifer’s voice, the sound of gunfire suddenly ca from outside.

“A coup… it’s only to be expected, isn’t it?”

Jennifer said: “Nobody supports you, nobody protects you. Everyone fears you, despises you! You’re going to be the next Jindum. Even your personal guards have betrayed you, you killed Godier, killed Colondo… killed the most loyal hounds to you, now it’s your turn!”

“Indeed, it’s my turn.”

Lejay’s expression was odd, no pain of betrayal, no anger, but rather comfort and… indifference?

This contrast made Jennifer rub her eyes unconsciously.

“That being told … a new era is about to begin, it just needs the final sacrifice!”

In Lejay’s last remark, he looked at the soldiers rushing in, smiled faintly, and raised his hands.

Even though his n had all betrayed him, he himself was still a second class Tyrant, the upper limit of power in this world, and could even manipulate spiritual bacteria to create a batch of infected who were loyal to him.

Worse cos to worst, he could easily escape thanks to his physical constitution.

But he didn’t!

Faced with the incoming ‘traitors,’ Lejay calmly surrendered.

“Forr Governor, Protector Lejay! You are under arrest, charged with multiple counts of murder and genocide!”

A young man stepped in, reading aloud: “You will stand trial before the people; we grant you the right to appeal and a public court.”

“This treatnt, at least better than Jindum, isn’t it?”

Lejay chuckled: “My era has ended; you guys do your best!”

He put on the shackles, and with his head held high, walked out the door.

“Such a madman…”

The young man stood stunned, noticing Jennifer’s tears streaming uncontrollably down her face.

The news of Lejay’s arrest soon spread throughout the City of Hope.

Every citizen was cheering, even celebrating with festivities.

They felt that the ominous cloud hanging over everyone had finally dispersed, revealing the long-lost sun.

In the public court, no lawyer was willing to defend Lejay. Each ti a charge was read by the prosecutor, the citizens below cheered.

And when Lejay appeared, the curses of tyrant, slaughterer, mad king ca like a tidal wave.

Faced with such accusations, Lejay remained calm, showing no reaction, making no effort to defend himself.

“I declare, all charges stand, the defendant is sentenced to death!”

Ultimately, with the bang of the chief judge’s gavel, the entire square was filled with cheers.

Su Lu’s alter ego quietly stood outside the square, eting Lejay’s gaze: “I told you… I will witness your brilliance, as well as your death!”
