"Grant access to {Halo of Pure Light}."
[Ding!]
[Request denied.]
[Ding!]
[A system request had been made.]
"Skip for now."
[As a Causal reward ID: KiRA will be granted the use of the Unique Skill: Halo of Pure Light.]
He knew it. This was the first ti it was happening, but he knew the causality would not allow him to use his Authority as freely as he wanted when it was in its primary form.
The use of his skill was denied, and instead, a request was placed against it.
It was like an unavoidable quest that he had no choice but to take on for the system, the entity that oversaw the Governing Laws, and the causal reward this ti confird that the request would be sothing difficult.
’The Causal Access authority and the Causal rewards are connected directly. Causality is the primary Law that governs both of them, and according to its rules, only when there are certain causes can there be an effect of a specific kind.’
When KiRA used the Authority, he was gaining sothing in return for sothing of equal value in a certain balancing manner.
Getting a blessing to offset the curses that were placed on him right after gaining the Authority was rely an example of what could be done with the power to access the Cause and Effect relationship; all existing things within the world have an effect on one another.
The process is no simple thing, though, and understanding it is also not a simple matter, so, in these tis of war, instead of brooding over the bad timing of the quest, he focused on the black tide coming towards them.
[{ "Uni, keep an eye over here. I’m going in now." }]
He gave a one last nod of confidence to Izzy and Captain before vanishing from his place, going for the forest that was still throwing out new monsters one after the other.
The black tide that was coming at them was not the sa as the swarm that the 30th city was going to face, or anything even close to the other calamities, but it was still a dangerous one.
He was the only one with enough firepower to take it down without wasting too much strength, so he moved inside the forest.
’Halo of Pure Light.’
-Ooooooooooooooooooooong!
The Halo materialised along with the wings, and with the help of his floating cape, similar to Captain Rose, he also floated above, reaching up into the sky with the bright light surrounding him.
-Zaaaaaaaaa...!
He covered the sky with his feathers, the golden feathers of light that were further enhanced by the blazing power of the Halo.
"Hey..."
"Look! What is that thing? Look!"
"Report to the captain! Right now!"
"Should... should we shoot at it?"
The appearance of the white flash of light in the middle of the forest was completely unexpected. Seeing the flashes of light that they could not distinguish as feathers from that distance was even more strange.
What was more baffling, though, was the fact that these lights were appearing right before the tide like sli approaching their city.
It was so high that even the people on top of the walls could see it. Even from this distance, they thought they were almost going to get devoured by it.
For those who stood on the walls or before the city gates, this entity was not going to be sothing that they could block by normal ans. And for that reason, they were going to put up the magical barrier as soon as it got closer...
However, as the being with glowing feathers stood before the tide, they witnessed a unique scene.
-Ooooooooooooooooong!
With the golden feathers made of his ’pure’ divine power, KiRA attacked the being that stood before him.
The attacks were scattered, covering half of the sky before the creature. It wasn’t sothing simple either, as they aid specifically at the small glowing lights faintly visible within the dark mucus of the creature.
The feathers pierced the scattered core of the sli, the power from the Purity and the Holiness burning the surrounding area, consequently.
"Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii...!"
A strange scream that seed to have co from a Banshee imdiately echoed throughout the forest area as well as the city, making those before the walls grab their helts once again.
The advanced helts that sohow blocked the sound of the other creatures were not as effective against a being like this; however, it was still endurable.
-Zaaaaaaaaaaa...!
As they watched, the person in the sky continued firing the golden light at the tide, which, now, seed to be getting smaller and smaller.
As the speed of the tide’s arrival increased with the ticking tir of the wave’s announcent, the hearts of the soldiers who watched this scene stalled for a brief mont.
"Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiii...!"
The scream that seed hard to endure slowly beca easier to withstand... so of them had also caught onto the fact that the scream wasn’t the one getting weaker but the one screaming itself.
-Swish! Swish! Swish!
As the cores of the creature continued decreasing, the scale of its body got smaller and smaller... in no ti at all, the creature that could threaten the entire city was reduced to sothing they could not even see from their post anymore.
"Wow..."
"Is it... gone?"
"Does this an that thing killed it?"
People had their doubts, and they could not believe what was happening right now.
It was strange how the creature had vanished, but it was still believable if they considered the possibility that the one that killed it, in fact, was a ssenger from the heavens.
The wings, the faint yet holy light, and the way they looked in the middle of this Red-stained, blood-raining night were straight out of a biblical scene.
The way the golden winged being took down the dark tide, in the eyes of the natives that witnessed it, was nothing less than seeing sothing straight out of the folklore that they had only ever heard about from their elders.
To add to this whole experience, thanks to the players who had brought the new tech to their lands, they were able to record the whole scene as well... which ant the parents and elders could show it to their kids.
Additionally, the wave that was supposed to arrive right with the dark sli, even after the tir went off and so ti passed, was nowhere in sight.
"What is this...?"
"It’s so quiet now..."
"Wow."
The natives had never experienced this kind of quiet during the night of the red moon, ever. There were no monsters coming at them right now.
The monsters from the previous waves were also cleaned up.
{ "Let’s prepare for the next waves, everyone! This is not the ti to idle around!" }
The guardian captain and Izzy soon brought them back to the present, reminding them it was not over just yet.
Even though the being might have saved them from the calamity, the night was still young. There were still a few waves left, and they would not be like the rest of them.
Thanks to that being, they had gained a few precious minutes, perhaps a little less considering the monsters that were blocked by the sli would flood in after it’s gone.
The miracle that had saved them from the sli would be too weak once He gets back anyway, so they needed to be the ones to defend the city from now on.
"I wasted more holy power than expected... that one had more cores thanks to all the rain Mana it might have absorbed."
KiRA, after taking care of the dark sli, found himself deep within the forest.
This area, still saturated by the monsters, was filled with tall trees that made it easier for him to hide his presence.
With his excellent ability to control his energy, the monsters that were rushing towards the city were never going to notice the faintest of presence around them. They were too intoxicated by the rain for that, and KiRA knew that very well.
"The rain’s working well, but things must be dangerous in a few of the other cities."
The 12th city had KiRA, and the first three cities had Da Althea. The cities controlled by the eastern alliance forces were going to be safe, and the cities under the association should do fine as long as they don’t face the powerful calamity-level monsters like the bug swarms.
He knew what could go right and what could go wrong if the cities faced these monsters, and he knew the downside.
’She must have had sothing in mind if she took this gamble.’
An event was not fixed. Just like how the ones that owned the event could change a few things about the event, they could also influence the outco in their favor.
The events were granted to the higher beings by the tower as a special reward anyway, but the higher beings were mostly never interested in the events of the lower floors.
The divinity and authority or status they gained from it were minuscule compared to what they could gain from the middle and upper floors, making them worthless to them.
But to soone like KiRA or the Association president who wanted to save their people, these special powers were nothing less than a miraculous item.
’Still, she cannot change what’s bound to happen.’
An event is called an event because it has shared repeated occurrences of a similar thing within the tower, either of that part alone, or sowhere else.
"In this battle, a few things are predestined until influenced directly at the right ti..."
Near the center of the forest, KiRA concluded his search as soon as his eyes fell on the being he was here for.
The being that was also the last hidden piece.
The being that would bring a halt to the waves after the end of the waves.
As well as the fact that he will have to sacrifice for a different life eventually...
