Lin Tian's eyes were blurred with tears; he had never cried while listening to a song before!
Indeed, ng Ke'er's singing skills were no joke.
During ng Ke'er's performance, the entire audience was silent, but as soon as her singing stopped, the room erupted into a frenzy.
"Goddess, we love you."
"That was so beautiful."
"Sing another one,"
"One more song."
...,....
Despite the fans' pleas for her to stay, ng Ke'er still said apologetically, "Thank you all for coming, thank you everyone."
Then, amidst reluctant cries from the crowd, ng Ke'er slowly walked off the stage.
The venue was filled with sighs of disappointnt; the once seething International Trade Building imdiately filled with a sense of mourning. Once ng Ke'er left, many sighed, and the subsequent acts could hardly hold their attention, with half of the audience dispersing right away.
A short while later, there was a surge of people at the entrance, and several security guards rushed out.
Lin Tian said to Jiang Hui, "ng Ke'er is coming out; it's ti for our entrance."
Jiang Hui instantly perked up, ready for action.
Soon, ng Ke'er walked out, surrounded by a phalanx of bodyguards.
All kinds of caras and mobile phones switched into photo mode, and the flashes were so intense that they hurt Lin Tian's eyes.
ng Ke'er, at the center of the flashes, had to smile at her fans for the sake of her image. Lin Tian suddenly felt that being a star wasn't easy—having to smile with wide eyes under the spotlight was a difficult thing to do.
Soon, ng Ke'er arrived before everyone; the cries from the fan eting were so loud that, to satisfy her fans' wishes, she posed for photos on the spot.
Lin Tian whispered, "Jiang Hui, go!"
Jiang Hui put on sunglasses, donned a black coat, and burst forth from the crowd, targeting ng Ke'er.
Jiang Hui charged ferociously. ng Ke'er's bodyguards noticed him at once. Two bodyguards lunged at Jiang Hui.
These bodyguards, hired for a hefty price, were all forr special forces with strong abilities, but they were still not a match for Jiang Hui.
With just two punches, Jiang Hui easily knocked down the two bodyguards. The remaining bodyguards took action to stop him together.
This sudden change turned the scene into complete chaos. ng Ke'er was stunned, standing still, while the rest panicked and retreated awkwardly.
In the end, it was quite sad for ng Ke'er—worshipped by countless n, yet when she really faced danger, not a single one was willing to stand up for her.
The dozen bodyguards were no match for Jiang Hui; within a minute, they were all knocked down by him.
Then, Jiang Hui pulled out a dagger and shouted at ng Ke'er, "ng Ke'er, I'll kill you."
The dagger reached ng Ke'er's face in the blink of an eye. At this critical mont, Lin Tian made his move. He threw a Flying Dagger, driving Jiang Hui back, and then a fierce fight broke out between the two.
All this had been prearranged by Lin Tian. His goal was to make ng Ke'er owe him a favor, so he could get closer to her and possibly arrange for her to collaborate with Bu ngting.
The thod was underhanded, but Lin Tian couldn't think of anything better. Out of desperation, it was the only plan he could follow.
Lin Tian saved ng Ke'er and engaged in a fierce battle with Jiang Hui, instantly turning into a hero.
"Beat him up, how dare he hurt our goddess, kill him!"
"Right, hero, well done!"
"Punch him, kick him, kill him!"
...,....
After about a dozen rounds, Lin Tianjue felt that the act had gone on long enough and it was ti to end it.
Jiang Hui threw a Flying Dagger in a backhanded motion, and Lin Tian purposely slowed down, allowing the dagger to graze his right arm and draw blood.
Lin Tian let out a painful cry and collapsed to the ground in embarrassnt. Jiang Hui turned and fled, quickly disappearing without a trace.
The scene was in chaos, and people on either side wanted to move forward to check the situation but were kept back by the recovering bodyguards who quickly rose to maintain order, keeping bystanders away from ng Ke'er.
ng Ke'er quickly snapped out of her daze and hurried over to Lin Tian, asking, "How are you, you're bleeding, are you okay?"
After finishing her words, she quickly took out tissue paper from her bag to wipe the blood off Lin Tian.
Lin Tian said, "It's nothing, just a minor injury, no big deal!"
Lin Tian had saved ng Ke'er, and she was wiping his blood—it was a very common act of human decency.
But in the eyes of ng Ke'er's obsessed fans, this event was elevated to sothing more.
"Well done, goddess, so down to earth!"
"I'm so envious of that injured guy, I want to be wounded too so the goddess will bandage up."
..., ....
The crowd gave ng Ke'er thumbs up, and even she hadn't expected such a minor gesture to elicit such a flood of praise.
For them, as artists, climbing to the top was extrely difficult. Their job was to make everyone like them; in other words, these mindless fans were their bread and butter. A good impression in the public eye ant they could advance their careers. Otherwise, they could be blacklisted in an instant!
ng Ke'er looked innocent, but to have reached such a high position in the entertainnt industry, she was definitely not the pure little girl she appeared to be. She was quite calculating and much more complex than others realized.
As ng Ke'er's eyes rested on Lin Tian, she thought to herself, "Just wiping his wound with a tissue has brought such rave reviews; if I treat him even better, my popularity will surely rise again. Maybe, I could even shoot straight to the top spot in the entertainnt world."
She couldn't let such an opportunity to increase her popularity slip by. With a smug smile, she said to Lin Tian, "Benefactor, let help you up!"
She slung one of Lin Tian's arms over her shoulder, helping him to stand up.
Lin Tian was capable of standing on his own, but he didn't refuse because this was exactly the outco he wanted to see.
The fans' hearts lted at this scene; a small injury had garnered such doting from the goddess. She must be so kind-hearted.
Soon, ng Ke'er started to sche and act.
Lin Tian's weight wasn't really on her, but she pretended as if it was a significant burden, took a step forward, and then, on purpose, she fell.
When she fell, Lin Tian stood there, dumbstruck, but quickly sneered inwardly, thinking, "Goddess, you really know how to play the ga!"
"Ah...!"
The crowd gasped in surprise and quickly offered comfort, fearing their goddess might have gotten hurt.
ng Ke'er pretended to be in pain as she struggled to stand up. She promptly took off the two high-heeled shoes she was wearing and once again draped Lin Tian's arm over her shoulder.
She continued to act as if weighed down, her pitiful look making others feel sympathy for her.
The crowd quickly shifted targets, praising ng Ke'er while criticizing Lin Tian.
"The goddess is truly kind-hearted, truly worthy of being my goddess."
"Hey, that guy, such a big bloke, with such a tiny injury, what's he needing the goddess to help for? Walk by yourself."
"Goddess, we love you, you're so compassionate."
"Got a tiny scratch and he clings to the goddess, I think you're just a pervert, just want to take advantage of her."
"Let go of the goddess, let go of the goddess...!"
..., ....
Emma, these brain-dead fans are almost going crazy. They were just scolding Lin Tian, and now they're calling him a pervert. The switch from hero to lecher is just too fast!
Seeing the crowd berate Lin Tian, with each word like a gem, ng Ke'er quickly spoke up for him, "This brother saved , it's the least I can do. Brother, let take you to the hospital!"
"No, no, no, it's just a small injury, no need to make such a fuss," Lin Tian refused, shaking his head.
ng Ke'er said, "Alright then, follow to my hotel, and I'll bandage you up there."
"No, no, no, I really shouldn't impose," Lin Tian refused once more, but this ti with a polite façade.
"It's no trouble at all, not the slightest inconvenience. The hotel I'm staying at is just up ahead, across the street. Co on, I'll help you get there."
After that, the bodyguards cleared a path through the crowd, and Lin Tian, with ng Ke'er's support, walked step by step towards her hotel.
At the hotel entrance, ng Ke'er waved to the crowd and said, "Thank you, everyone, I will take good care of this brother!"
Then she opened the door and walked into the hotel with Lin Tian.
As they entered the hotel room and closed the door behind them, both Lin Tian and ng Ke'er audibly sighed in relief, feeling very pleased.
Lin Tian was happy because he had successfully gotten close to ng Ke'er, and she was thrilled that after today's event, she would surely be talked up by her fans as a great philanthropist, and her popularity would surge, beckoning the top spot closer to her.
Just inside, although ng Ke'er was pleased, her charming smile from before was gone. She tossed off Lin Tian's arm and said coldly, "Wait here, I'll go get your shoes."
The swift change in her attitude was faster than a rocket. She was no longer the kind-hearted goddess from before but more like a haughty and aloof young miss.
A pair of slippers was thrown in front of Lin Tian, and she said, "Co in, quick!"
Then she turned and walked into the room, looking extrely impatient.
Lin Tian changed shoes and took in the hotel: a five-star establishnt, sumptuously decorated, truly luxurious.
ng Ke'er was probably changing clothes, so Lin Tian, not wishing to intrude, sat on the sofa and waited for her.
Five minutes later, ng Ke'er ca out dressed in a sporty outfit, looking neat and relaxed.
She glanced at the door, did not see Lin Tian, but upon turning her head, she found him sitting on her sofa.
"Hey, get up! What's wrong with you, sitting on soone else's sofa without permission! Do you know these cushion covers are new? What if you dirtied them?"
She yanked Lin Tian to his feet, and her eyes betrayed a hint of disdain.
What happened to bandaging Lin Tian's wound? What happened to taking good care of him? Those words had been for the mindless fans outside. Once out of their sight, ng Ke'er revealed her true colors.
