Lin Tian soared into the void, his target squarely on the White-headed Wolf King. In midair, he had already gathered his strength: the power of fifty-four wild oxen combined with his Neural Response Speed Ability, all focused into a single punch.
This punch was Lin Tian's most formidable move.
The White-headed Wolf King, significantly larger than the other giant wolves, sensed the overwhelming power contained in Lin Tian's fist. Instead of colliding head-on, it quickly dodged to the side.
Lin Tian charged forward swiftly, and though his punch didn't hit the vital area of the White-headed Wolf King, it forcibly broke one of its hind legs.
After running for more than ten ters, the White-headed Wolf King turned around, glaring fiercely at Lin Tian. Despite now being three-legged, it showed no sign of fear or hesitation in combat.
"Awooo...!"
A wolf howl echoed across the fields, and after the howl, the remaining giant wolves began their frenzied assault. Seven wolves attacked Xiahou Qingyi and Li Chong, while three quickly regrouped to aid the White-headed Wolf King in killing Lin Tian.
Lin Tian activated the superpower within his body, rapidly forming a Fireball one ter in diater. He hurled the fireball toward the three charging wolves.
The one in the middle was struck head-on and instantly burned to death, while the other two also suffered varying degrees of injury from the fireball's blast.
Enraged, the White-headed Wolf King hobbled on its three legs, lunging to bite Lin Tian.
Lin Tian delivered a punch, avoiding the White-headed Wolf King's sharp teeth and landing a fist on its forehead.
The force of Lin Tian's punch was terrifying, but as wolves have heads as hard as copper, it did not kill the White-headed Wolf King. Instead, it only knocked the creature out.
The two remaining wolves swiftly attacked from behind, but Lin Tian punched them in the throat, killing them instantly.
In the blink of an eye, the White-headed Wolf King howled again, this ti signaling retreat.
Lin Tian couldn't let it escape. He rapidly caught up and, with a single punch, put an end to its life.
The few remaining wolves quickly fled for their lives, disappearing in the blink of an eye.
Lin Tian had a few wounds on his chest and near the corner of his mouth. He quickly consud a healing potion. Xiahou Qingyi was not badly injured, but Li Chong had suffered wounds to his arm from the giant wolf.
After giving Li Chong a healing potion, Lin Tian stared at the bodies of the giant wolves on the ground and exclaid, "This Zhang Ya is truly vicious, luring us into a wolf den. Lucky for us there were two of you. If I had been alone, I probably would've been torn to shreds by now."
Then Lin Tian checked the ti. It was already 9:15. He said, "We better hurry, there's not much ti left."
The three continued forward, and soon ca upon a three-way fork in the path.
Lin Tian climbed a tall tree to survey the area and discovered that the three paths would converge again a kiloter ahead.
He said, "I'll take the middle path, Xiahou Qingyi takes the left, and Li Chong takes the right. Everyone, be careful; I suspect Zhang Ya is lurking nearby, ready to ambush us."
The two nodded, and they split up and moved forward.
Along the way, Lin Tian didn't notice anything unusual. Five minutes later, he reached the end of the fork.
Lin Tian sensed a hint of blood in the air, a premonition of danger ahead.
Exercising his clairvoyant ability, he could observe five tis the distance of a normal person and see behind dense branches and leaves.
What he hadn't expected stunned him: behind a thick cluster of bushes, Lin Tian spotted over fifty figures crouching with guns in hand, all motionless—an indication of well-trained assassins or rcenaries.
"Where did Zhang Ya find so many helpers?" Lin Tian wondered, thinking that he must not act rashly. Facing over fifty guns, charging out would be like throwing himself into a sieve.
Then, Lin Tian heard faint footsteps approaching—it was Xiahou Qingyi.
"What's the situation?" Xiahou Qingyi asked.
"There are over fifty people ahead, all holding guns. We can't break through," Lin Tian replied.
"Why don't you light them up with a fire?" Xiahou Qingyi suggested.
"That would harm the hostages," Lin Tian shook his head.
"Help, save , Brother Tian, save ...!"
From the right, a cry for help sounded.
It was Li Chong's voice asking for help.
"Not good," Lin Tian exclaid, rushing to save Li Chong.
Xiahou Qingyi quickly followed suit.
By the ti the two arrived, only Li Chong's sword remained. There were no signs of struggle; Li Chong had been captured in an instant, with no trace left by the captor—a sign of a highly skilled foe who had overpowered Li Chong without a fight.
Lin Tian's sense of foreboding deepened. Over fifty skilled assassins with guns, plus a master who could easily capture Li Chong—where did Zhang Ya find such people to aid her?
Now, not only had the hostage not been rescued, but they also lost Li Chong. Lin Tian felt even more uneasy and decided they must return to find a solution.
The two went back to the place they had diverged and surveyed the terrain left and right, finding no effective way to resolve the situation. To rescue the hostage would an a head-on fight with over fifty people.
Lin Tian used his clairvoyant ability again and inadvertently he made an odd discovery.
More than fifty people were ambushed in the dark, motionless, their postures unchanged from before.
Well-trained assassins are still human—shouldn't they move at least a little? Remaining in a half-crouch for over ten minutes, even mbers of Nidhogg couldn't stay completely still!
There had to be a catch, Lin Tian thought to himself.
He turned to Xiahou Qingyi and said, "I'll scout ahead first. You stay behind and be ready to back up. If I die, you get out of here quickly. As for Li Chong, save him if you can. If not, I can only apologize."
After speaking, he took out two healing potions and walked forward, leaving Xiahou Qingyi alone, wanting to say sothing, but ultimately she remained silent.
Advancing another three hundred ters, the fifty or so people behind the thicket showed no reaction. Lin Tian pulled out a spring-loaded knife and released it with a throw.
During the entire knife-throwing process, the fifty-so people still didn't react. Lin Tian's spring-loaded knife pierced a rcenary's head viciously. Without making a sound, the rcenary fell with a 'thud', while the rest remained motionless in their original positions, as if nothing had happened.
Lin Tian rushed forward, pushing through the undergrowth, only to be infuriated by the scene before him.
"Damn it, they're fakes!" Lin Tian roared angrily, feeling utterly exasperated.
Behind the dense undergrowth, there were no assassins at all. These "assassins" were simply mud figures roughly fashioned into wax statues and positioned there. Due to the distance, Lin Tian's clairvoyant ability hadn't been omnipotent, so he had mistaken these mud-made wax figures for actual assassins.
Angry, Lin Tian kicked two of the mud figures flying, puzzled as to why Zhang Ya would do such a thing.
"Whimpering sounds..."
Soon, Lin Tian heard a faint sound.
Listening closely, it sounded like cries for help, and the voice was so familiar.
Lin Tian quickly ran over and found a one-ter deep pit. In the pit, Shen ngyi was tied up and gagged with cotton in her mouth.
Seeing Lin Tian, Shen ngyi's eyes filled with hope, as if he were her savior.
"ngyi!" Lin Tian shouted, wanting to move forward to save her.
At that mont, Lin Tian's mind short-circuited. Why didn't he consider that Zhang Ya wouldn't just leave Shen ngyi there waiting to be rescued by him?
"Team leader, be careful."
Xiahou Qingyi shouted from behind.
Lin Tian looked up and broke into a cold sweat. A spear, with the whistling force of the wind, was shooting rapidly towards him. By the ti Lin Tian noticed the spear, it was already three ters away from him.
His pupils dilated rapidly, the image of the spear in his eyes growing increasingly clear—he had no ti to dodge.
"Crack!"
In a critical mont, just in the nick of ti, a thunderball flew in front of Lin Tian and struck the spear when it was a ter away from him, blasting it to smithereens.
Xiahou Qingyi ran over quickly and yelled, "Careful, there's an ambush!"
"Phew..."
Lin Tian exhaled a long breath, extrely grateful to Xiahou Qingyi. If it weren't for her intervention, he would be dead by now. The spear was fatal, and Lin Tian wouldn't have had ti to drink a healing potion.
"Swoosh swoosh swoosh..."
A myriad of whooshing sounds surrounded them, and almost simultaneously, more than ten spears flew out from the dense woods.
The force behind these spears, whatever they were fired with, was trendous, and their aim was accurate, all targeting Lin Tian.
Xiahou Qingyi drew the Qingluan Sword and slashed through two spears flying towards them. Lin Tian, unard, could only dodge.
Eventually, with Xiahou Qingyi's help, Lin Tian dodged all the flying spears and narrowly escaped death.
Lin Tian activated his clairvoyant ability once more and looked in the direction the spears had co from. This ti, he saw a figure that moved—a real person.
"There's soone ahead, grab him," Lin Tian yelled.
Xiahou Qingyi moved to capture the person while Lin Tian hurried to Shen ngyi's side and untied her.
After pulling out the cotton from Shen ngyi's mouth, she cried out, "Lin Tian, I knew you would co to save . You wouldn't abandon , sob sob..."
Lin Tian asked, "Where's Bu ngting, where did Zhang Ya take her?" Then he proceeded to untie the ropes binding Shen ngyi.
Crying, Shen ngyi said, "Sob sob...I don't know. ngting and I were captured together, but later that evil woman left here and took ngting away. I don't know where they've gone. Sob sob...!"
As soon as Lin Tian pulled Shen ngyi out of the pit, Xiahou Qingyi ca over dragging soone with her. She dropped the person at Lin Tian's feet. Recognizing the individual, Lin Tian realized it was the middle-aged powerhouse; he had killed the man's brother, and despite multiple attempts to assassinate Lin Tian, all had failed. Later, at Tianyi Pharma, the Dragon Emperor crippled one of his arms.
